I've had excellent experience hiring guides through Trip Advisor and getting connected with Marcin in Warsaw was equally good. He was reliable, knowledgeable, and thoughtful and took his time to answer my questions and offer detailed insights about the sites we visited. As a professional photographer, I wanted to capture these sites and people we encountered and Marcin allowed me the time and space to do so. I highly recommend this private tour and Marcin, in particular, as the tour guide.

Soft-spoken Marcin (our guide) was a hidden gem himself during our tour of Warsaw. Blessed with a vast knowledge of past Polish history, he was able to convey the many conflicting bits and pieces that make up this region's past. We roamed far and wide in areas of Warsaw that, on our own, we would have never found. We truly made a new friend and came away in awe of this area. This private tour was one of our best.
It was a lot of talking but we didn’t get to the old town at all. I would suggest that should be included. The break at chocolate shop was nice the the guide spoke a lot and we were ready to leave 20 minutes before him.
Our guide Marcin was very knowledgeable about the city and history of Warsaw. He was on time and knew many of the beautiful sights in the city. He walked at a pace that was comfortable for us. He was courteous and answered our questions. He seamlessly integrated walking with busses and trams to get us around the city in an orderly and efficient manner.
A great WALKING tour full of great sights and history. We are so glad this is the tour we picked. Highly recommend this tour.
We booked this tour based on the very positive reviews of others on Viator. We were very disappointed. First off, the guide was 30 minutes late, so we were standing at the meeting point for awhile. Not the biggest deal. The guide walked with us into a park, where she showed us a statue of Chopin (OK, but not really a hidden gem). We then walked into the park further where she showed us a statue that she had a personal investment with; said her grandmother sculpted it. At this point it started raining heavily - not her problem, but we could not continue; we were thoroughly soaked. We took a bus back to our downtown hotel and dried out. She offered to continue the next day which we had already booked something. We agreed to meet 2 days later to continue. She was late again, and took us to the Warsaw Cytadella, which I would not say is a hidden gem at all. We walked through the museum with almost nothing explained to us about what this actually was. We left after that, and it took 3 Ubers to find us to pick us up. Our guide didn't even stay with us to make sure we were getting back to downtown Warsaw. It was, to say the least, not exactly the most positive experience we had in Poland. And for the money paid, it was most certainly not worth it.
The trip was great , weather was tough though as started raining. But Our guide Marcin was very warm and friendly ! There were some areas we didn’t cover as per itinerary but Marcin surely showed us some hidden gems! Thank you !
Sebastian has strong knowledge of the impact from WWII and socialism on today’s Warsaw as well as arts and architecture. Fun facts and details were a plus during the walk. Highly recommend Sebastian
It was amazing! Marcin was a spectacular guide and knew so much about the city and its history. It was a very relaxing way to spend learning about Warsaw
I heard about With Locals on the Internet. I reached out to Mona and it was one of the best things we could have done. Mona customized a day tour of Warsaw based on what we asked. We had the best time with Mona. Not only is she very knowledgeable about Warsaw you can tell she loves what she does. I would highly recommend Mona for any of your tour needs. When I come back I certainly will contact her again. Celia & Vicki
Marcin was very kind, genuine and created an unforgettable experience of Warsaw for us. We are very thankful for his combination of facts and his own personal stories about the past and present.
Very nice overview of Warsaw and appreciated the little extras. It's mostly flat but there was one set of stairs to be aware of
This tour really showed us the rich history and modern beauty of Warsaw. Our guide truly shared with us hidden gems such as the Belvedere garden, Scandinavian wooden houses, Jewish Ghetto memorials and armistice memorial. These type of tours help one to see the real city and not just places that are tourist favourites. Lots of walking but we saw so much and now really appreciate how wonderful Warsaw is.
Marcin Withlocals was a great guide and showed us the hidden gems of busy Warsaw. Every street & building had a story & he narrated it so well. Thank you for the perfect blend of culture, history, and fun on the city tour. It was an enlightening and enjoyable experience.
