This hotel was booked by our tour operator. It offered a great balance of price, good location close to Cuba street, Te Papa, shops and buses. The room was a little dated inside with no cooling ( although you could actually open a window), a portable electric heater , no fan in bathroom. Access through several manual doors once on your floor could be a challenge for some but building security was great. Some challenges with room gear like kettle not fitting under sink but minor issues. The staff were amazing in every way and friendly and in particular when my travelling companion left his backpack behind Sophie absolutely went out of her way to ensure it was couriered to our next destination. What a champion! Bed comfortable and rooms clean

This is far from a 4 star hotel. 1. Massive roadworks outside which I wasn't informed of when I phoned to make the booking. This meant I had to find a cafe to work in. 2. No aircon, only a weird fan heater in the room. No extra blanket for the bed either. The hallways were freezing cold. 3. I couldn't enjoy a drink or dinner in the bar area as it was so cold, I noticed other guests in their winter jackets wearing scarves and beanies who left the bar also. 4. No milk in the room. They say "on request", but I've never stayed at a hotel where you have to ask....4 star hotel? 5. Short old-school shower head and poor water pressure, horrid shower curtain to slap you on the way out of the poor shower. 6. A bag of rubbish was left on the floor in my room. ..... I could go on, but the location is fantastic. I have stayed here many times in my life but it's not what it used to be, sadly.
This place is a tired, old, smelly dump. There is no climate control literally no AC. The showers are like those metal prison cell showers you get at beach public changerooms, you walk straight out into a construction site, the hallways have these mental asylum style doors everywhere and it's so weird to navigate to your room. The bar and restaurant is so tired and gross - Im nervous for breakfast. It's in a good location with reedeems it but it feels like I'm staying in a $50 pay by the hour roadside motel somewhere not in the CBD of the capital of New Zealand... Lol I could NEVER recommend this place for anyone on business this as bad as it gets. Gross.
Stayed 2 nights, great staff, comfy beds, warm room, nice shower - the flow adjustment a lil tricky. Limited parking - but handy. We ate dinner at City Dining - really disappointed. Great wait staff and drinks. I ordered entree smoked salmon with Green apple slices - tiny portions, no apple slices. I explained prob with dish to waitress. Not worth $24. My daughter ordered french onion soup - very tasty but lightly warm. I ordered lamb chops - one piece of very thin meat with lots of bones in it - not a lovely lamb dish I was expecting - not worth $45 dish at all. We had mac n cheese as a side - very nice.
Great service, everyone was so friendly and accommodating. Great central location, very limited parking onsite, we were very grateful to get 1 space onsite for my mum and 1 at the parking building behind the hotel for the same price. All though rooms are older they were clean with all the necessities, perfect for our quick trip. Would definitely stay again.
