The Palace of Culture and Science, often referred to locally as “Stalin's Gift,” is a landmark that evokes mixed feelings. Presented to Warsaw by Joseph Stalin, this Art Deco-inspired skyscraper is a reminder of both post-war reconstruction and the era of Soviet dominance. Whether it was truly a gift is still open to debate. Built in the 1950s, the palace bears a striking resemblance to Moscow's famous Seven Sisters, Stalin's monumental skyscrapers. At 237 metres tall, it remains Poland's second-highest building and has become one of Warsaw's most recognizable landmarks. When it was completed, it was the eighth tallest building in the world. Those days are long gone, of course, but the building remains an impressive monument to a bygone era. Visiting the palace is like stepping 70 years back in time. The architecture, interiors, and atmosphere all reflect a different chapter of European history. Whatever your view of its origins, there is no denying its architectural grandeur. The observation terrace at the top offers phenomenal views across Warsaw and is reason enough to visit on its own. A practical tip: buy your tickets online in advance to avoid unnecessary waiting. For history enthusiasts, architecture lovers, and anyone interested in understanding Warsaw's complex past, the Palace of Culture and Science is well worth a visit. It stands as both a symbol of a difficult period in Polish history and one of the city's most remarkable architectural experiences.

The guide was so nice and the place is good with lovely views from the top, he gave great information about the building and the empty rooms we were shown into. Would I say it was worth the money and do it again. I am afraid not, I would just pay to visit the top.
Disappointing Experience: Rude Staff Ruins Historic Venue 1/5 ⭐ We were intrigued by this historic building and decided to visit during our 3-day stay in Warsaw. Unfortunately, what should have been a cultural highlight turned into an embarrassing and frustrating experience. The Issues: First, there’s no proper welcome or guidance at the entrance. We paid €8 per person, only to discover the ticket grants access exclusively to the 30th floor observation deck – which, frankly, offers a less impressive view than the Varso Tower. But here’s where things got truly unacceptable: assuming we could explore other floors (as nothing was clearly explained), we descended from the 30th floor back to the reception area. When we tried to re-enter through the turnstiles, they blocked us completely. The system wouldn’t let us back in. The worst part? A blonde woman at the entrance kept condescendingly repeating “scan, scan” as if we were idiots who didn’t understand how turnstiles work. Despite the obvious technical issue, she refused to acknowledge the problem and persisted with her patronizing attitude. She made no effort to help, wouldn’t open the turnstiles manually, and ultimately we had to leave. This woman was unpleasant, rude, and completely unsuitable for a customer-facing role in a public tourist attraction. It was humiliating to be treated this way as tourists who had paid good money to visit – money that, ironically, helps pay her salary. Management should take action immediately. Staff like this damage the reputation of what could be a wonderful landmark. Such a shame, especially considering all the other amazing experiences we’ve had in this beautiful city. Avoid this place – your time and money are better spent elsewhere in Warsaw.
An interesting and informative overview of both the Palace of Culture and Science and Warsaw. Fun and insightful, the personal touch of a guide was well worth it.
Really great tour. Must see while in Warsaw! Would 100% recommend. The guide was amazing and knew a lot about the building, and the view from the viewing dock was breathtaking.
Amazing experience! The guide was very nice and told a lot of interesting stories about the building. The viewing dock was breathtaking; Warsaw looked beautiful from there. 100% recommend!! Must see while in Warsaw.
Great tour with amazing views from the top. The guide was very knowledgeable and shared interesting facts. Well-paced and definitely worth it!
Bardzo ciekawa wycieczka. Przewodnik z dużą wiedzą! Polecam każdemu, na prawdę warto!
The only reason we took the tour was because there was no other way to see the inside of the Tower. We saw two floors, marble halls and a meeting room, all of which were of Soviet aesthetics. The driver gave us enough information about the construction of the tower, such as that the Soviets did not let them make it higher so as not to get over the height of the 7 sisters in Moscow. 4,000 Soviet workers and 4,000 Polish craftsmen worked for the finish. The truth is that the tour took about 50 minutes but could be done in 30 minutes. At the end we ended up at the observatory that overlooks the city, a stove and a gift shop. To be honest you can see the photos and do not need to make the visit, you will not understand anything more.
The Palace of Culture and Science is a must-see in Warsaw. Majestic and charming, it dominates the city with its grandeur. From the 30th floor you can enjoy an extraordinary panoramic view: the modern skyline contrasts with the historic soul of the capital. Inside museums, theaters and cinemas make the experience complete. A symbolic and vital place, absolutely worth visiting.
It's the symbol of Warsaw. It is located in the city centre and can be reached from the train station or metro. Built in Brutalist style. It was a gift from Stalin. Inside there is a cinema, a theater and you can climb to the top thanks to a lift on the 30th floor from which you can enjoy the view. It is also recommended to stop by in the evening to see it illuminated. It's the symbol of Warsaw. It's located in the city center and can be reached from the train station or the metro. We stayed two days ago despite the 0° is absolutely worth visiting especially to go up to the 30th floor to enjoy the spectacular view of the city of Warsaw despite the cold is absolutely worth the price of the ticket
You learn a lot about the site, the guide has been very friendly and is attentive to all who attend the tour.
We bought the tickets on one of the machines in the hall and went up to the 30th floor. There are spectacular 360 views across the city. This activity is worth carrying out
We bought tickets in the ticket box. There was not much queue there, but a little queue to get up in the elevator to 30.etg. Great view of Warsaw from the terrace, in all directions. Impressive building. Could have been a little better organizing the elevators up and down.
Sehr interessante Führung mit einem tollen Guide! Kein Anstellen in der Warteschlange und bestes Service!
