I came for a solo trip for my birthday weekend as a woman and the hotel was really welcoming and made me feel safe. The hotel itself is a little out of the way so you do need a car to get around. However, the food was really nice. I came in the evenings and had dinner, the first night I had a fillet steak which was cooked perfectly 👌🏻 the guy Jack behind the bar was working alone that night, running the bar and food orders but he still managed to deliver good service with a smile. The second night I had a chicken burger which was okay but again the staff Jack and George delivered great service with a smile and really welcoming. I will definitely stay at this hotel again after this experience. The hottub rooms are worth booking even if you're on your own.

Absolutely unacceptable — nothing like the pictures We were due to stay here for my 25th birthday and, more importantly, I had specifically chosen this hotel because I was planning to propose to my partner during our stay. I had contacted the hotel twice before arriving to let them know about the proposal, and I had even pre-paid flowers. The photographs on Booking.com made the hotel and spa look beautiful, so we were genuinely looking forward to what should have been a really special trip. Unfortunately, what we were faced with was completely different. The first room we were given was in an absolutely unacceptable condition. The bathroom had mould and dirt throughout, the bath was heavily stained and discoloured, and there was general grime and muck everywhere. The taps were even producing what appeared to be gunk and dirty residue. We complained and were moved to a second room, only to find that this was no better. The bedding was visibly stained, including what appeared to be makeup and period stains. The bathroom was again filthy, with a stained and discoloured bath that was so bad it looked black in places. Even the outside terrace area around the hotel was filthy and clearly hadn't been properly cleaned or maintained. What made the situation even more disappointing was that, despite informing the hotel twice beforehand that I intended to propose to my partner there, when we arrived there was absolutely no indication that anybody knew about it. There was no acknowledgement of the occasion and no sign that the information we'd provided had been passed on. After numerous complaints from both myself and my partner, to the point where we actually left the hotel and then returned, the hotel manager did eventually apologise for the situation and offered to help. I appreciate the manager eventually acknowledging what had happened, but by that point the experience had already been severely affected. This was supposed to be a really special trip. It was my 25th birthday, I was proposing to my partner, and we'd made plans and spent money specifically to make the occasion memorable. Instead, the condition of the hotel completely overshadowed it. I did still propose to my partner, but rather than being able to enjoy our engagement and birthday celebration at the hotel, we ended up driving home afterwards. It's especially disappointing because the hotel had been made fully aware beforehand that this was a special occasion. We weren't expecting perfection, but we certainly expected basic cleanliness, hygiene and some level of care. The owner seriously needs to consider a massive overhaul of this hotel from top to bottom. There is a huge difference between what is advertised in the photographs and what we experienced in person. It is particularly disappointing when you compare it with their sister property, Lakes Hotel and Spa, which sets a completely different standard. This hotel currently does not come close to competing with it. I would strongly recommend that management actually inspect the rooms and bathrooms themselves rather than relying on appearances or photographs. A hotel and spa simply should not be accepting guests into rooms in this condition, especially when people are paying good money for what is supposed to be a relaxing and enjoyable stay. For us, what should have been a memorable birthday and engagement trip became an experience we unfortunately won't forget — and not for the reasons we had hoped
Some of the reviews worried me, but our stay has been perfect. We booked the wrong week and they had no reason to help us out during peak season, but they did. The rooms were great with amazing views. The breakfast is amazing value and the food in the evening is great too - not high end, but totally fine. The spa is clean and well equipped and we loved it. The service and staff are fantastic too. They are refurbishing outside and when it’s done we will be back!
My 🇦🇺 wife and I found our way to this nice hotel late on a Tuesday 8th and they had a room for two nights, which we appreciated. Awesome view of the lake and located out of the town, so you’re away from the tourist crowds which are plentiful this time of the year. Be aware there are lots of steps, given the hotel is built on the side of a hill. The lower part of the hotel is currently undergoing renovations/expansion. Nice meals and selection of drinks, but the weird thing I encountered on the first evening, when asking if the Wimbledon tennis could be put on the TV in the bar/reception area instead of the screen showing the weather page, was that only the FIFA World Cup matches could be shown 🤨. Suffice to say, the following day when the British player, Arthur Fery, was playing the team were good enough to put it on while we had some drinks at the bar.
We stayed in a Superior Double Room with View for 2 nights in July. Unfortunately, we experienced some noise issues from the restaurant above, but Adam and Keira at reception handled the situation brilliantly. Their professionalism, kindness, and willingness to go the extra mile completely turned our experience around. Outstanding service — they are a true asset to the hotel. The room and the view were absolutely breathtaking — 100/100
