It’s a really great time! We got to explore an area of DC we haven’t really explored Charlotte was a little bit more and played a fun game. The puzzles were not too difficult, but challenging enough to keep us interested.

We had a great time playing the Escapely Adams Morgan game. We particularly enjoyed the sculpture garden portion of the game. We found the game to be a challenging yet reasonable difficulty overall, and we liked that the experience was self-paced. We're looking forward to trying another Escapely game soon!
EASY PICKUP: - Open 24/7 - Game was available next day after order - Accessibility: No steps, nor entryway lip/threshold to enter; pull door without automatic door openers (relatively accessible to wheelchair users) EASY TO MODERATE DIFFICULTY: 5/10 (we are avid escape room users, so we found this to be pretty easy, but still fun) TONS OF FUN: We loved that it made us notice hidden gems or new details of familiar places. We even learned some history. Several of the clues were very clever. It was the best of escape rooms and scavenger hunts combined! TIME TO COMPLETE: About 2 hours and 15 minutes ACCESSIBILITY: Videos had transcripts. This may be difficult to enjoy for players who are blind or low vision. Though the clues can potentially be read by screen readers or other teammates, many clues require you to scan the external environment visually to look for clues. This could still be done with assistive tech of course, but is simply something to consider. The envelopes in the box were also only differentiated visually, and contain visual information. One person in the group needs to know how to use a QR code and have a device that can access the internet and the QR codes. It may also be helpful to have access to Google Maps. Most locations were mobility accessible with curb cuts that have rumble strips, sidewalks, and ramps to enter. There are 6 steps without railings, nor high contrast to differentiate them, to enter Kalorama Park from Columbia Rd. However, if you take the entrance from the intersection of 19th St and Kalorama Rd, there appears to be a ramped entrance. There were plenty of places to find shade and a few places where you could sit on a bench or wall. Would not have a lot of cover from rain or snow.
We did the Escapely outdoor scavenger hunt in Adams Morgan about a year ago and absolutely loved it. Our group was five adults and two kids under 10, and it worked surprisingly well for everyone—the kids participated on and off but stayed engaged the whole time. It was such a fun way to explore Adams Morgan and discover cool spots and details we never would’ve noticed otherwise. We covered a lot of ground, and the neighborhood was perfect for it, with easy pit stops along the way for a drink or a bite to eat. The challenges were clever and thoughtfully designed, especially how they incorporated buildings, street art, and the surrounding environment. It struck a great balance between challenging and fun, and by the end we were already excited to try more Escapely games in other neighborhoods. Highly recommend for groups looking for a unique, interactive way to explore a city.
My husband and I had a blast doing the Adams Morgan escape game! I really liked how well planned out the route was - no real doubling back, things were on the way, the stops were at places where there was space to linger or even sit - no small feat when DC streets can get a little full of people at time! Also kudos for use of local landmarks, one of which was part of my favourite puzzle in the game :) Great recommendation of The Diner as a start point, and we ended up having a drink at the Roofers Union rooftop bar nearby while solving the endgame. While a little pricey, it's not more than we would've paid for an escape room or movie, so I thought it was fair. Cute little relaxed 3-4 hour date!
I highly recommend this as a family outing. There were 6 of us in our group -- in a wide age range; my husband and me (in our early 70s); our daughter and her husband (in their 40s) and our granddaughter and a friend (both 10). There were puzzles for everyone; it was a good assortment. The Hints were a big help in some of the more complicated puzzles; but we never had to go all the way to the Explanation, so the difficulty level was just right. I have lived in or near DC for most of my life, but the game showed me parts of Adams Morgan that I had never seen. It was great. If I had any suggestion, it would be that the game include a link to a walking map; we had a little trouble finding one of the locations but we ultimately did find it so no big concern. We plan to do the Escapely in Georgetown, too!
This is the 2nd Escapely game that we have done and our family loves them! We were given one for Boston, where our extended family lives, and we purchased the one for Adams Morgan for Fathers Day. We have 3 teenagers, and it is such a great way to explore new, and old, places. The clues are just challenging enough to really make us sit and think, but definitely not easy enough to run through it quickly.
We really enjoyed the challenge of the game and exploring a neighborhood we were unfamiliar with. The mystery story was well thought out and it was fun to discover the “real world clues” along the way. Based on the recommendation from the app, we had lunch at the starting point, The Diner, which was very good. I would definitely do this game again in other cities!
Super fun! Great for all ages. An awesome way to explore Adams Morgan and get to know the neighborhood. Bring walking shoes, a water bottle, and a backpack. Great way to spend an afternoon.
