Great ghost walk in Skipton on Halloween night, the tour guide was really good. It was a big group but she managed to keep everyone together and projected her voice really well so everyone could hear. We took our 8 year old son and the content was fine for him, he loved it! Thank you.

Learn about the history of this infamously unfortunate Church. Dare you stand in its porch on All Saints Eve?
Giving spirits a whole new meaning
Look out for a drunken old lady and her little dog, Tag, as you traverse Thanet's Canal.
Discover Skipton's witches and magical trees...
The word 'skip' in old english translates to 'scaep', meaning 'sheep', so we could go around calling it 'sheepton', but we won't.
Learn all about Skipton's infamous yards. Keep an eye out for their miserable (and very smelly) dead residents...
A pub allegedly haunted by a gang of plagued soldiers. So that's where all the beer goes...
The butcher will end her tour underneath one of Skipton's lovely linden trees. It's prohibited to tell a lie underneath one of those, so give The Butcher your honest review about her tour, but expect the truth in return...

We had a fantastic hour with a new tour guide her first night as the butcher. It was our friends first ever Ghost walk, Which they thoroughly. Enjoyed. Through the streets of Skipton, we twisted and turned, listening to the spooky tales. We all loved it. Tour guide was brilliant. “Tripadvisor you have a golden butcher” Swales party
The ghost tour was a fun way to break up the night. A tour of some of the historic streets in Skipton made entertaining by "The Butcher" who was knowlegable and engaging. There was nothing scary or spooky about it which I was hoping for a bit more but if you want a bit of fun then this is good.
Amazing little tour where you get to hear all of the ghost stories. The butcher was really lovely, funny and drew you in! Definitely recommend it!
A lighthearted one hour walk with tales of the past and some ghost stories. Sprinkled with humour. Good value and you will learn some interesting facts about Skipton.
This was a fun tour, great guide and she took us to lots of interesting places down alleys and canal side including past a watermill. Lots of ghostly tales too
Our guide "the Butcher" gave us a very fun and quirky tour of Skipton and its dark history! We loved the humour and interesting stories. An absolutely fantastic way to spend an hour, we would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Skipton.
**A fun and different way to discover Skipton** I went on the Skipton Ghost Walking Tour with friends, and overall it was a very enjoyable and different way to spend an evening in Skipton. The guide was enthusiastic, theatrical and full of energy, mixing local history, ghost stories, folklore and plenty of humour as we walked through the old streets, yards and along the canal. My friends particularly enjoyed the jokes and laughed along the way. English is not my first language, and my main difficulty was understanding the guide’s strong local accent. Because the experience relies so much on storytelling, I missed the meaning of quite a lot stories and jokes at the time. Afterwards I read more about some of the places and stories from the tour, and I actually appreciated the experience much more once I understood what she had been talking about. I had initially expected something a little more spooky, but in hindsight we also chose a very bright time of day, which naturally took away some of the ghostly atmosphere. The tour is really a mixture of dark local history, folklore, ghost stories and British humour rather than a “ghost hunt” — and for the price I think it offers very good value. One small suggestion would be a short written summary or QR code with the main stories and locations. It would be really helpful for international visitors or anyone who finds a strong local accent difficult to follow. Overall, a fun, unusual and good-value introduction to another side of Skipton.
My husband and I booked this tour on a rare child free weekend away in Skipton and we’re not disappointed. From the very beginning, The Butcher was entertaining, engaging and extremely knowledgeable. She had the perfect balance of knowledge, comedy, scary tales and lingering eye contact to make the hour long walk very enjoyable. We purchased the optional emotional support ghosts (to then gift to our children afterwards), and they were a delight, very cute and cuddly, so much so I almost couldn’t pass it on to our 8 year old!
Lovely lady who gave us the tour, very funny and sweet, great fun, thankyou!
A fun and very informative tour. The tour guide 'The Butcher' was full of information and puns. We learned a lot of interesting facts about the history of Skipton and related ghost stories. Would definitely recommend.
Tour guide arrived 5 minutes early and Tour started on time. 'The Butcher' was very informative about the history of locations around Skipton but also told of ghosts in the area too. This was done in a light hearted and amusing way. My favourite were the sticky ghosts. If you want to know more about that then you need to do the tour lol
Informative, funny and sometimes slightly scary. A very knowledgeable guide and well worth the money
Great tour. So much information given in a very entertaining way by “The Butcher” Would highly recommend
The tour was a great chance to learn more about the history of Skipton and The Butcher was very good at making it super spooky! We went for the 6:30 tour so it was still light, but I’d definitely recommend doing the later one so it’s dark if you want it to be extra spooky!
Plenty of information about lots of ghosts around Skipton,. Great acting, great jokes, great tour!
A good fun hour! We loved our emotional support ghosts. Couldn’t always hear the lady very well but that’s usually the case with these walking tours. She had a good repertoire of puns.
Took my mum for a different mothers day eve! Very entertainng, funny and informative. Booked the later evening slot so it would be extra spooky! Host was really funny and in charachter, we visited lots of different places and learn about a lot of historical facts about skipton that i didn't already know as a resident of the town! would deffinatley reccomend to others for something different to do!
Our guide was very knowledgeable, we learned a lot about the history of Skipton. The stories were pitched just right for a family tour, lots of grisly facts without being roo scary. Would reccoment this to families
Fun experience, the Butcher was very entertaining and knowledgeable. Not to frightening so suitable for all the family.
