The guide was scattered and the tour felt hap hazard and disorganized. His original songs were awkward- I don't want to listen to a jingle about Epstein- and the jokes were meh. The real kicker was that at the WWII Memorial he was critical of the memorial, which we found disrespectful. We were hoping for an informative tour that was also funny. We got neither.

This tour was neither historical nor funny. Richard was a nice enough guy, but his jokes and songs were just cringy. His impressions of Regan, Carter, and Bernie Sanders weren’t bad. I would not recommend this tour.
I didn't know what to expect! My husband and I were the only ones on the comedy tour, which is sort of a moving comedy routine/history lesson featuring key landmarks in DC. Richard is definitely a performer, so I think this tour is better for a larger group, preferably with people who are old enough to remember the Nixon era. That said, I thought he was pretty funny and entertaining, and had a good 90 minutes.. Don't go on this tour if you're looking for serious history, are politically conservative, or don't care about politics generally.
We got Richard Siegel for our comedy tour! He was so kind, flexible with the weather, but most of all hilarious! He knew so many interesting facts about DC as we walked and presented it in a very funny and artsy way. We are so lucky and thankful for this experience!
I did the Comedy Walks DC tour with Richard and just never stopped laughing from From the beginning of the tour to the end. We started off singing this audience participation song, one of Richard’s originals, and then started the tour. We covered 9 or so exhibits and he did segways from facts to standup routines throughout. His impressions were spot on, and he even told some Abraham Lincoln jokes. Never realized this but Lincoln had a collection of humor he wrote or jokes about him. It was hilarious and quite informative. Would definitely recommend the tour
This was not at all what we expected. Definitely not worth the $50 we paid as a couple. Our guide said he was a singer and a stand up comic, but he can't sing, we didn't find his attempts at jokes funny, and we didn't get much history at the various stops along the way. Further, his jokes assumed that his audience shared his personal like or dislike for various political figures. Not a good idea with an audience from varied backgrounds and various parts if the country. Worse, head kept asking us whether we were having fun...not something we would share on the spot. Best part of the day was discovering an exhibit at The Renwick, which we enjoyed immensely after we left the "comedy" tour.
We did the Comedy Walks DC tour last month with a few friends and had an absolute blast! Our guide, Richard Siegel, kicked things off by singing to us right on the sidewalk--which set the perfect tone for a fun, hilarious, and totally unique experience. As we walked through the city, he shared great stories about both famous and lesser-known landmarks, all while cracking jokes and doing spot-on impressions. We were laughing the entire time. Highly recommend for anyone visiting DC who wants a tour with a twist!
I hate to be negative but the tour was disappointing. Richard's impersonations were good, but his jokes, song parodies and comments were not historical or funny. They had more to do with his own experiences than with the monuments and buildings. For ex, at the WWII Memorial, he compared his past marriage to WWII. I would have asked for our money back, but I felt too bad for him to do so. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this .
Wow - What a unique & great tour.. I've been to DC many times, seen all the monuments - but Richard put a whole new spin on the experience. He was fun & engaging & really funny. Ask him to do his Bernie Sanders impression. In fact all his impressions were spot on. If you want to learn something, laugh and enjoy yourself with a real professional - this is the tour for you!!!
I wasn't sure what to expect, but Richard quickly set the pace for a fun afternoon walk. I was expecting jokes, and there were several. What I didn't expect was impressions. Richard did impressions of Nixon, Carter, and Reagan at suitable stops on the route. He also added in a couple of parody songs. All in all It was an enjoyable walk which passed quickly due to Richard’s quirky but engaging humor.
Highlight of my trip to DC! Richard was our guide and did a great job of combining historical sights and making us laugh. As we toured the monuments he was very funny in his comments. I highly recommend the Comedy Walks DC with Richard!
Total waste of money and time! He (Richard) had no clue what he was talking about and basically used the tour to play and promote songs he wrote. It was SO bad we dropped off the tour after 45 minutes (a refund would be appropriate)!
Horrid and awkward... My teens would say 'cringe'... There were only the two of us for the 'tour' (I had assumed it would be cancelled if enough didn't sign-up), so awkward anyway. Our guide/comic more closely resembled a hobo than anyone to trust in. The walk (which we good-naturedly attempted to continue with) was full of terrible moments of awkwardness, singing of songs that were so tasteless that passerby were looking at us strangely, and no actual laughs or guidance were had.
The most entertaining way to see the sights in our nation’s capitol. This was the first time I had seen the sculpture of Albert Einstein and it is a very unique piece of art. You have to speak to it and it will “speak” to you. No audio recording.
Definitely worth the money! Learned many new juicy tidbits about the DC Area from a very talented young man, Tim. Walked and saw very cool buildings in this beautiful city. Take the Tour!!
I enjoyed how our guide interleaved humor with facts while keeping it clear which is which! good comedy, good walk, good tour!
The guide we had shared some histo about the events that occurred on the walking route, but the comedy was not very funny to us.
Tim was friendly and energetic. However, he was also a quite raunchy and used a lot of foul language. He was occasionally funny. A large part of the problem is Trip Advisor should be more specific In describing this tour. My impression was that it was going to be historically based but funny! Also, it was not a tour that many older people would be comfortable with.
