We did a private walking tour of George Washington’s Alexandria led by owner and guide, Tim. It was spectacular. Tim had so much knowledge and enthusiasm for the subject and explained everything in a way that made Alexandria and Washinton’s life there come alive. His use of visual aids added to our understanding of the history we were being shown. It was a multi- generational family trip and my dad really appreciated how easy it was to hear Tim, even with planes flying over. The day after this tour we went to Mt Vernon and found that having already been on Tim’s Alexandria tour really helped us to visualize the entirety of Washington’s life. The finale of this tour, going into George Washington’s church and sitting in his pew was a highlight of our whole DC vacation. Can’t recommend Tim and Alexandria History Tours highly enough.
This was a terrific tour of George Washington's Alexandria (and then some). Our guide, Tim (also the owner of the company), brought these places, the people, and their history to life. I love history, but for me, it's not just seeing a site, it's also really getting a feel for life then. Tim brought that home in spades with lots of fascinating stories and little-known facts. His enthusiasm was infectious. I learned a great deal about George Washington but also other people who had an impact during that time. A highlight surely was at the end when we visited George Washington's pew in Christ Church. I took this tour at the end of my visit to Alexandria, but if possible, it's helpful taking it early on. Great fun and highly recommended.
This is a great walking tour! Tim is informed and so obviously passionate about his subject. He has his own ongoing research into these topics. He is amiable , interacts with all group members easily, takes you interesting places, shows you historical photos AND tells you interesting stories.
Eileen our guide was terrific! She was very knowledgeable on George Washington and the history of Alexandria as a whole. She’s also a good storyteller. The tour is easy to walk and includes really interesting sites. A great way to see and learn about Old Town.
Absolutely wonderful guide delivered rich knowledge well. She catered the tour to our interests. It was a bit of walking in July. She found us shade trees and made it good. Would highly recommend this if you love history.
Tim was our guide, and we really enjoyed talking with him about George Washington in Alexandria and lots of other details that came up during the tour. He is very knowledgeable about Alexandria's history, and he is a very personable guide. It was a beautiful day, so we didn't think the walking was too much. We ended up talking with him for almost two hours since it was just my husband and myself, which was great. We would highly recommend this tour if you want to learn some interesting, not-so-well-known facts about George W.
outstanding tour by Eileen - very knowledgable, friendly and kept the tour interesting and fun for all -
The tour guide, Tim, was very informative and allowed me to appreciate the history behind the charm of old town alexandria
The tour guide Eileen is knowledgeable and full of energy about Alexandria and history in general. She was patient with questions and with any requests that were made. There were moments all over Alexandria that were historic and beautiful. Christ Church was magnificent, in its beauty and history very rich. It is awe inspiring. Thank you to Eileen for making the tour such and bright spot in my visit to Alexandria. It is such a historical and beautiful place to visit.
Tim did a great job leading our international group. Lots of interesting info about daily and political life in this era. Historical and architectural details were fascinating.
Tim was very knowledgeable about his subject. He was easy to hear. He was thoughtful and answered all questions. Tim had a good sense of humor. His pictures and maps made Alexandria's and Washington's crossing paths more vivid.
Tim did a great job sharing his enthusiasm for both Alexandria and George Washington! It was a warm afternoon , but the pace was such that we stayed comfortable and enjoyed walking around Old Town Alexandria learning more about our first president and some of the places he spent time here. We highly recommend Tim and Alexandria History Tours.
Yes! Absolutely book this tour. Tim was not only knowledgable about the subject matter but his love for it was palpable. Great energy. Great speaking voice. And yes, just a great guy. We will definitely reach out to Tim and Alexandria History Tours for more tours. :)
Let Tim be your guide to George Washington's Alexandria. It was amazing listening to him talk about the city and it's connection to the Father of our Country! Tim knows what he's talking about. Book him today for your next trip to VA and then thank him for the tour and his service to our country in the Marine Corps!
We are local to the area, but were interested in learning more about our hometown, so we booked a tour. Tim was exceptional in his professionalism and knowledge. He presented the information in a very easy to understand format. The tour was efficient, but not rushed. We learned many new facts about the streets we see every day and it was a very pleasant way to enjoy an afternoon. Highly recommend if you are local or visiting!
