Apollo Lodge Motel

We were thrilled with our stay at Apollo Lodge- quiet, very clean and comfortable, with easy access to the waterfront and free parking on site- priceless! I rang just before we arrived in Wellington to ask if we could drop the car off early at 10am and spend the day exploring on foot, and the lovely manager said that was no problem. When we arrived we were surprised our room was already cleaned and available to us, the housekeeping staff had prioritised getting it ready, which was so helpful. Thanks, we hope to be back!

We enjoyed our stay in a 1 bedroom ground floor unit which was immaculately clean, spacious, and blissfully quiet. Comfortable beds and Smart TV to watch YouTube or log into Netflix, Disney etc. The location is excellent, with plenty of eateries within close walking distance (I recommend Saigon Taste Vietnamese restaurant for great value delicious meals), as well as a big New World supermarket, public transport, Te Papa and the waterfront. The staff at Apollo were welcoming, friendly and accommodating. I look forward to staying again in future.

We used this as our base in Wellington for a few days after driving around the North Island and the location is deceptively good. Although it's nestled in a quiet residential area on the way up to Mount Victoria, you walk five minutes downhill and you're in the commercial district with dozens of shops and restaurants right there, along with bus stops to expand your range. The queen room was a good size, with a distinct kitchen area and a powerful space heater that we had to turn down after the first night. For me, the bed was definitely too soft. Pillows were okay since there was a soft and firm one to pick from. Outlets were sprinkled throughout the room with two end tables and the kitchen table to stash devices. The building is showing some signs of age, with the occasional missing spot of wallpaper or paint. We also had ants exploring our kitchen, so I had to smoosh a few each day. To be clear, this wasn't because the kitchen was dirty, but more that the window and floorboards might need a reseal because the building settled and some gaps formed.

We stayed two nights. Arrived bit late on the Friday evening, but had an easy check-in. Plenty of off-street parking. Room spacious and comfortable. Clean. TV, air conditioning. Coffee, tea and clean shower. Only a very short walk to Courtenay Place with all the bars and restaurants. Also a great place to start for a quick walk up Mt Victoria to lose the calories, gained at Courtenay Place lol.
