Itinerary
Step through the doors of this majestic neoclassical building, often called a temple to American history. Follow your guide into the National Archives Rotunda to learn about the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution while standing before these remarkably preserved documents. Alongside the Bill of Rights and Federalist Papers, you’ll see signatures from famous statesmen such as Alexander Hamilton. Next, explore the Public Vaults Exhibits, where letters from presidents including George Washington and John F. Kennedy are on display. Learn about the Emancipation Proclamation and its role in ending slavery, then see documents connected to the Civil Rights Movement, including a citation issued to Rosa Parks. Finally, in the Rubenstein Gallery, examine the 1297 Magna Carta. Written centuries before the founding of the United States, it profoundly influenced many of the historic documents housed in the National Archives today.

Our guide was Paul who was very knowledgeable about all things 1776. We enjoyed hearing the stories about what we were looking at
Kate was wonderful and very knowledgeable. There wasn’t a question I asked that she couldn’t answer. Wonderful docent.
Jim was a great tour guide. He's obviously a patriot and knows a ton about history. Awesome tour. Would book again for a longer tour.
Very informative tour with a knowledgeable guide who related the history for English visitors including the magna carter
Very informative tour with Annemarie who explained the events and their context to English visitors.
Kate, our guide, did an excellent job. She was able to adapt to our level of English/French while answering all our questions and sharing anecdotes about the treasures of this museum, which she knows perfectly. It was a great experience, and time flew by in her company. We highly recommend this immersion into American culture through this tour. Thanks again to Kate for sharing her passion and knowledge of the subject with us.
Excellent Tour of the Archives, Skip-the-line was the way to go! No waiting or going through the front door during crazy times during the 250th. Our guide Meghan was super knowledgable about all aspects of the Archives...super knowledge of all the exhibits!
This tour was fabulous! Maribeth was so knowledgeable and enthusiastically shared her wealth of information with us. We were there on July 3rd so the Archives were super crowded. She expertly guided our group of 6 through the throngs and knew where to stand to best see and hear things. And getting to skip the outside line and the rotunda line is worth a lot! Yes, you can go to the Archives for free on your own, but I highly recommend taking this tour to get the richest experience. Well worth the money.
Maribeth was a wonderful tour guide. She was a treasure trove of information. I highly recommend using TripAdvisor and especially Maribeth. FIVE STARS!!
We think that all tours should be 2 hours. The archives have a lot more than just our founding documents.
This tour and tour guide brought history to life in a magnificent way. The back stories of the historical documents, as well as the scope of what the archives actually encompass was captivating. We thoroughly enjoyed this experience so very much. My husband had seeing these incredible documents on his “bucket list,” and he was not disappointed.
Mary was a wonderful tour guide. She was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic. She also did great while our 5 year-old was kind of crazy. The whole family enjoyed our time.
It was a wonderful and informative tour. This is whst should be taught in our public schools today. Maribeth was absolutely the best. I highly recommend her!
Brenda was an amazing guide, we felt completely VIP and got so much great information and stories. She's very knowledgeable, got us swift access to documents. The information leading up to the event was unparalleled. Very highly recommend!
Only tour I’ve been on for the Archives but Brenda is hands down the best to do it! Extremely knowledgeable and we appreciated her tour structure. Everyone needs to tour with Brenda!!!
Annemarie added so much value that we cannot imagine the tour with anyone else. She was a wealth of information and enjoyable to be with.
Brenda was a fantastic guide, a fountain of knowledge and enthusiastic historian. She was fun and friendly and my adult daughter and I had a great day with her. I highly recommend!
Excellent presented information with knowledgable, guide Ryan. Included unique historical details and answers to all questions. Impressive collections of documents and objects.
Allen was a superb tour guide! He showed us around the National Archives and was very knowledgeable. There were many school groups there that day but he maneuvered around them to a place where we could hear him or see the documents better. I would highly recommend taking the Archive tour with Allen!
We had a wonderful tour today, and Rebecca was a fantastic guide. We got to see the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and many other important documents. Her depth of knowledge about everything we saw was truly impressive. I would absolutely recommend this tour, and if you can, I would try and have Rebecca as your guide. You will have an amazing time and will walk away with a greater understanding of our founding fathers.
Our experience with our tour guide Annemarie was outstanding and truly beyond our expectations. Annemarie was extremely knowledgeable of all the documents and paintings exhibited throughout the Archives, and expertly explained the many background facts and stories behind what we saw. We could never have appreciated all the documents and paintings we saw without her insights and historical knowledge. It was a joy to interact with her throughout our entire time together.
This tour was amazing! The small group setting and VIP access was very helpful. Our tour guide Maribeth was the BEST and very knowledgeable. Lots of new information was shared.
Our guide was caring, polite and showed us many things we might have missed. Ryan knew all the history and background stories to every document and area of the museum. Thanks, Ryan, for a great experience.