Went with friends and family from 17 to 54 years old and all enjoyed it. Very informative, organised with a little theatrical flair. Good pace and a great way to see Skipton.
It was my first ever ghost tour and I really enjoyed it. Although I personally did not experience any unusual things I found the historical side very fascinating as I've been coming to Skipton for many years. Our ghost guide, The Butcher, was amazing and would definitely go on another tour next year. ☺️ 👻
Lovely tour, lots of interesting information Kept the teenager engaged , got to learn some new local history would happily go again
Great little ghost walk! Young lady did a great job. Loved hearing the history of Skipton and its buildings. Would highly reccomend.
The Skipton Ghost Tour is a really informative and entertaining experience — full of fascinating local history, good humour, and a few spooky twists! The guide brings the stories to life with great energy, and it’s just a fun way to spend an evening exploring the town. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Skipton!
Attended the Skipton ghost walk this evening (11 October 2025). Started outside the castle, walked to the church next door, part onto the canal and down the side street and yards. I have visited Skipton over the years but some of the side streets and the way they connected back to the main street were new. I enjoyed the mixture of history alongside the added ghost stories - all relayed clearly and easy to understand. Something for the sceptics as well as the believers with the stories! The walk lasted an hour which was long enough and was well paced out. Enjoyed it! Thank you!
The Butcher did such an amazing job giving us a tour of not just the ghosts but also the history of Skipton. I 100% recommend and would definitely go again!
Thoroughly enjoyed this ghost walk even in the rain. Fun and informative. Easy walk for all ages, sadly no ghost's seen lol
Excellent tour around Skipton taking in the castle gates, church, canal backstreets and squares in the town. Fun and informative. The Butcher did a fabulous job of keeping us informed, entertained, keeping us together and safe (not just from the roads but any ghosts along the way!) Recommended for locals too!
Had a great time on the walking tour! Tanisha did an amazing job of telling us all about the spooky stuff going on in Skipton, with some jokes and history thrown in as well. The route was easy to navigate, making it an activity for everybody! Thank you!
My 16 year old granddaughter and myself thoroughly enjoyed the Skipton ghost tour with The Butcher. Lots of interesting history , ghostly and otherwise, with some humour thrown in. Suitable for all ages .
Fantastic ghost walk. Tanisha was very knowledgeable about the goolish going ons in scary Skipton. Coming across areas in town that you wouldn't normally come across....
Fun trip and learned a lot about the town . Our guide was great . Took us down some fun streets and alleys . I’m sure it’s better when it’s dark at night but overall a fun experience .
Fun, engaging and interesting experience. 10/10 recommend. Came with a group of 4 of us onto a fairly busy tour. “The Butcher” did an amazing job of keeping everyone and engaged and interactive. Must do in North Yorkshire.
The tour was around Skipton and you learn a lot about the town and its history, and how this links to the characters. The guide was great at bringing to life (ironically) the living dead 👻
A very enjoyable experience. The 'butcher' was very engaging and knowledgeable. Looked the part. The only slight negative was the microphone, did not seem reliable
Really enjoyable tour of Skipton on a lovely evening. The tour guide was very knowledgeable with some great relevant corny jokes!. Lovely lady. Even our dog Alfie enjoyed it.
My first time in Skipton so decided for a ghost tour. The young lady who played the butcher was very friendly and knowledgeable about the tour. Her jokes and side jokes were a bit corny but very entertaining, she put on a wonderful performance and the tour wasn't too bad either.
A great tour, ‘The Butcher’ was very entertaining! A gentle walk, finished at the pub, great stuff!!
The guide was very interesting .descriptive and amusing during her stories of paranormal happenings in Skipton. We will think differently now as we walk around the town.
Fab little tour by The Butcher. Really interesting and she was very knowledgeable. Who knew there were so many spooky goings on in Skipton? Really enjoyed it thank you
Really wonderful experience walking in skipton. Lady who did the tour was amazing. She made everyone so engaged during walks. Very entertaining overall.
Really great stories and lovely walk around Skipton. Perfect on a nice evening, would highly reccomend. The Butcher (tour guide) was so lovely and did amazing, espeshially with a few unwelcomed distractions from people who had too many pints in the passing pubs
My wife and I did the brilliant Otley Ghost tour so thought we'd give the Skipton one a try. It certainly lived up to our expectations and we thoroughly enjoyed an hour touring Skiptons streets and alley ways and learning of its interesting and spooky history. "The Butcher" was our guide and she was engaging, funny and kept us entertained for a fun hour!.
I loved this tour! Time well spent. The Butcher is such a good story teller, informative, funny and creepy. Definately recommend to go join this tour!
Our Butcher was excellent - creepy, amusing and informative! She kept us all fully engaged with her tales of creepiness and added lovely little details which also made us laugh out loud at times! We would thoroughly recommend the Skipton Ghost Walking Tour, as it was the perfect way to really get under the skin of the town and find out what makes it tick!
Gentle walk suitable for children v informative not too scary Pleasant way to spend an evening in skipton and learn more about its history
I came all the way from Holland to experience the ghost tour in Skipton and enjoyed it immensely! The butcher spoke with great humor and was good in her role. My compliments to her! She also involved everyone which is not easy with a group of 19 people. I recommend this ghost tour to anyone who wants to learn more about Skipton in a special way.
Just back from tour of skipton ghost walk. Really, really, enjoyed. The young lady told the story of the history with knowledge and humour. Brilliant 👏
