This is an incredible trip (long ride in the car - 4 hours from Warsaw one way) and I highly recommend it. HOWEVER, way overpriced. We paid Viator $736 for this trip for my wife and I. Viator subcontracts ALL their trips through a company called, AB Poland Travel”. This same trip through them direct was only $150 for two people. Do yourself a huge favor and go direct to AB Poland Travel on their website and save yourself a lot of money.

Jack was great! He took the time to find out what I already knew & added.to this, rather than just rattling off a script. Had some great conversations on Polish history outside of the subject matter & was flexible to customize tour to my liking. Would definitely recommend!
Amazing, Wiktor is the best guide, I will be back. The distance is very far but the villages are very nice
Don’t be afraid to go in the late afternoon. We drove 5 hours across Poland in the early hours to make a day of it. Arrived about 10am and took almost an hour to find parking as the cars were backed up for miles leading up to the main gate. Great visit the place is very interesting and there’s a restaurant just inside the gates. As the place was so busy it was hard to get a picture that didn’t have dozens of tourists in them. When we were leaving around 5pm there were a few people starting their tour. I realised we missed a trick. They had the place to themselves, could take their time, wouldn’t have to fight crowds to get a picture and have their pick of tour guides. Don’t be afraid to go later in day. Getting there early isn’t a must.
Great small group tour. Friendly driver, good companions on the journey. Swieta Lipka was closed so the driver took us to a nearby medieval castle, which also was amazing. Lunch was included with the tour and the restaurant of choice was a nice family run place with traditional Polish food. My vegetarian preferences were honored. All in all, a day well spent. The tour was in March 2019, sorry I'm a little late writing this review.
Guide is very friendly, approachable and well-informed. I learnt alot during the trip and the little bits of footnotes were interesting.
This destroyed headquarters of WW2 Germany is a sad reminder of some German officers attempt to end the war. A long days travel from Warsaw, (4hrs each way) but worth it for anyone interested in military history & one mans courage to try & save his country. Our guide was great & spoke excellent English it’s just a very long day touring to see it.
AB Poland has provided us with a good journey. We have a great guide Piotr and a driver who drives safely. The service throughout the journey is good. We had delicious dumplings in a very cosy restaurant for lunch. Very happy day! But very tired on the road!
Whilst the bunker complex was interesting, spending 11 hours on a round trip from Warsaw for 1 hour at the site was poor value for money given the cost being 3x the headline rate and lunch comprising of 1/2 dozen tasteless Russian Dumplings & a glass of water with no choice of anything else in a Restaurant smelling of sewage & awaiting a funeral party!
Przemyslaw was an entertaining guide, we had fun exploring the bunkers and stopping at a local village for lunch.
This is a long but rewarding excursion from Warsaw. The Wolfs lair was a huge complex of bunkers in the deep forests of east Prussia, used by Hitler and the German high command as head quarters almost throughout the second world war. Many ominous decisions were made here, like the decision to completely destroy Warsaw as a revenge for the 1944 uprising. This was also of course the place for the attempted assassination of Hitler in the summer of 1944. The fantastic tour guide Piotr made history come alive with his extensive knowledge of the place and of Polish history. He was receptive and willing to discuss also controversial and disputed topics. Included in the trip was also a lunch at nice restaurant serving traditional Polish food, that really tasted delicious. To top off the trip there was a visit to a beautiful baroque church with a fairy-tale like history. It was also planned by Piotr so that we had an opportunity to listen to a short organ concerto, played on the spectacular organ of the church. This trip is highly recommended.
I just returned from a full day trip to Wolfs Lair. Highly recommended! Although a long drive from Warsaw the guide,Piotr, made it seem short. He is very experienced and knowledgeable who can discuss any topic which is brought up. The headquarter complex is much larger than I expected. Also the size of the structures surprised me. Well worth the drive if you are interested in WW2 history. The stop at the church on the way back is a real bonus. The day tour exceeded my expectations! Thank-you Piotr!!
