Reviews
The guide was fantastic and knowledgeable. He was genuine interested in Polish food, traditions, culture and society. We also had many interesting conversations about everything, world and politics.
My partner and I were really disappointed with this tour. It was nothing like advertised at all. We were expecting to come away from this tour with having experienced many Polish dishes. (More than 10 is what is advertised) 3 is what we had. One of them was a doughnut. From the pictures we were looking forward to a variety of foods. Our tour didn't even include Pierogi? (again advertised) The tour itinerary suggested we would start and finish in the same spot, though we were left way out the way of the meeting point, which was inconvenient. This tour was promised to be between 3-4 hours. We were abandoned a 2.5 hours in. The tour guide was nice enough, though the experience had left us feeling disappointed, short changed and scammed. I want my money back.
Food is everyday local food. Nothing especially spectacular about the cuisine. More about the stories behind everyday staples
Friendly and knowledgeable guide. Great afternoon and evening where we learned much about Polish cuisine and Warsaw history.
As a female solo traveling this was a great experience! I felt so safe and comfortable to eat and learn about polish culture. Nezar was such a good tour guide and told us so many fun facts. Truly amazing!! Outstanding food culture with background to them
We had a great time on our tour. I was not sure how a food tour would be with children aged around 10 years old, but our guide Ophir made it fun and engaging for them. It has been a point of reference for what we have eaten on our Poland trip since. The mix of information about history and food was really appreciated as well.
Tour was informative and guide was engaging and ensured that as a solo traveler that I was included. Being on the tour allowed me to sample a variety of dishes and to learn more about the stories behind the dishes. Would recommend. Also loved that our guide was a bit of a history buff and shared his knowledge as we walked around Old Town.
Fantastic guide, but not that foodie minded.
Unfortunately, our experience with this business was extremely disappointing. We booked a private food tour for a group of five. We arrived at the designated meeting point approximately 10 minutes early and waited for around 30 minutes, but our guide never met us. While we were still at the meeting point, we called the booking platform's 24-hour support line. The representative attempted to contact the guide several times while we waited, but we were told there was no response. We subsequently requested a refund because the tour had not taken place. The operator denied the request, claiming that the guide had been at the meeting point and had attempted to contact us. We have no record of receiving those communications. During our discussions with customer support, it also emerged that an incorrect email address had been used, despite our correct email address being associated with our account. What was particularly confusing was being told that the operator had provided documentation showing that the guide had picked up "other travellers." Ours was a private tour exclusively for our group of five, so we asked how other travellers being collected demonstrated that our guide was present for our private booking. We did not receive a satisfactory explanation. We also asked for the evidence supporting the operator's account and requested that the support call made while we were physically waiting at the meeting point be considered. Nevertheless, the refund continued to be refused on the basis that the operator had denied it. We can only review the experience we personally had: we arrived for the tour, waited at the agreed meeting point, contacted support in real time when nobody arrived, and ultimately received no tour and no refund. I would strongly recommend that anyone considering booking carefully review the cancellation/refund terms and keep screenshots, location evidence and records of all communications in case something goes wrong.
Great food and Ophir is a knowledgeable and fun guide! History and food, and great locations and sites.
Best tour of Polish foods and our guide was very knowledgeable and not just food tour guide, gave us culture information too. It was the best and most fun tour in my life. I'll check other tours too. Thank you the walking parrot for these beautiful memories.
Great selection of Polish foods and our guide was very knowledgeable about the many landmarks we walked past on the tour.
My guide was very nice and knowledgeable, she was very passionate about the culture, history and food! Had such great time with her!
I spent a weekend in Warsaw and decided to try this traditional Polish food tour, and it was absolutely worth it, the food was truly unique and delicious and gave a great introduction to authentic Polish cuisine, it was not only interesting to explore the city but also to learn more about its culinary culture, the guide explained not only the dishes but also the cooking processes which made the experience even more engaging, and I would definitely take this tour again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Warsaw😊
Great tour of Polish cousins and traditional dishes found within it. Lots of sight seeing as well as historical info about Warsaw as an added bonus.
We had a very enjoyable afternoon with our guide Arif and his two trainees Büsra and Anis. Since we were only a group of six (including our guides) we had a very private tour and a lot of fun.