We happened to do this during a "Porch Party" weekend (essentially a block party for the entire neighborhood) and it was a ton of fun! We were able to piece together the real culprit and solve the mystery in time for dinner at one of the restaurants in the area. Our hardened team of escapers (20+ rooms) didn't have much trouble with the puzzles here, but it was fun exploring the town to find the real life clues! Definitely recommended as an intro to escape rooms or city escapes!
Was a really fun time. We thought the game was challenging enough to make us think a little and get around the neighborhood but easy enough as to not be frustrating. We stopped in the middle and at the end to treat ourselves at restaurants in the neighborhood, and we really enjoyed that aspect.
I did this in a group of 4 (including me) and we really enjoyed it! We have done escape rooms as a group in the past (all indoors) and opted for this experience because of the reasonable price and the ability to get some nice outside time. I found out about Escapely through my work as we did the Baltimore version as a team-building activity and I really enjoyed it, so I thought trying out the Adams Morgan one with my friends would be a blast and I was correct! :) I felt that the difficulty level was appropriate; some items stumped us, but we were always able to figure out the responses but occasionally needed a clue. My favorite part of the game was definitely using landmarks to figure out the puzzles, like walking up and down the street to find different murals to solve the code. Really hoping to see a new version of this in another area of DC to try!
We had a blast exploring Adams Morgan while trying to solve all of the clues! The hint feature was a big help. We really appreciated how the hints could be revealed in levels. Sometimes all you need is a slight nudge and not the entire answer, and Escapely let's you decide how much of the tip you want to see. We found the puzzles challenging, and well designed. You will need a fully charged cellphone, as QR codes reveal each clue and more. Highly recommend! A great way to get outside and explore the city!
A gift from my girlfriend that was fun for both of us! The game took us to a fun, fascinating, and colorful neighborhood of DC we probably never would have been to without this game box. The puzzles were engaging as it took us to different sites, and we took the time to stop at other interesting places we saw along the way. The game was also like a local tour guide! I definitely recommend for your next city daytrip.
This was a great experience; excellent puzzles and an wonderful way to explore a bit more of the city. We definitely saw (and paid more attention to) things that we otherwise probably never would have come across.
The outdoor escape room was fantastic! It was the perfect level of difficulty (we’ve done 35 traditional escape rooms) with puzzles for young and older members of our party to figure out! The real world aspect of this game was such a cool and new concept for us and really added to the excitement. The clues within the city were clear and easily accessible (we didn’t have to jump any fences and run from junkyard dogs thankfully, although that could be a fun addition to a sequel!). We had ages from 9 to 50 and everyone really had a great time. The app experience was truly seamless and really exceeded our expectations. We loved the humor and critical thinking required also. This is truly a fun and enjoyable afternoon out in the city that you really shouldn’t miss. It was 102 degrees in DC that day and we didn’t even care, because we were having so much fun. I would highly recommend the Adams Morgan version (we loved it so much we’ll be doing the Boston one next month) of this unique, fun, and creative idea!
The Escapely crate was great! We’ve done a ton of escape rooms and escape crates, and the hybridization of the Escapely crate with the local neighborhood environment was fantastic. Looking forward to trying out in other cities! (Going to try and plan some trips around these even…)
We had a blast with the Escapely adventure in Adams Morgan. I hadn't really explored the area before, so it was fun walking around and discovering new places and things. We started with a delicious lunch at The Diner, as suggested, and even decided to finish the box there with a boozy milkshake. It took us a few hours in total, and I'd absolutely recommend it!
We had a great time doing the DC Escapely outdoor escape room. It was very cleverly put together, just like the experience of doing an escape room with the different clues and puzzles, but outside and incorporating real world clues. Great for anyone who like to be outside, be active, explore a city, and solve puzzles! It was a decent amount of walking, so keep that in mind.
We had so much fun exploring around this awesome neighborhood in DC!! Took us about 3 hours to finish, and the difficulty was just right where it was challenging for us but mostly solvable (we used a few of the hints) I would add pictures but all the ones I took might spoil parts of the puzzle! The clues were super creatively integrated into the real world. For two of them when we finally figured it out it was a literally mind blowing “wow” I guess I didn’t read the review fully and thought it would be near the National mall, but it was honestly nice that it was in another neighborhood. Super vibrant area, we ended up eating at one of the restaurants that tied into one of the clues and it was just overall a super fun experience and a great way to explore a new part of DC.