Robert was the tour driver and the drive from Warsaw to the first stop (Wolf's Lair) was a four hour drive. One pit stop at a local gas station where Robert treated me to a local Polish sweet delicacy. We had started out at 8am and finally reached the Wolf's Lair at noon. A nice lady tour guide took over and walked me over the key installations at the site. Thereafter, I was led to other bunker installations at the Mamerki (one of which was designed by Adolf Hitler himself!). We turned back for Warsaw at 3.30pm; reaching at 7pm. Robert was very good company and we had very good discussions about Polish history. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone interested in WW2 history and Polish history in general. I look forward to going on another trip with this tour company.
Our really helpful guide picked us up on time from the hotel and drove us safely all day. The other guide at the Wolf's Lair was really informative and helpful. She was so good that the 90 minutes there just flew past! hard to take in the fact that you are walking in the footsteps of some of history's most infamous people! We also visited the bunkers at Mamerki when our driver acted as the guide and also took us to the museum (our visit was out of season so the main section here was not open). The restaurant included was also really good, with fine food at very reasonable prices, so easy to stay within the limits of the re-paid meal included in the trip and yet still have a filling lunch. Journey was good, with the driver always ready to stop if we needed a break. Highly recommended all round
My family and I really enjoyed our trip. Our driver was great - very prompt and friendly. Our guide at the lair was very funny and enthusiastic. It was quite a long day, but that was to be expected. Driver was happy for us to sleep in the car on the way back and would happily stop for breaks upon request. The extra extension to Mamerki was interesting however we ran out of time to really have a proper look around - although to be honest we were quite exhausted by that point! All round it was a great day and we were very satisfied!
We had a brilliant day at the Wolf’s Lair and Mamerki, with Piotr as our guide. He was very nice and accommodating, and also fairly knowledgeable. As I have very specific dietary requirements, he ensured I got a meal that suited my needs at lunchtime. He had the added challenge of the bunkers at Mamerki being closed, so was left to bring us around the smaller bunkers, while explaining how the larger bunkers were laid out. He was very knowledgeable of the history of the Wolf’s Lair, and the particulars of the place in terms of measures taken to conceal the area from the air, it was really very interesting. Our trip did not include Swieta Lipka.
I did this tour with 5 others and in the same day, we visited Mamerki (Wehrmacht HQ), Wolf's Lair (Hitler HQ), and Swieta Lipka (an Old Church town) - a very long day tour from 8 AM to 10 PM. Maciej of AB Travel was instrumental in coordinating the tour and providing info and she did this very efficiently and quickly. Our guide-cum-driver Jacek was helpful, courteous, and knowledgeable and answered all our questions. All of us felt that this was a very informative, interesting and worthwhile visit. The late lunch/early dinner took place around 5 PM (!) - keeping that in mind, do bring your own food and snacks with you. One thing that can be improved is to add Vegan option at the lunch. Other than this - a perfect tour!
The whole activity makes people feel welcome, first the guide of the wolf hole will explain to us in detail, and then the driver is also friendly to take care of the full range.
Right on time at 8.20am we were picked up at our hotel felix by jacek for a day trip to wolf's lair. In the beginning it seemed to be a monotonous day because the stopover came only 2 hours later and we were in for another 2 hour continuation. You really don't know where you're going as everything is in the middle of nowhere. Fortunately, jacek talked incessantly and the nature we crossed was beautiful. After almost 4.5 hours we arrived in mamerki . Bunkers that were used in World War II. All are still intact. There is an interesting museum and a replica of a submarine that you can visit. There is also a watchtower that you can climb. Something like a 9 meter high. A little further is Wolf's Lair where Hitler stayed for a total of 800 days and where he survived an assassination attempt committed by Von Stauffenberg (filmed as Valkyrie with Tom Cruise ) . Here the bunkers have been bombed out but clear pictures give you a good impression of the former top secret Bunker town. The size must have been immense. After lunch ( around 6 pm ) at Zajazd pod Zamkiem ( the sexy kitchen ) another extreme - portions large and very tasty and dirt cheap - we finally drove to the shrine święta lipka . An important place of pilgrimage and known for the sacred lime tree. There is a whole legend attached to it but well explained by Jacek beforehand. He has been a driver and guide all day and has done more than excellently. There was nothing too much for him. Around 11 pm he dropped us off at the hotel again. A long day but really worth it. Normally as a tourist you only see this once in a lifetime. We highly recommend it if you are naturally interested. Thanks again to the jacek he was formidable.
