When I originally booked this resort, based on the reviews, I expected a "you get what you pay for" kind of experience. I could not have been more wrong. The Acoya was such a great find and my friend I had an excellent time there! The rooms were clean and well maintained. The pictures really do not do the rooms justice at all. The buildings themselves are showing some wear and tear ie some peeling wallpaper, dark patches in the pool paint and some puckering plaster, but none of it took away from our enjoyment of the place. The beds were extremely comfortable, bedding was very clean, and there was ample storage in our rooms, ie a vanity for hanging clothes, with shelves, a safe and drawers. There were also nightstands that had drawers. The bathrooms had storage as well, behind the mirror, the showers were spacious and the towels were replenished each day. The kitchen was fully equipped, as promised, and fully operational. The living room was comfortable and cozy and the TV worked well. There were a few hiccups, but nothing major and I didn't really care, ie - if you book direct through the website, you're supposed to get a free minibar ie some free drinks and these were not present when we checked in. But we mentioned it to the front desk and they brought them over shortly thereafter, which was lovely! - the service at the Laguna was "slow", even when we were one of the only tables with patrons and only order appetizer and drinks - I sent an email before arriving with some questions and it took several days for an answer to arrive, but when the reply came - it was detailed and helpful The staff: Our housekeeper in particular was lovely - I had a nice chat with her and she was not only a sweet, older woman from Jamaica - she also cleaned our rooms IMPECCABLY each day! The staff was always helpful but not what some people might call "friendly", ie if you expect service with a smile or bowing and scraping. But they were never rude and efficient with requests. I was very grateful to have met everyone, particularly the staff at the Laguna, who were amazing and so fun! The front desk staff were lovely as well - I so very much appreciated them and honestly everyone we met! The spa staff drove away our cares with relaxing massages. Thank you to everyone at Acoya for making our vacation special!! I wish you all the best!! Ultimately, if you're there for a clean, safe place to rest your head at night and for a bite, a swim and maybe a massage - all for a bargain - you're in the right place! If you expect perfect service and you're going to complain every time something goes a bit wrong, this may not be the stay for you. As far as I'm concerned when you are on vacation, you're supposed to take it slow, but some people might mind - hence the fair warning. All in all though, I loved my stay and would definitely go back to the Acoya!

I recently stayed at ACOYA Curacao Resort, Villas & Spa and overall had a good experience. The resort is beautifully landscaped. I stayed in a one bedroom apartment, which was spacious with a well-equipped kitchen and balcony. There is live music every night, so forget about going to bed early. It’s a 10 minute drive to Petermaai and a little bit further to Punda. The pool area is impressive. You are not on the beach nor walking distance to the beach. The on-site restaurant is on the pricier side; did not go once. Get a rental car drive around the beautiful island.
We are in a two bedroom apartment and it's lovely. We have everything we need for our stay. We can prepare our own meals or eat at the restaurant which is right outside our door. The staff have been helpful and very friendly. The location is central to everything we want to do on the island. They have a shuttle to Mambo Beach and the shopping area. If you are interested they have a car rental option through their website. The car was delivered to me and I don't have to drop it off anywhere, they pick it up. So convenient!
Really poor service across all aspects. We are currently still here and after 6 days we are happy to go back home. But the worse seem to be their Laguna bar. Rude people " can't talk to you right now.. we open at 11.." all i wanted is some ice.. i spent over $400 on food&drinks there and tipped each time, however it did not seem to matter... must be the local culture. The island have thousand of tourists each day from cruises and you can imagine they don't care much . Generally the customer service is inexistent. Same here at Acoya bar and restaurant However there are exceptions: the front desk ladies are awesome. All of them without exception. Also had great experience at Madero Ocean Club where majority of staff are duch. Stay tuned for a more comprehensive review at TripAdvisor. All in all we will return to the island but will never stay here. There are other places right on the beach that are more attractive. .
A solid 4 star resort with well maintained grounds, excellent pool and nice relaxing vibe. Restaurant on site has great food and cocktails and the water fountains show every night at 8 is fantastic. We spend a week at the resort in September and were generally pleased with the quality for the price we paid, we had a good time. The room we paid for was a deluxe one which had a balcony with a view of the pool. We were almost on top of the restaurant which meant loud music until 11 every night so the earplugs I had brought were very much put to a good use. The room had a small kitchenette with cupboards with plates, glasses and cutlery and a mini fridge which we appreciated but there was no sink in the space so we had to use the small bathroom sink which was not the best for washing dishes. The bed was generally good and we slept well. The balcony was great for a morning coffee and watching sunsets. Cleaning staff made our room spotless every day. The staff at the resort was a hit and miss. At arrival the woman that greeted us explained nothing of what the resort offers, just checked us in and took us to the room. I had to ask about everything and it was such a missed opportunity to highlight what the resort has to offer. And on some days the staff we interacted with was nicer and kind and we also loved interacting with all the shuttle drivers from the resort so that definitely improved our experience. The pool and cabanas were great, especially at sunset, I particularly enjoyed my evening swims. The little lagoon was great to walk around and we saw many turtles swimming about. The restaurant on site surprisingly had great food and cocktails, we enjoyed everything we ordered and the staff was nice. The only downside was they were short of staff quite frequently and some days we had to wait quite a long time for our food orders even though the restaurant wasn’t busy at all. We did enjoy all the evening entertainment singers and instrument players were absolutely fantastic, definitely a highlight! The resort is not on the beach but they offer daily shuttle to Mambo Beach so that was convenient. If we wanted to stay longer we just got a taxi back for $20. We generally didn’t use the provided beach club chair at Mambo Beach and instead paid to use Lion’s Dive’s beach chairs by the Chill bar which were $7. That side of Mambo’s beach was better. Mambo beach also offered some great food options. The resort also has a shuttle service to downtown and to a Dutch Supermarket which had everything you can possible want for snacks and sandwiches when we didn’t feel like eating big meals. The shuttle drivers were really nice people. Overall, we had a pleasant visit and great vacation. Curaçao is an amazing island and worth coming back to.
