We had a wonderful day with our lovely guide Steve who went out of his way to give us a great experience showcasing the area as well as the amazing beautiful wineries we visited. We would thoroughly recommend this tour thanks Steve for making it so memorable

What a fantastic day! A beautiful 1.5-hour drive north of Wellington through some gorgeous scenery, with a couple of photo stops along the way. Our guide and driver was excellent, providing loads of interesting information about the region, its history and local area. We visited three vineyards and sampled over a dozen wines, with each stop offering something different. Lunch at the second vineyard was fantastic, making for a wonderful opportunity to relax, enjoy some great food and, of course, more wine! On the return journey, we also made a quick stop at a gourmet cheese shop, a lovely little bonus to finish off the experience. The tour was well organized, relaxed and paced perfectly, getting us back to Wellington by 5 pm without feeling rushed. A wonderful combination of beautiful scenery, excellent wines, great food and interesting local insights. Just a lovely day! Highly recommend this tour.
My third time touring with Zozo to Martinborough. An excellent and knowledgeable driver (thank you Phil) with great insight into the area. Most importantly, the vineyards visited are exceptional.
I booked with Tripadvisor. I haven’t used the Viator app before but when I tried to book the same tour on Viator the price seemed double to price on Tripadvisor!
Visited a few wineries. We were presented with a few selections and had a chance to wander around. Overall the experience was great, and the guide was very friendly.
Athena was an incredibly knowledgeable guide with a great perspective on New Zealand’s seafaring history! We loved the 3 wineries that were chosen, can’t fault the experience at all! Would highly recommend and would do again!
We enjoyed the three cellar doors we visited. Steven gave us an overview of the area as we drove to the wine stops. Each had a different variety of wine to taste and the tasting pours were generous. The servers at each were knowledgeable and friendly. We particularly enjoyed the lunch platter at Poppies. So delicious!
Excellent tour and our host Gary was fantastic at highlighting all the sites in history of the region. Wine is amazing and a very unique part of the world.
Great day in Martinborough and Steve was an excellent Driver and Guide for the day, very informative and friendly.
Even on an extremely windy and rainy day, our tour guide, Steve, made sure we had the best experience. He’s extremely knowledgeable about the history of the area and highlighted cool facts along the way. All three wine tastings were excellent. The sommeliers were friendly and knowledgeable. You get a lot of value for the cost of the tour. I highly recommend.
The tour was a perfect way to experience the Martinborough region of New Zealand. At the end of the day I had learned so much about the area, and it's history from our guide, Stephen. And more knowledgeable about the wines of the regions from visits to three wineries.
A superb trip - Joseph our guide was entertaining and full of local knowledge and ensured we had a fantastic day. The vineyards we visited were excellent, very welcoming and thanks to Joseph many of the owners came to say hello - an extra bonus. Great wines. Highly recommend.
Phil was our guide and organized an excellent tour where we visited a small winery with limited production excellent wines that did not export (but he showed us how to arrange to have them economically), a large major producer and a super small maker who does ill The work himself and sells his wine for cash. All were great. Someone from each winery explained their process and product with Phil adding his expertise. An excellent afternoon well spent!
Phil our guide was very knowledgeable and accommodating! Tour pick up was on time wineries selected were very different and each a great experience
An amazing day out in the Martinborough wine region. Our driver/guide Gary made a wonderful experience exceptional with his knowledge and professionalism. 3 wineries and 14 tastings, great value.
Great wine tour! Phil provided great some great insight into the wineries we were attending. He knew a lot about the wines too. Was a small group so very personal tour. The roads to Martinborough were extremely windy but Phil was safe so no concerns there.
Host and driver Gary went above and beyond to make it great for all of us. We learned a good amount about the region and wines.
We had an absolutely fantastic wine tour from start to finish! Everything was perfectly organised, and the wineries we visited were beautiful, each offering a great selection of delicious wines. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the day so much fun with interesting local stories and insights.