I have to praise the communication from Kate and Babylon! Kate was knowledgeable and entertaining as well. These founding documents have so many lores attached to them and it was interesting to hear them. Some facts I had to pull from my memory banks from school and others were new information to us. Kate provided a thorough walk through history!
We had an unforgettable experience with Babylon Tours in Washington, D.C.! Our guide, Meghan Hanson, truly made the tour interactive and engaging. She was polite and approached every question with enthusiasm, providing thorough insights. I loved how she brought the city's history to life in such a fun and informative way. The small group allowed us to explore at our own pace, which felt so personal. If you're looking for a unique perspective on D.C., I highly recommend Babylon Tours!
The experience with a guide I think is very inportant. Brenda our guide was excellent and we learned so much with all the historical facts and stories. That is the only way to see the National Archives in our opinion. We spent 2 1/2 hours there which is pretty good.
My family of 4 went on this tour with Kate as our guide (there were no additional participants) just a couple of days ago. It was fabulous! Kate was kind, knowledgable, funny and engaging. We learned so much about the Archives, documents and other cool items housed at the Archives. She answered all of our annoying questions with patience. Would highly recommend! Ask for Kate!
Marybeth was an incredible guide for our small group tour of the National Archives. She was knowledgeable, engaging, and made the history feel meaningful and alive. Her explanations were clear, her passion was evident, and she created a welcoming, personal experience for everyone. One of the best tours I’ve ever taken — highly recommend!
Had a fantastic tour today with Kate - she’s extremely knowledgeable and funny. She navigated us expertly through the archives and showed us items and told us stories we would never have experienced on our own.
AnneMarie Voss was terrific. She is personable and exceptionally knowledgeable. Our experience was greatly enhanced
Great vibe, good information and history along the way! We lucked out they were showing the entire constitution the week we were here. It was just 4 of us so felt very private and easy to ask questions👍🏼 We spent too long on the portraits above the Declaration of Independence and constitution. We left a little early due to other plans but it was great tour very knowledgeable✅
Knowledgeable and friendly! We had a great time on our tour, and learned a lot about the history of the documents and the art within the building.
It is impossible to adequately describe the incredible tour provided by Maribeth. Worth every penny. She is an incredible resource of information. Great energy and excitement about the National Archives. She brought her own additional materials to add to the experience and gave detailed insights to most if not all the signers of the Dec of Ind. She also helped me propose by slowing the crowd in front of our founding document. So very grateful for such a warm personal experience from an impassioned professional. She is the Bees Knees and the Cats Pajamas.
Maribeth our tour guide was exceptional. Not only was she friendly and enthusiastic she was extremely knowledgeable. Regardless of whether you’re into American History or not I highly recommend this tour. Seeing the original American constitution is pretty special.
Annmarie was an excellent, very knowledgeable guide who got us up close and personal to the documents ahead of the crowds! She let us in on a couple secrets, and explained the paintings, building, documents, etc with more details and information than you would know otherwise. Can you find 2 errors in the Declaration? Find Lincoln in the Declaration painting?
We enjoyed our tour so much with Annamarie and we will recommend her to anyone we know is traveling to D.C. After traveling around the country and seeing so many interesting things—we know getting a great tour guide should be a priority. Babylon has a fantastic guide and we will recommend Annamarie and use Babylon in the future.
Ryan was an excellent guide. He added a lot of interesting facts and delivered them in an entertaining way. It would not have been as memorable of a visit if our group had done a self guided tour.
Paul was perfect! Very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. The tour was timed so we seen everything we wanted but never felt rushed. He added his own personal touches that really set it apart. He even looked up one of our interest at the archives. Would recommend Paul and this tour to anyone.
Very interesting tour. Brenda was a very knowledgeable and did rush us through the archives. As I was translating some key points to my group, she would stop so that I could do this.
What a wonderful and insightful tour Donna gave to us. The detailed history she provided was amazing that it just came alive to us. Would highly recommend Donna for any of her tours that she is leading
Annemarie was the best guide! She went into juicy details about the documents that enriched my love for my country and what the founding fathers went through. She answered all our questions with knowledge and patience.
Skip the line was obviously worth it. Our tour guide, Annemarie, was friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. Highly recommended!
We had an amazing tour of the National Archives with Donna! She was so knowledgeable and patient with our kids. We learned a lot and had a great time. Highly recommend!
Our tour guide Annemarie was amazing! I could have listened to her talk about the documents in the Archives all day long!
Meghan was our tour guide and she was amazing. The information was delivered with great humor and relevance to today’s time so easy understanding. We learned a lot!
Meghan was absolutely fantastic. So knowledgeable and explained everything so well. I’m so so so glad I did this tour. She made me feel like I was in a super fun history class!!
