The Ro Hotel

Booked a pet friendly room for £300 for 2 nights was put in a “snug room” that costed £124 for 2 nights (didn’t get the money difference back was just put in a small room) and snug it was , very small barley could walk by the end of the bed to get to the bathroom. Pre ordered dinner service. The dessert didn’t come. Asked if it was off of the bill before paying , they said it wasn’t on the bill. Come to find out we were charged for the dessert we didn’t get. Asked for a refund and instead they brought out the dessert that they forgot about. Had dinner at the wedding, people that got mashed potatoes with their dish, the mashed potatoes were hard as a rock like they’ve been sitting overnight. Our friends room was full of mould. The hotel ran out of several different drink options knowing there was a full wedding party going to be staying there for 2 nights. Only one bar tender for several guests. Sometimes not even at the bar so had to wait for them to get back from wherever they were and long waits to get drinks. The scrambled eggs here looked like soup (I’m told that’s normal for the uk) but being Canadian it was just disgusting to me. But overall. The room was not worth the price. They have to deal with the mould problem. And if you are required to pre order your dinner, they shouldn’t forget to bring out dishes you’ve requested.

I had a really pleasant stay at Ro Hotel Windermere. The location is excellent for exploring Windermere and the surrounding Lake District, with everything conveniently nearby. The room was comfortable, clean and well maintained, and the staff were friendly and welcoming throughout my stay. The hotel has a lovely atmosphere and was a great place to relax after a day of exploring. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would definitely consider staying here again. A good choice if you’re looking for a comfortable and convenient base in Windermere.

Not a 4 star hotel. Don’t expect luxury when paying the price. My girlfriend let them know it was my 30th birthday to see if they would add any extras and all were rejected. Then we arrived to see we were put in a room at street level with a fire exit door in the room out on to the street facing the local estate. Gym and pool facilities weren’t included in the price of the booking and are £25 per person which is a joke. The gym is very well equipped though. Restaurant and bar had no atmosphere at all so best bet is to go into the local town. Room was also very cold and radiator doesn’t turn on - I phoned reception 5 times to ask to turn it on but never got an answer. Key card broke twice in two days which meant a long walk back to reception twice when we were in a rush. The bed and rooms in general were nice, clean and comfortable and the breakfast was nice. Overall I had a great time but I was constantly trying to stave off and hide the frustration of the sub par experience from the hotel.

I’ve DJ’d at the Ro Hotel in Windermere many times over the years, and it’s always a brilliant venue for weddings. The function suites are spacious, the views overlooking the lake are stunning, and it creates an amazing setting for a wedding day. My sound system always sounds great in the room, and the wedding coordinators are friendly, organised and a pleasure to work with. I always look forward to coming back and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a wedding venue in the Lake District.