We really enjoyed our tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. We loved the variety of what we saw and learned.
We were a tour group of eight people from Berlin and Marcin guided us through Warsaw for three exciting hours. As he described in his portrait, he really showed us the gems of sights that are a little off the beaten track. Places that we would certainly not have visited ourselves. The tour of the former Warsaw ghetto was also very impressive. All in all, the tour with Marcin is highly recommended! And: we all became Warsaw fans, a great city. Thank you Marcin and all the best!
Four of us had a wonderful tour of Warsaw yesterday with Whit as our local guide. Whit was an excellent guide with great knowledge of Warsaw but also European history, wars etc and how these affected Poland and Warsaw in particular. Whit has an easy relaxed style and tailored everything, pace and information, to suit us. I would highly recommend Whit as a Warsaw guide.
Marcin makes learning the I love tours that educate me about the history of a city but also gives me an understanding of the current situation. Marcin is an excellent guide and left me with his love of his city and country. This was my second tour with Marcin and he is great about communicating before tour too
Marcin was really knowledgeable about Warsaw and I appreciated him walking me through the city to appreciate its diverse history.
The wonderful guide was right on time and we began the long walking tour. This was a personalized tour and we ended up seeing many unique spots that are NOT in any guide book. He answered all my questions and pointed out many interesting things about architecture and talked about Soviet times and influences on the city, the war and reconstruction. We stopped for warm cup of coffee and a break along the way. The tour ended near the Castle and entrance to Old Town and after walking over 10 km I chose not to climb up the steps to the viewing platform, plus it was snowing at the time. Very enjoyable day with great guide.
When our bus tour got canceled 30 minutes before our pickup ( yes warsaw city tours, that’s me throwing shade) we didn’t know what to do. With only about 2 hours notice I booked a tour with Whit and he totally saved the day. My daughter and I had so much fun with Whit. He’s an excellent guide who is very entertaining and all around fabulous. We got an excellent tour of the city and great tips for local shopping and travel.
Had a great time with the city tour, via the Soviet Era van! Tour guide was very knowledgeable and made the trip fun, despite some rain along the way!
We had a fantastic trip with Mona as our tour guide! She adjusted the tour to our needs (with two kids 9yrs old and 4yrs old). She was very prepared, extremely knowledgeable and very engaging! I was worried about taking this tour with kids, but it turned out to be the best experience we had during our visit! Strongly recommend!!!
Our tour guy, Wit, was friendly and accommodating, and pleasant to spend the morning with. He texted from the meeting point to ensure we would find him. We mostly walked around the main points of interest around Warsaw. He provided lots of interesting information about the architecture, their time periods, the building and rebuilding of Warsaw after the uprisings/war; he explained for the different time periods, the architectural styles and impacts on Warsaw’s look and, implicitly, modern life of the city. He provided useful information about dining areas, restaurants and other things to do around Warsaw. Our disappointment was the lack of depth of historical information he provided at the various sites we visited. For the cost of a private tour, and compared to those in other cities, this tour provided considerably less in that regard.
Mona was an amazing guide. She was extremely knowledgeable and amiable. Mona gave great insight into the past and present information about key sites and life in Warsaw. The Cherry liquor isn’t something I’d have at home but it was really delicious. An extremely pleasant experience and introduction to Warsaw. Highly recommend.
In 2 hours time you see more and hear more from 300 years of history of Berlin. Unbelievable the knowledge of this man about the city and its history. We had a wonderful time listening to the stories and explanations of the different building styles and restaurations. You have to drive with him. Especially if you want to see a little more than the Reichstag, Brandenburger Tor and checkpoint Charlie.