I arrived 15 minutes early and waited in the rain. It was an open public space, so I was relying on their guide to make himself known to me. He did not and did not approach me because he had been incorrectly informed by the tour operator of the numbers in his group. After the departure time had passed, I called the tour operator one minute after the departure time had passed. They took 10 minutes to respond, admitting that they were trying to contact the guide. finally, after half an hour they messaged again offering sincere apologies and providing an address where I could catch up with the tour. By the time I arrived on the food tour I had missed 40 minutes of a 3-hour tour and missed a couple of the food stops, and I had had to wait for half an hour in the rain, all due to the Operator's error. I mentioned on the phone to them that I felt a partial refund would be appropriate for the part of the tour that I had missed and the inconvenience suffered. Their representative said that they would get back to me about this. When I caught up with the tour the guide was deeply apologetic and did say that he could provide additional dishes at the future stops on the tour, but despite this offer, these dishes never materialised. The tour is advertised as three to three and a half hours, and it should end at the departure point. In reality, it lasted only 2.5 hours (less than 2 hours for me) because the guide left us early, in a cafe about 1.5km from the tour start point. The guide, Louis was a nice enough person, but did not appear to know much about Warsaw, Poland, or the local culture. He was a university student from India who had lived in Poland for less than two years. However, the reason I feel compelled to write this review is that the tour operator did not contact me about a refund as they had promised so I contacted Viator, who investigated. They have now come back to me and said that the tour operator had told them the following: "They've advised that even though you are the only one who is late, they tried to compensate you for the tour for another 2 stops, however, you denied their goodwill offer. " THIS IS A COMPLETE LIE. I was not late - the message in the VIATOR app was sent at 15:01 stating that I had been there for 15 minutes - start time was 15:00. Although I was offered additional dishes, I was not offered additional stops, and nothing was forthcoming - another lie. These people are dishonest and the whole experience was extremely disappointing. I could not recommend this tour to anyone.
The food selection was excellent, giving us the chance to try a variety of traditional Polish dishes, including some that were completely new to us. The guide created a very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, was easy to talk to, and shared interesting insights about local culture and everyday life in Poland. It felt more like exploring the city with a knowledgeable friend than being on a typical tour. Everything was well organized, the food was delicious, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something authentic and enjoyable🙂
Arif was absolutely amazing and knowledgeable! He walked us around and gave us plenty of great information and history. Would absolutely recommend to anyone!
I booked this tour to learn a little about Poland and try the fabulous food. I was very disappointed. We sampled a cabbage roll which was great, perogies were ok, potatoe pancake, Hungarian goulash and a donut. ( not 10 dishes as specified). Optional snapps at the end. Tour was over in 2 ( not 3-4 as stayed) hours and I had to specifically ask the guide to take me back to the starting point to meet up with my friends. He wasn’t very happy about it! No polish history, no dialogue on how the dishes were made. Spent 90% of the time staring at his back walking 50 feet in front of the group. I would appreciate a refund please. $126 was ridiculous for this tour, I feel like I wasted my chance to experience Warsaw.
My wife and I and our friends had a wonderful time on this tour. Arif was a very helpful tour guide, and he introduced us to a range of traditional Polish dishes, some of which we had tried before and some of which were new to us. He took an interest in us and offered a lot of fun insights about the city and his experiences. I would definitely recommend this tour to others.
“We had a really enjoyable food tour and a great experience overall. Our guide Arif was friendly and pleasant, with excellent knowledge of Polish food and culture. He also shared personal stories about working in Poland and his experiences with people there, which made the tour feel very authentic and interesting. Delicious food, great atmosphere, and highly recommended!
Arif was an excellent tour guide! He’s not native to Poland, which I found to be so helpful because he explained why he chooses to call Warsaw home and what makes the city so great. Plus the food was really yummy!
I had a great time! The food was yummy but Arif is a phenomenal tour guide!!! While he’s not native to Poland, he’s been here for years and explained why he loves living here and why he has made this his home. It was lovely seeing Warsaw through the eyes of someone who fell in love with the culture and food of this place.
Horrible, tour company. Kept posting on Viator, that they had the tour scheduled, but cancelled. Ruined my day. Avoid
We had a lovely personalised experience with Dorota who was a charming easy going guide. She gave us interesting insights into Warsaw and its history. The walk was around attractive historic areas . We enjoyed the tasty authentic local food..better than we had found for ourselves. Vodka shots at the end were fun.
Batka was a great guide. The food was tasty. I liked the Golabki and Pierogi. It was fun to walk around Warsaw and talk about the history.
Fantastic experience. Nitin was very personable and knowledge able about Polish cuisine and Polish history. Definitely recommend!
