Ambleside Salutation Hotel

Hotel was ok. It didn’t live up to the expected hype if I’m honest but maybe I’ve been watching too much 4 in a bed… Room was tired in places, mould under the sink basin, sofa was filthy and weird shape to room (loft 7). Tv at an angle which means have to crick neck to watch. Steam sauna never got that hot which meant you have to stand up. Other than that the room was good. Chap on reception (short, balding) was extremely rude and just a bit odd. All other staff very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast really isn’t anything to write home about and the worst part. I’d advise all guests not to bother and go elsewhere which is what we did on the final morning. Porridge tasted like made with water. Pastries like from frozen/reheated and cooked breakfast was of poor quality. On the plus, hot tub in room was good and staff generally friendly. Didn’t take a photo of sink but staff should check it out. Location is excellent too btw, esp for walks.

Back at the Sally again. Greeted warmly at reception, staff recognised me were able to address me by name without having to tell them. Reception carried out registration in a professional and efficient manner. During my stay nothing could be too much trouble. The room I had was just what I wanted, spotless, clean, well maintained. The room was serviced each day. usually while I was at breakfast. House keeping staff pleasant, efficient, professional and smiling. Restaurant meals were very good and in my opinion good value for money.. Staff were polite attentive but not overbearing. Swimming pool was put to good use. The general ambience of the hotel was excellent

The room was quite dark and hot, and I didn't feel there was enough lighting overall. However, it was clean and well maintained.The breakfast was very nice, with plenty of food and good quality options. The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming, and explained everything clearly.The spa facilities were okay. However, the overall design and atmosphere of the hotel felt more suited to senior guests than to younger travellers. Overall, it was a pleasant stay with a few areas that could be improved.

Lovely hotel all round. Staff are attentive and polite. Our fridge wasn’t working and they provided ice and milk upon request. No biscuits in the room but apparently they are provided on request.sauna wasn’t working on the two occasions I tried it. Room and bathroom a little on the small side but we had a wonderful balcony. Breakfast was good and they accommodated all requests perfectly.