A friendly, informative and in-depth view of the history of Warsaw, taking in the the very modern and the not so modern at street level. The kind of tours I prefer, walking around from street to street reeling in the local history, all the nooks and crannies, the side streets and the hidden but important stories that one not might get otherwise. Noticing how Warsaw is a city where the very modern (high rise skyscrapers) lie side by side the very old (old apartment blocks of the 60s and 70s) and the even older (remnants of buildings from the war period) Marcin's tour was relaxed, with lots of good information and facts about sites and areas of historical significance...... from the the time the Rolling Stones played in Soviet Warsaw, the street history of the Warsaw uprising, and a look at the some of the remains of the Warsaw Ghetto, amongst a raft of things to see and experience. Afterwards, we had some local dishes, where we sampled the best of Polish cuisine - yes, and that includes pirogi! ha Recommended if one wants a more personal and grounded view of the real history of the magnificent city of Warsaw.
Our guide was wonderfully nice but we got just a 3 hour walk around town. I didn’t leave with any hidden gem information, stories, or really an added appreciation for Warsaw. Maybe it was a translation issue but the “walk” seemed unprepared and I left feeling underwhelmed. We tried to dig into more stories but our questions were mostly answered with, “I’m not sure.” Great walk but I would have learned more paying for data and using wiki. We also didn’t receive our local treat/food item per the ad. Again, as I’ve found with all locals, wonderful people, but for $50ish/person just walk around with access to google and go at your own pace.
My tour guide was superb!! As we walked through Warsaw, he filled me in on the history of the city from the first king, WW II, the Soviet occupation of Poland, to contemporary times. We finished yhe tour with a great cup of coffee and a visit to a busy indoor food market. We walked all over the city!! I learned so much about Warsaw and its history- I highly recommend this tour to anyone who loves to learn and experience new things!
Mona was our local guide. She was extremely informative on Polish history and the city of Warsaw’s architecture. My wife and I enjoyed a through walking tour in a lovely snowy afternoon. Mona treated us to wonderful chocolates and coffee at a cozy cafe. We highly recommend this tour for all. At the end of the tour she assisted us in getting a cab from old town back to our hotel. Thank you Mona. Cheers, Mark & Sheri.
Martin was a fantastic guide, very personable and knowledgeable. He showed us places in Warsaw that we would not have seen on our own. Only the 2 of us were on the tour which made it even better. Highly recommend this experience!
Our walking tour was a lot of fun and Ewa answered all of our questions. She showed us a park we would not otherwise have seen and showed us a great view of old town. It is a lot of walking, but you get to see some unusual sites. We did stop for a coffee break, which was at a cute little cafe. We learned a lot of history about Poland as well. Great tour - would recommend!
We had a 3 hours walk with Mona through Warschau. Very interesting! It's perfect to start your trip with this walk. Mona gives a lot of information : where to go? what to visit? where to eat? what to drink?...so you can plan the rest of your trip.
Met Marcin yesterday for a tour of Warsaw with an emphasis on Jewish history. He was great, knowledgeable, we walked around the city for 3 hrs and 20 minutes. He knew a lot of interesting details about the history of Warsaw in relation to WWII and especially in the period after, during Soviet times. Highly recommended. Thanks Marcin.
aleksandra brought alive to our small group what is arguably one of central europe's most multi-faceted, dynamic and contradiction-laden capitals - with erudition and graceful elegance. having assessed our interests and group dynamics, aleksandra constructed a balanced and comprehensive winter afternoon walking tour, whilst all the while allowing for flexibility and even a measure of spontaneity. she included something for all of us! thanks to aleksandra for a memorable experience. the four of us highly recommend her to visitors to warsaw for her depth of knowledge and critical as well as balanced impressions.
Marcin is a musician and a passionate historian. He customized our tour after learning we are runners, and showed us some very interesting historical locations that might require a little more walking, and we enjoyed it. He is extremely knowledgeable of Warsaw's history, including the Jewish Uprising and the Warsaw Uprising. Also please don't be shy to ask him about local life and he will share it with you. This was the best 3 hours we spent in Warsaw.
