I booked 2 weeks ago and both Booking.com and the hotel website stated parking was not bookable - it was first come/first served. When I arrived, the carpark was less than half full, so I requested parking, but was told it was fully BOOKED, and I needed to have booked it in advance. Surprisingly, I asked how when both platforms said this was not permitted. I drove around for almost an hour trying to find a park, but ended up leaving my car at a friend's place in the western hills (she was not home), then taxied back. She would pick me up the next day. I was a bit annoyed that the first come/first served thing was not actually a thing. My room was clean and tidy and met my needs, however, a huge air conditioning unit was directly outside the window and hummed all night; the room was very hot; the bed rock hard; and the pillows fat and hard - resulting in a sore neck and a migraine the next day. The staff were friendly. If I stayed again, I would BOOK parking in advance regardless of what the sites say, and take my own pillow and ear muffs.

Well kept hotel and amenities. Close to where we needed to go for the weekend. And really close to Queensgate mall which was a bonus. Friendly staff. Easy parking
For. 5 star I did expect perfection so my standards were high. The feel, smell and look of the reception and room were top notch. But if I’m being picky the kitchen tap was starting to show rust on the top, the silicon around the kitchen counter was shocking, the dirt and dust sitting on the skirting by the bed could have been cleaned (it was black). I ordered room service at 5.08pm also got an order confirmation, called reception at 6pm to ask how much longer, I was advised ‘they are closed on a public holiday’. I was very disappointed (and hungry) that the web site let me order with no information to say that I couldn’t, on checking in I was not advised the room service and restaurant was closed.
Could have a great stay but the receptionist Asian lady with weird accent is very unhelpful allocating a carpark. Staying in this Hotel doesn’t give you the right to park on there parking area. They just have to kick you out of the street to find your own carpark. Don’t stay here not even recommended.
The Sebel Lower Hutt is always our first choice. All the rooms are modern, clean and very comfortable. We stayed in a deluxe room and it was perfect with plenty of room, a fantastic view of the river and a well appointed kitchen area. We ate at Grazie the on site restaurant and it was first class. Our meals were delicious and the service excellent. Highly recommend