Loved our experience, Athena was extremely engaging and shared info about New Zealand and Martinborough history during the drives too and from the vineyard. Lovely range of sights to see along the way too.
A great way to sample some wine and see a bit agricultural New Zealand. The wineries in this valley are pretty and the wines influenced by the very unique microclimate. Stephen was our guide and he was amazing. Last stop was a disappointment- a cheese shop with one tiny sample I wouldn’t call it a tasting experience and would recommend Zoso cleave it from the tour.
This was a tremendous tour. Phil was an excellent guide/driver. Trip was really interesting with three great wineries and stops/lookouts along the way. Phil’s knowledge of wine (broader than Martinborough) was top shelf. Would thoroughly recommend this tour.
Great day. Driver was excellent. Nice wines. Awesome lunch
Each of the wineries we visited had friendly and knowledgeable staff. Willing to go above and beyond to make your tasting experience as enjoyable as possible. Our tour guide was also friendly and knowledgeable as well as pointing out points of interests along the drive and giving us time for a quick picture at several areas.
Zozo Travel is the best option when it comes to a personalized, small group tour of wineries in Martinborough. Phil was very knowledgeable and ensured everyone had a great experience. The trip over the mountain from Wellington to Martinborough is absolutely beautiful! Highly recommend!
We had the most amazing, fun, relaxing day with Phil, our driver. His knowledge about the area, the towns and the wines was extremely fascinating and presented in a fun, chatty style. ( Not like an educator.) Where he stores all that knowledge is a mystery to me. We were a minimum size group and were fortunate to strike wonderful weather. The 3 cellar doors we visited were each different in their own way and their approaches to introducing us to their wines was interesting. Our lunch was worth the extra cost and was divine.Phil ate with us and the chatter and information was smooth and easy.......like some of the wines we tasted. I cannot recommend Zozo Travel Ltd highly enough. Honestly you will be glad you chose them. Guaranteed.
A very enjoyable tour to 3 Martinborough wineries. Gary, our tour guide was a very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable guide and we enjoyed his commentary on our journey out of Wellington. We liked that the chosen wineries all had a different approach to the tasting experience but our favourite was Poppies as we were given more information about each wine and how it was made etc. Lunch at Moy Hill was good but suggest if you have allergies that you ensure that information is given when booked as there isn’t a big choice available. We appreciated that Gary was able to stop a couple of times for us to take photos on our way home. And because our group kept to the time schedule, we were able to make a quick stop at the wine shop in town to buy some bottles as well as at C’ est cheese in Featherstone. We would definitely recommend this tour as it is a great way to see some of the Waipuira Valley outside the Wellington environs and of course- being able to taste some good wine and cheese. Thank you, Gary, for a fantastic day.
Excellent commentary and guide knowledge. A good variety of nice wines to try. Beautiful drive through lush hills. No rush at each stop. Very accommodating guide. Had a wonderful day.
We had a fabulous day on this tour. Our amazing tour guide Gary was a wealth of knowledge. We learnt so much about Wellington, surrounds and the wine region. We had great chats and he answered all our questions with lots of local insights. All the vineyards we attended had a great selection of red and white wines to taste and the lunch we ordered at one of the vineyards was delicious. Highly recommend this tour, we loved it.
Very nice tour with beautiful places and a fantastic guide
We were rewarded with fabulous and informative commentary by our guide the entire trip. The history, scenery, cheese, wine and lunch was truly amazing. This experience is highly recommended.
What a great and fun experience! This weekend we went to a few wineries with Phil and we had a blast! Highly recommend it!!! Thank you
This tour was a beautiful windy day in the mountains at three area wineries. My family truly enjoyed the tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of Wellington.
We thoroughly enjoyed our small group tour to the Martinborough Wine region. The small group allowed us to easily make decisions for the helpful suggestions our driver Stephen offered. He was a great guide and shared information about the region and New Zealand. Zozo Tours accommodated our cruise ship arrival schedule and was very communicative prior to our arrival. Highly recommended.
