Martinborough Foodie Half Day Tour From Wellington

My mother, auntie and I had a great food and wine trip with Phil into Martinborough and surrounding areas. He was very informative of all the areas we went to. I would definitely recommend this trip.

A most enjoyable day out with Phil our guide who was incredibly knowledgeable about most everything we did and the places we visited, all of this delivered with a healthy dose of dry wit. I was extra impressed at the effort he went to to go trying to locate a booked guest who wasn't at the pickup point,going into the hotel and having them call the room as well as numerous calls himself to the number eventually doubling back once everyone was on board in a last ditch attempt to locate the missing person which he did.👏

Incredible drive with amazing scenery.Phil our guide was fantastic! The Moy Hall Wineyard wine & cheese tasting was great and the optional lunch was Fantastic! Then the chocolate tasting has a wide variety. The trip back over the mountains was just a good and the first time.

We booked with ZoZo. Booking was easy and we found it convenient and a good value. Athena was charming and knowledgeable. The wine and chocolate tastings were delightful. The cheese tastings was a bit oversold and disappointing. We also went off course for about 20m due to the guide being distracted while speaking with a guest, which cut into our time to shop and explore. The van door also would not properly close. Overall we were pleased.

This was a good look at the beautiful countryside outside of Wellington travelling through the mountains into farmland. Athena was excellent and provided some great historical background of the area. This tour however was barely a Foodie/Wine tour. The cheese and wine samples were meagre. 4 small tastes of wine and a small board with two cheese samples for 6 people to share. If you want to experience the area outside of Welllington this is a good tour, but if you’re going for wine and food you’ll be disappointed.

A beautiful drive through the mountains to wine and cheese tasting and then chocolate tasting. It was all delicious. Athena was an amazing guide. We had a great overview of the history and she was very accommodating.

Not a real ‘foodie’ tour. Food included is only a cheese plate at Moy Hall winery and chocolate tasting at Schoc Chocolate

We were lucky to have the whole tour to ourselves and got a lovely tour guide, Gary. Gary told us lots of stories about the city and the Martinborough region, which was super educational since it was our first trip to Wellington. Gary even helped us replan our tour and took us to a winery that totally didn't disappoint. We ended up buying a couple of bottles to enjoy for the rest of our NZ trip. Highly recommended!

We were lucky - only the two of us on the tour. Our guide became of friend during the tour. Wine, cheese and chocolate were all delicious. Time for a little shopping too.

Having been to Wellington before, I was looking to do something beyond the city and this half day foodie tour was perfect. Three stops on the tour in three different towns to visit a cheese shop, chocolate shop and winery. Tasting at the chocolate shop was especially fun. Phil was a great guide, very knowledgeable and friendly. He’s thought of everything on this tour, including providing reusable cups for coffee and sick bags for those windy roads. If I’m back in Wellington again, I’ll make sure to go on the full day tour!

I booked this at 930 pm the night before I wanted to go and there was no availability so I was tagged along with a full day tour and picked up and returned to Wellington that afternoon. This was over and above expectations. The tour was amazing Cheese tasting good Chocolate blind tastings so good and a whole lot of fun. Wine tasting at Poppies the best and my cheese platter OMG it was next level delishiousness. I have lost my card to order from Poppies so if you could send it yo me ehen you see this review that would be amazing.... Totally recommend this trip...

Athena was our guide and she was great! It was just myself and my friend on the tour but she was super friendly, really chatty and knowledgeable

We booked this tour a day before and were a little worried if it would still take place. But as soon as we good an email about the trip and all the information everything went smoothly. Phil picked us up in front of the hotel and guided us all around. Such a beautiful and educational experience with personal touch and friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend!

I had such a great day out and I appreciate this company’s flexibility in making the day happen for me. The stops are great - the guessing game at Schoc chocolates is a highlight and Poppies’ cheese platter was outrageously good. As are the wines, and I happily bought a glass to go with my cheese platter. The commentary is amusing and thoughtful. Was nice to get out of the city for the day and visit some smaller towns. I really rated this day tour. Thanks!

Despite the rain and windy weather we had the best time. Loved the cheese shop and selection of cheeses for our charcuterie board at Moy Hall winery. The wines are excellent and paired well with the cheeses. It was lovely seeing the town of Martinborough. The chocolate shop with the 12 tastings was a great way to finish the outing.