All good. Tunia was a great guide and we really enjoyed our tour around Warsaw. Highly recommended. Wear some good walking shoes,
We booked a tour with Withlocals, Highlights & hidden gems of Warsaw and we loved it. We chose Tunia as our guide and she was superb. It is always nice to walk around when you are visiting a new city but having a local guide turns the visit from good to great.Walking with Tunia and listening to her talk about the history of Warsaw and daily live was one of the highlights of our long weekend in this nice city. Tunia is easy going and telling stories comes natural to her - all our best recommendation :-)
Ewa was wonderful as a guide. The whole time she kept it relaxed and informal so that we could ask her about any topic. Ewa was knowledgeable and had many stories about Warsaw and its peoples history. It was also interesting to hear about how she grew up like others of her generation just as communism finished in Poland. Would highly recommend this tour to others. A big thank you to Ewa for making our day so very enjoyable.
Stephane was a great guide to this beautiful city. He was very knowledgable about Warsaw's history, taking us to parts of the city that are off the beaten track. He also taught us about Polish culture and how it has shaped the city today, in a thought-provoking way that challenged our perceptions.
We booked two tours with Marcin in Warsaw - Best of Warsaw Tour: Highlights & Hidden Gems and the Praga area tour. We highly recommend both with Marcin - he has a relaxed style but is very capable, confident, and knowledgeable about the city. Seeing Warsaw for the first time is much better and easier with a guide, and Marcin broughtto life famous sites such as President's Residence and Old Town. Although it is important to see the famous sites, we really enjoyed the obscure 'hidden' sites of old Warsaw in the Praga section, for example pre WWII buildings with interesting back alleys. As an ammeter photographer, I enjoyed many unique photo opportunities of the old architecture. We were lucky too - we were invited into a small shop in a building's basement soon to be renovated. It was like stepping back 75 years. Marcin knows his history and is proud to share it with you! If you visit Warsaw, book these tours for both fun and education.
We loved our tour with the humble and polite pianist Marcin. You would do well to have him take you on a chill and informative tour around Warsaw.
Mona stepped off her bus and gave us a beautiful wave to welcome us to Warsaw. It's our first time in this beautiful city Mona walked us perfectly for the 3 hours with a welcome break in the middle where she took us to a wonderfulcoffee shop and treated us to chocolates and refreshments. We had lots of questions about the city and it's history. Mona was very happy and very informative of her answers. She surly has the knowledge required to be the perfect guide. We cannot thank her enough and would recommend her to everyone. Thanks once again. Steve and Karen from Portsmouth U.K. x
I liked the tour a lot, because Warsaw i full of great hidden places which have to be discovered. This is why you need a local to show you around. The guide was super friendly and knew all the background. We had great conversations during the walk. Thank you!
Mona is knowledgeable and very pleasant.Mona shared a lot of information and we had non-stop discussions about the sights, sites and current life in Warsaw. We got a comprehensive 'feel' of the city while strolling peacefully through gardens and point of interest. Highly recommended.
I really recommend visiting city with locals! It was a great way to see hidden spots of Warsaw. I was visiting city with Alexandra who had a lot of curiosities about many places! I loved that way of sightseeing and would definitely recommend this to anyone!
I absolutely recommend Mona. She is a very cheerful and warm person. She is punctual and factual. Mona can perfectly adapt the tour to your group. She treated us like a best friends. It was a wonderful walk :-)
A good way to start to discover Warsaw from the inside, the guide was very pleasant and interesting, it felt like a friendly walk in the city.
The tour is a great opportunity to see Warsaw off the beaten path. We were amazed how green and diverse the city is. Our local guide took us also to a charming, old fashioned cafe with delicious pralines and chocolate, which we really enjoyed. The three hours walk was a perfect time to get a glimps of the capital of Poland and to talk and laugh a lot. Highly recommended!
It was a great city tour, with a lot of information and Impress. We had a lot of fun and would Tunia any time Book again!
