Brathay Lodge

Great location right in the centre of Ambleside, just a stone’s throw from the bus interchange, with convenient connections to Grasmere and Windermere. The hotel was clean, and our Junior Room was spacious, with lovely views overlooking the lawn and church. Breakfast was a good continental buffet with a decent variety of options. However, it was a little disappointing that there wasn’t a hot breakfast option, such as cooked eggs. Given the price of the stay, having at least a simple hot option would have made the breakfast feel more worthwhile and complete. We had a comfortable stay and really enjoyed the convenient location. I would definitely consider booking again, especially if the breakfast offering included some hot options that made it feel more worthwhile for the price.

Lovely bathroom, dated room. The owner seemed stressed we were checking in early and forgot we had paid for breakfast? Four star accommodation it wasn't unfortunately, they provide a continental breakfast only. Plus they don't remember if you've paid for that! Then there's a suggestive picture at breakfast....not for me!

Affordable, close to town and next to the bus stop, friendly and welcoming staff. Tidy room and in total the lodge was peaceful. Good breakfast with especially lots of fresh fruits, berries and yoghurt. The view from the room was beautiful. Our room was at the highest floor and there's no lift, but for us that was ok. Only one king-size blanket in the bed which we're not accustomed to, was the only (small) con.

Great place to stay. Room was very comfy and clean as was the bathroom (looked to have been recent refurbished) Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice of cereal, fresh fruit and berries, made a very nice change from a full English that most B and B’s provide. Would definitely stay again!