A great experience. Our driver/guide Athena was knowledgeable, engaging and fun. She shared historical and cultural information as we drove up the Hutt Valley, over the Remutaka range (with a brief stop for photos and views at the summit), down through Featherston, into the wide Wairarapa plain and through the quaintly touristy town of Martinborough. We visited three wineries for generous and informative tastings. The first two wineries were small, boutique affairs, very high quality wines. The second, Moy Hall, included plenty of time for a delicious lunch at Martinborough's top winery restaurant -- superb food and gorgeous surroundings! The final winery was a larger, more commercial operation. Its wines were good but not stellar like the others. The service was rushed and moderately knowledgeable unlike the expert, patient service at the first two. The drive back to Wellington featured a stop at an excellent, picturesque cheese shop in Featherston. Athena was wisely quiet the rest of the way back, as we were all sleepy and sated. Billed as a half day, it's closer to a full day: we were picked up at our hotel of choice around 930 am, and dropped off around 4 pm. Highly recommended.
A fantastic relaxing and informative day out in the vineyards. Phillip was our guide for the day and ensured we kept to time. Loved the three wineries we visited and each presenter was enthusiastic about their wines...was even tempted to buy some! A great day for a large group of friends with wonderful wine, food and transport...thanks Phillip.
Very good information about the Martinborough region and wines. We were the only Kiwis on the tour (others from a cruise ship) and although we have visited Martinborough a number of times, Gary was informative and we learned some new information.
Really nice tastings at 3 different wineries, did feel a little rushed but was nice to stop at cheese shop!
Talk about fun and informative! It all started with the driver and didn't stop until we were dropped off at the end. LOL We visited Poppies, Moys and ... John.
Not mom and pop wineries. Ask questions as information is not really given except about the taste. We are interested in growing techniques and soil and our questions were answered. Guide / driver had a great sense of humor. Lunch food at the second winery was pricy but excellent.
The whole day went so smoothly, and our guide Peter was largely responsible for this. He was very informative and friendly. Each of the wineries had excellent staff who knew their wines and the wine industry, and our lunch was delicious. We tasted some wonderful wines. We would highly recommend this wine tour. Thanks Peter.
Had a wonderful day enjoying some spectacular wines. Our driver Peter was very knowledgeable and ensured we plenty of time for tastings and lunch.
We went to 3 wineries, 1 large & 2 small. The trip over the mountains to get to the vineyards was beautiful. Time always seems to be too short when you're enjoying yourself. Felt a little rushed at the last tasting, Poppies. It was crowded and had to stand at the bar. No water available between pours. I did enjoy the extra stop at C'est Cheese to sample the Brie it's know for.
A day spent wine tasting in New Zealand aka Living the Dream. Zozo tour guides was excellent and had a great sense of humor
Lovely trip to Martinborough , nice small group and nice wineries , great escape the city to see and taste the local wines produced “all the same .. but all very different “ Our guide Gary was lovely guy, very informative and knowledgeable and also a trooper , we left items in the bus and he went out of his way later to return them to our hotel and most probably in his own time ! Thank you very much
This was a very enjoyable and informative tour of the Martinborough wine region. Simon our guide was so enthusiastic and knowledgable and the three different winery experiences were all excellent.
This was a lovely day visiting 3 wineries and having lunch at #2. Each winery was excellent but my husband and I enjoyed Poppies. Lunch was excellent! Our driver, Michael talked to everyone and learned our names! He was very knowlegable about the area and told us stories. He was a cautious driver stopping the van to explain things to us. Even though it was a rainy day, Michael make it sunny for us! It was the right amount of time for wine tasting!
Fantastic wine tour, Gary was excellent and very knowledgeable , his choice of wineries was brilliant. Martinborough is a lovely place and the wineries are all close together.
Very nice day with lunch available and nice drive through the mountains. Terrific tour guide Gary was wonderful!
Good sample of wines from 3 wineries. Scenic drive to see some countryside is always good to get out of the busy city
Beautiful tour of three wineries Our guide, Simon, very personable and knowledgeable about the area and wines Also a very good driver on the winding roads