We have been a big fan of Viator tour and have taken many food tours when I go to a new city. This was very disappointing this is the same guide that continues to get bad reviews. I’m not sure why I have somebody who is not Polish , has only lived in the country a short time doing something that would be so personal about their city. Additionally the value was absurd. We spent US$190 for two people and I think the total cost for food for the three restaurants was probably under $20. The service at the restaurant was also poor because they didn’t see us as actual customers were probably just idiots that wanted to go on this bogus food tour. The guide head no relationship with the restaurant owners. I appreciated that we experience the equivalent to a fast food restaurant with Polish food. I really would’ve preferred paying $20 for the list of restaurants and making my own decisions once I got there
Dominic was a brilliant guide. His historical facts as e walked made the tour. The food was also delicious and the tour ended with a shot of vodka. I would highly recommend this tour and Dominic.
Dominic was a fantastic guide making this walking food tour very enjoyable with his historical information. The food was also delicious and the tour ended with a shot of vodka.
Dominic was a great host to take us on a Polish food tour. He is very knowledgeable of the Polish history.
We were lucky to have a personilised food tour experience with Dorota, a kind and knowledgable lady, who not only presented some iconic Polish food like Pierogi and Placki ziemniaczane (Pork Goulash with potato pancakes highly recommended) but explain ingredients and history behind … we learnt lots… do not miss out! THANK YOU Dorota 💕
Our guide, Dorata, was great! Great personality with interesting stories about Polish history. We tasted many really good traditional Polish food and drink. I highly recommended this tour, and especially, Dorata!
Dorata was awesome! She was very kmowledgable and explained much history of Warsaw, making the tour both fun and a learning experiance. Thank you!
We hat a great few horst with Dorota on a wonderful trip through the City with Lots of infomations and Gretchen impressions.
Dorota was just the best guide for my food tour. Knowledgeable in both polish history and food. We had such a fun tour, chatting the whole time. You won’t be disappointed if your guide is Dorota!!
My guide seemed very new, uninformed, and not very sociable. The food was alright, but we learned very little history. It started off weird when I couldn’t find the blue umbrella or parrot. He called me instead and looked like any other person. We walked to a few cafes and passed by some gorgeous buildings. We stopped momentarily for pictures and ge told us the name and purpose of the building but very little details. He gave a brief, general description of what we were going to eat but we had to ask what the Polish name of the dish and how to spell it which seems like basic script. I could have had all of these dishes for a lot less and walked away with the same knowledge. I paid for a food tour to learn about the history of dishes and the city and I didn’t get that.
Caesar was a great guide and made sure we all had a great time! We learned a lot about the food and Poland with him. It’s especially amazing as a first day or two tour
Had a lovely afternoon with plenty of Polish food and history, with Dorota. Enough break with stories during the walk so I nearly could get through all the lovely food
Nitin was wonderful and gave us a fun experience in Warsaw. Besides trying the Polish specialties, Nitin also took us on a historical tour about the city whilst walking between the restaurants. All in all a big recommendation to visitors of Poland who want to experience the food-culture.
This was a basic introduction to Polish cuisine - mostly pork, cabbage, pierogies, a flavored vodka tasting, frosted donuts. It would have been nice to hear some background about the origins and history of Polish food and its relation to the country's culture and history. But our guide, while a lovely, gracious fellow, had only been in Poland about a year. So he couldn't really impart much detail about the food or background of the restaurants we visited. We also had to walk a very long way to get to 2 of the 5 establishments on the tour. Other food tours we've done were more compact in their route which gave more time to enjoy the food.
We really enjoyed our time with Nitin Joy! He had a lot of anecdotes to share about the city and we are very happy to discover polish food with him!
Dorota was absolutely wonderful as a guide! The food was exceptional and she had such thorough knowledge about the food and the history of old town. She even loaned me her fan when I (as an American used to air conditioning) got too hot. I would recommend her and this tour to anyone visiting Warsaw.
Joy was our guide he was very friendly and helpful. More detailed information from him would have been helpful. The food was very good
Dorata was an excellent tour guide who blended delicious food with interesting knowledge about Polands history and culture. I highly recommend this tour.
The guide was not helpful at all. He was constantly walking about 10m ahead of the group, didn’t offer any notable facts or history about the food, and replied with short answers. I would recommend they attend another food tour within the city to see what the vibe should be like on these things. It was honestly a quite bizarre experience.
The tour was very nice, we visited a lot of places around the old town of Warsaw. Our tourguide told us a lot about the different foods and also some buildings we came across during the tour. Overall I would highly recommend it!
Our guide was Nitin Joy. Once we found him the tour with him was fantastic and very accommodating, especially with the heat that we had. I loved all the food that was introduced to us. He even told us facts about all the places we were passing as we were going to our next restaurant. (Note to people that can’t walk long distances, like my mother. This might not be for you. Thankfully he was so nice and willing to wait and sit down and let her take a break before we continued on. Thank you! )
