20260806 - conveniently located less than 5 min walk from railway station and intercity bus stop. This hotel was last renovated in 2022, hence still new and clean. Offers very fast free wifi. I was able to check in already at 7am and appreciate the staff for doing that after overnight bus ride. Room was spacious. Aircon can be adjusted to warm or cool settings during winter. Water pressure was also strong and temperature is hot. Bed is comfy and had a good rest. I will strongly recommend this hotel in wellington!

First time staying with this brand. Our first room had a funky smell. After we dropped our luggage and came back, it was still bad. They were very good about getting us another room. It was much better. Very accommodating. Great location, very easy to walk to everything we wanted to see. Great view of the harbor.
We recently stayed at Rydges Wellington for a couple of days to celebrate our son’s birthday and had a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, it rained for most of our visit, but the beautiful harbour view was still nice on a wet, stormy day. The hotel gym was well equipped, allowing us to keep up with our workouts during our stay. The location was also excellent, with plenty of amenities and attractions within easy walking distance. We made use of the valet parking service, which was convenient and hassle-free. On our first afternoon, we ordered a cheese platter to our room, and it was delicious and a lovely way to unwind after arriving. One of the highlights of our stay was dinner at Portlander Restaurant. The food, service, and atmosphere were exceptional, making it a memorable evening. I would highly recommend it for anyone celebrating a special occasion. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return to Rydges Wellington in the future.
I stayed at Rydges Wellington for 11 nights in a Level 15 suite overlooking the city. The room was clean, comfortable and well-equipped with a fridge, microwave, and tea and coffee facilities. The shower had excellent water pressure, which was a nice bonus after a long day. I had breakfast every morning, and this is where the experience was a little mixed. I can't fault the quality of the food—it was fresh and tasty, with all the usual hotel breakfast options including eggs, bacon, mushrooms, pancakes, cereal, plus a nice selection of juices and flavoured milks. During the week, breakfast was excellent (my only complaint is the plate warmer was either off or not working which is terrible in winter). Unfortunately, Saturdays and Sundays were a different story. The restaurant simply couldn't cope with the number of guests. Plates and cups regularly ran out, tables weren't being cleared quickly enough, food stations were constantly waiting to be replenished, and people were overflowing into the hotel foyer just to find somewhere to eat. It felt chaotic and, in my opinion, was more a staffing issue than anything else. Despite that, I enjoyed my stay and would happily stay here again. If the weekend breakfast service was brought up to the same standard as the weekdays, this would easily be a five-star experience.
We recently stayed at Rydges Wellington on Featherston Street to celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday, and it turned out to be a really special experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff made the occasion feel memorable. We were surprised with a complimentary bottle of bubbly and a lovely card, which was such a thoughtful touch and really set the tone for our stay. The location is one of the hotel’s biggest strengths—right in the heart of the city, making it incredibly easy to walk to the waterfront and nearby attractions. We stayed in one of their Executive Suites, and it was fantastic. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, with a great layout and all the amenities you’d expect. The bed was especially comfortable, and it felt like a real treat for a special occasion. One of the highlights was the view from our bedroom—we had an amazing vantage point of the fireworks celebrating the Lunar New Year, which made the experience even more memorable. Service throughout our stay was friendly and efficient. Check-in and check-out were smooth, and staff were always helpful when needed. We also made use of the pool and gym facilities, which were well-maintained and a nice bonus during our stay. Overall, Rydges Wellington was the perfect place to celebrate a milestone birthday. Comfortable, well-located, and with thoughtful touches that made our stay feel extra special—we’d definitely stay again.