A must when In Wellington. The guide was informative and gave us plenty of time to see things. The food at Martinborough Vinery was amazing (we had the lamb) and the wines were just as good. The cheese was very good especially the award winning cheese was to die for. Chocolate tasting was fantastic with plenty to taste and buy.

We were disappointed in this tour. Our guide turned out to be just a driver and has only been on the job for a month which meant we had no commentary and he had no idea what he was doing especially toilet stops. At least the cheese tasting stop was the highlight of the day. The wine tasting was average plus we had lunch at this stop which was very expensive. The chocolate tasting was okay - very strange flavours but was very expensive - I personally wouldn't buy at that price. I personally reached out to the owner on the day giving feedback. For what we experienced on the day wasn't value for money

Tracy the tour guide and driver was fantastic! She even gave my mom a sample of a facial lotion that my mother was thankful for. If Tracy can send us the link on how we can get more it would be much appreciated. The tour was absolutely fantastic especially the cheese and wine tasting!

We were given a wonderful and informative tour by our guide. She took us to a wonderful cheese shop to taste a wonderful winery for tasting and a meal.

Tracy was informative and a great driver for our day. Cheeses and chocolates were delightful with a wine tasting and lunch in between. It was great to see Martinborough for the day just outside of Wellington. Highly recommend for smaller, more intimate group setting.

Jon was very personable, as well as being well-informed about the city and its eating places. All the food we sampled was absolutely delicious — and plentiful. Really enjoyable time.

Our group of 4 adult women loved the trip over the hill to Martinborough. We enjoyed trying chocolates, cheeses, and wines! Phil had so much information about the area. Such a pleasant day and a quick snapshot of a big area!

Anything involving this part of the world is sweet as. However this guide made it extra special with everyone he knew.

The tour was amazing. Our guide Phil was extremely knowledgeable about the area and we had an absolute blast on our trip in Wellington. As we had limited time in the city, we had opted for the half day tour but after our tour we wished we had taken the full day tour instead. Couldn't recommend Zozo Travel enough !

What a magnificent day! Michael, our host and driver, made us feel so welcome. He knew his stuff, and how to handle the van over the mountain roads without scaring anyone :) Can't speak highly enough of Zozo, Moy Hall Winery, Poppies Winery, C'est Cheese and Schoc Chocolates. So glad we decided to do this tour!

We had an enjoyable day on our 1/2 day foodie trip, our tour guide Michael was a real asset to our day out, knowledgeable, entertaining and we had many laughs along with him, we enjoyed the cheese, chocolate and Winery visits, would highly recommend this tour.

Was long beautiful drive through mountains, however the wine tasting was not good, had to pay for your own food. The chocolate tasting was at separate location and was some odd horrible chocolate flavors. Last the cheese tasting was also at separate third site with no wine. Driver didn’t stop for pics of scenery, and only talked to the passenger in front seat.

Fun day & tastings. Simon was the perfect guide. Recomended for cruise passengers who want to do something else…

An excellent tour to do on a rainy day! The cheese tasting was excellent. Wine and lunch very good, but we'd always like more wine! Chocolate tasting unique. Our driver very knowledgeable and friendly. Recommended for a tour that's not too long. If it is a full tour, the van may be a little cosy, but we had only 8 on our trip which meant we had space and comfort.

The wine tasting had little description done in a place you had to purchase lunch. The chocolate tasting was standing up in a tiny shop squeezed in with the whole group. Overall not what I would call a foodie tour having been on them before. The driver gave no information

What a fantastic day! Our guide Simon was very knowledgeable and engaging. The drive to the winery was spectacular and lunch at Moy Hall was first class. The chocolate tasting was unique and it was hard to decide what to choose. Finishing off with a cheese tasting ended an excellent tour.

This half day tour was perfect. Our guide Phil was witty and knowledgeable and made the day. We stopped at the Remutaka summit lookout, tasted a variety of unusual chocolate options, enjoyed wine tastings and a delicious lunch and finally some wonderful cheeses. The drive, scenery and stops were just as expected. Would definitely recommend this tour company!!
