Booked self catering accommodation here due to proximity to Scafell. Entrance to hotel is grand but reception seemed tired. Our accommodation Lingard whilst clean was very dated. Walls marked, carpets stained, windows had mould round them. Bathroom blind was spattered in what I assume was toothpaste. Kitchen was fairly well kitted out but a bit of a hotpotch of crockery, but ramdomly 3 gravy boats!! The furniture is dated and cheap and desperately needs a refresh. Not sure why there was a broken mildew covered picnic table in the garden. This could be lovely with a little effort.

Great location. The bedroom was clean, bathroom was spacious aswell. Fridge was in the wardrobes. The food was lovely what was served at the hotel.
Very low quality service . Beds are very old with uneven springs. Beds are singles put together for double! You need to go around and look for someone if you need reception! Basic breakfast for a 4star hotel!! It is hardly a 2star hotel. Honestly i don’t even know how they even come up with the stars! Avoid!
Lovely place, lovely staff, amazing food and quiet surroundings. The animals made our stay as well. Stunning property and grounds but the rooms felt a bit tired. These would definitely benefit from a makeover. We spent two nights here and had one dinner by the bar. I’d absolutely recommend dining there even if it was a bit expensive.
We had a wonderful stay here in the Ennerdale cottage. The place is massive and easy to find. The cottage had plenty of room for the 7 of us. The free roaming animals on the grounds (especially the sweetest Tabby) are a very nice touch. Will surely return next year and stay for longer.