Terrific tour. Jake was well informed on buildings and history and seamlessly went back and forth between comedy bits and historical information.
Jake Woe was our comedy tour guide and it was a great experience. It was different then anything we had experienced before. I highly recommend it for something fun to do. It was informative as well. Jake was very funny.
Jake catered his jokes to our tastes and kept us entertained. He had interesting facts about the city. We enjoyed it. This tour was different from the usual historical tour.
Guide was candid about his mixed race heritage up front. We as a family of caucasians initially appreciated the opportunity to perhaps gain knowledge and understanding of the very important “Black Lives Matter” issues. But the guide concentrated almost solely on Washington DC sites that had celebrated or scorned, or mourned African Americans. He had no real grasp of Washington DC’s overall history, and very little knowledge of landmarks that were literally along our walk, let alone the city as a whole. Couldn’t tell us the name/ purpose of buildings or the park that stretched a block along our route. When we asked about a large statue, he said, “I have no idea. I don’t want to talk about dead white guys.” He seemed more angry than funny. Some of his jokes were ok but often they were crass and made us feel uncomfortable. We have a young teenager. Our discomfort w/ our experience and situation only grew. We were relieved to part ways. Very disappointed.
Had such a great time with Jake ! Not only was he knowledgeable he was actually super funny & had us laughing the whole tour ! He was filled with interesting, fun stories about DC ! He was extremely personable, positive, & amusing ! Gave us fantastic recommendations for the rest of our trip ! BOOK YOUR TOUR WITH JAKE LIKE NOW ! You won’t regret it !!! Even though it was raining most of the tour Jake made it so enjoyable we didn’t even noticed! 100% worth it !
My daughter signed us up for a comedy walking tour of Washington, DC, and I said yes but did not know what to expect. Spending 90 minutes with an unfunny comedian would have been a nightmare for me. But my worries were unnecessary. Jake Woe was our comedian / leader, and he had me laughing the entire time, a couple of times to the point of tears. I felt comfortable right from the beginning as Jake was easy to talk with, and his clever and intelligent and often self-deprecating humor had me going right from the start. I would absolutely go on another walk with Jake, or go to see him perform at a club, and I highly recommend taking a Comedy Walk!
Thank you for a lovely afternoon, Mark! It was a great pleasure to learn about DC's history and landmarks -- and laugh throughout our time together. We were looking forward to it and the walk did not disappoint. Thank you for sharing your experiences, fun facts, humor and love of DC with us. Will be a highlight and great memory of our first time here. Really appreciated all of your recommendations and insights, as well!
Mark was a great guide and was gracious to let us linger in a few places to take lots of pictures. We enjoyed getting to know Mark and learning more about DC!
Most enjoyable. Mark Palchick was charming and knowledgeable. Fun time and I heard many interesting stories.
My husband and I joined Mark on a very warm Saturday in August. Mark was prompt, knowledgeable and a lot of fun. He was more than generous with his time and personable as well. I would highly recommend and would take him again for another walk when I come back to DC.
We were promised 70% comedy 30% facts....but I’d be hard pressed to say there was 7% comedy. Some of the facts were interesting, there were some tired puns, a few completely irrelevant long drawn out stories about his mother and his seat mate Alice in a recent plane flight to Texas...it was not funny, not fun ...spend your money on something else
Mark (who does the afternoon tour) was great. He knows the area and was able to provide lots of interest facts. In addition he was very considerate (he provided bottled water for us at the start of the tour and showed us where to refill it) and was happy to engage in intellectual conversations related to the sights we were seeing.
If you are looking for a different way to see DC, try “Comedy Walks”. We had a wonderful time with this small group. Our guide, Mark, mixed in some facts with some fun, and we got “fun facts” instead of alternative facts. The tour included “walk-by”s of some of the famous monuments ( White House, Lincoln and Washington Monuments) as well as a few surprises. Highly recommended.
Thanks so much to ComedyWalksDC for an awesome and unique look at the city! I took my students on a field trip there and it was such a great way for them to see different parts of DC. Mark was extremely funny and spent so much time with our group, allowing us to take pictures and sit along the way. I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a fun field trip in DC!
Wear your comfortable walking shoes for a circuit around parts of the Washington DC Mall that will put you far ahead of what most DC tourists (and even natives!) see of fascinating monuments and statues, and lovely gardens. Mark's combination of comedic interludes and historic knowledge make the tour unique!
I strongly recommend taking a Comedy Walk. Mark, our comedian tour leader, was funny, very personable, and very knowledgeable of the key historical areas , monuments and places of Washington DC. I know Washington pretty well, but today I learned about several new places I’ve never seen before, thanks to this tour. It’s also a good workout, over 2 miles walked in two hours, covering lots of interesting territory. You’ll enjoy this very private, special walking tour.
I am a Washingtonian so I was curious to go on a comedy tour in my hometown. I am glad I took the tour. The comedian was funny and knowledgeable about US history. This would be a great alternative for those who want something different from the standard double decker bus/headphone experience. It is great for singles, couples, families or groups.
