Colin is very knowledgeable about pirates and the geopolitics of the time period. He can be a bit dry at times but it was still a very fun tour.

Excellent experience. Our guide reached out in advance gave many helpful tips to help with parking, locating and generally what to expect. Even tips for how to be prepared on a hot June day. Our Pirate was considerate choosing shady spots wherever reasonable to stop and share interesting history. Also we had family member with mobility scooter and Collin made a point to manage pace, check in and even made sure we passed public restroom. This was a high value addition to our Colonial Williamsburg living history experience and certainly recommend others add this to the list of things ga to do while nearby.
This tour was nothing about Williamsburg. A total waist of time and money . If you want a tour about the purest and the Caribbean. It my be for you but their is nothing about American colonialisms.
I really enjoyed history of pirates. It was fun to participate in the tour journey. We should not forgot history of the places where are we leaving.
Our pirate guide Colin was excellent. He contacted us the day before the tour and gave us detailed information on where to park and meet for the tour. He was easy to spot when we arrived at our meeting point. He had quite an elaborate pirate costume so we had no doubt that we had found him. We were a small group (2 adults and 2 children aged 7 and 9). I would suggest this for kids a bit older than our grandchildren. The 9 year old payed attention (most of the time) and remembered quite a bit when quizzed after the tour. It was over our 7 year olds head for the most part. On the other hand, we were impressed with the wealth of information Colin provided and learned a great deal about the history of pirates in the Virginia area. I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone interested in history. You will leave with a different perspective of the pirates of colonial Williamsburg. Wonderful tour!
My girlfriend and I had the incredible opportunity to join the Ultimate Pirate Walking Tour in Colonial Williamsburg on the weekend of April 12th. Although our original tour was rained out on the 12th, we were fortunate enough to be rescheduled for the 13th, where we enjoyed a private tour experience. This adventure was truly enlightening as we delved into America’s fascinating pirate history, discovering captivating stories and insights along the way. We even left with some fantastic books to deepen our knowledge. If you’re passionate about history or intrigued by pirates, I can’t recommend this tour highly enough—it's a must-do experience!
What a splendid way to spend the morning in Colonial Williamsburg. Colin is an absolutely fantastic tour guide who is incredibly knowledgable and fun. Highly recommend this tour!!
Colin was fun and very knowledgeable about the history of privateering/piracy. I would definitely recommend!
Colin was our guide and he did a fabulous job! So much knowledge delivered in such an interesting way. 10/10 recommend. Hubby and I had a fab time :)
If you’re looking for an entertaining yet educational experience in Colonial Williamsburg, the Pirate Tour is an absolute must! I went in expecting a fun adventure for all ages, and it did not disappoint. From the moment we set out, our guide – dressed in authentic pirate attire – captivated us with tales of daring buccaneers, colonial intrigue, and the real-life pirates who roamed Virginia’s waters. The tour is well-paced, blending pirate legends with historical context, so you feel like you’re stepping back in time. Along the way, we learned about the brutal realities of piracy, and even picked up some “pirate lingo.” Highlights included hearing about Blackbeard’s dramatic capture and the significant role of piracy in colonial economics and politics. Whether you’re a history buff or just in it for the swashbuckling fun, the Pirate Tour at Colonial Williamsburg is a fantastic way to experience this part of history. Highly recommended for families, groups, or anyone with a love for adventure! -Kim Anne ❤️
We learned so much about the history of privateering and piracy globally, and in the Colonial area of the United States. Collin was a very informative, and engaging tour guide. We definitely recommend this tour!
I wasn’t exactly sure what this tour would cove and was pleasantly surprised! I’ve been to Williamsburg many times and this was very unique. Colin was a wealth of knowledge on the history of pirates and privateering. He wove Virginia’s history and impact on pirates throughout the storytelling.
Colin is very knowledgeable about pirating and gave us new insights into history. I never realized what a significant impact pirates had on colonial economies. Something that is not taught in mainstream history.
We were the only 2 on the tour, but Pirate Rackem did an outstanding job walking us the history of Pirateering in the Williamsburg area. Very knowledgeable and ensuring we remained comfortable throughout the tour, Great job!!
Colin knew so much about all the Pirates that came through the area and all the background of their previous travels!! Would definitely recommend this tour!!
Colin was our guide for the tour. He was very interesting and informative. We had a wonderful time. I would recommend him to all of our family and friends. If you’re looking for something that is completely different from the usual tour of Williamsburg, this is the guy.Thank you Colin! Sandee and Tim
Collin, our guide, was very knowledgeable. My husband and myself learned some new things about pirates and their importance in the early colonies. If you're planning on visiting Colonial Williamsburg, I definitely recommend this tour. Collin gives you the ins and outs about everything. If you want to know how the early colonists got their ideas,Collin's stories tell you that. This tour is a must for anyone wanting to hear and learn about how pirating and pirarateering influenced early America.
beautiful day for a tour. Colin our pirate tour guide was super nice and my daughter and I had great time learning things about pirate history in Virginia and other places around the world. makes me want to do some more research as there were things I did not know. we had a great time, we are already planning a trip back next year with my grandkids. They would love this!!!
The tour itself was really interesting- the guide, Colin, was very knowledgeable. He explained the history and intrigues of piracy and its impact on Williamsburg - lots of surprising facts and stories. Well done. We bought the tickets through Vacations Made Easy. Nothing about getting the tickets was easy, plus they tried to book us for a time share presentation. We had to collect the tickets in person at a resort, and only then did we get a link to the tickets ourselves. Still we really enjoyed the tour and recommend it.
Awakening perspective regarding Pirates and their role in the creation of our Democratic Republic. Given as a pirate's verbal presentation while casually walking through Colonial Williamsburg.
Colin is very knowledgeable and entertaining. He shared a lot of pirate history and talked about the Pirates of the Caribbean movie's authenticity. It was a very enjoyable tour
We had a great time on the Pirate Tour! Colin was awesome! He was very knowledgeable and we all learned a lot of fun and interesting facts!!
Colin is an excellent tour guide. He is very knowledgeable and was open to answer our questions. He walked at a comfortable pace and took timed scheduled breaks. At one point he guided sit on bench a bench where he showed us on a map the routes the pirate ships took. Very historically accurate. I highly recommend this tour.
Collin, our pirate, seemed to be well studied and presented a fun and informative walk. Great stories
Wonderful tour with knowledgeable guide who was very entertaining. This is a great way to spend the afternoon and enjoy Williamsburg.
Collin was great!! We learned so much on this tour and it was neat to see how pirates had an impression on Colonial Williamsburg that you never thought would have. He kept the tour interesting the whole time, I highly recommend!
My family did the morning Tour and it was like we had our own private tour since it was us. It was great!
One of my favorite tours in Williamsburg! Very informative with lots of pirate history! Loved Colin our tour guide. Very knowledgeable. Absolutely loved it!
It was a great time. Our guide was very knowledgeable. Everyone enjoyed it. We all learned something new.
"¡Muchas gracias por la maravillosa guía! Disfrutamos mucho del recorrido gracias por su conocimiento.” Thank you so much for the wonderful tour! We really enjoyed the trip thanks to your expertise."
Excellent. Great attitude and very accommodating with the hot weather. Very knowledgeable and well versed on his history and keeps things related back to Williamsburg and colonial times.
Our guide Colin was very knowledgeable . He was great at providing stories, and details of the unspoken Pirate history. This private tour was booked for the history enthusiast among us. Colin’s British perspective brought the whole colonial picture to life. I have recommended this tour to others. It’s a definite DON’T MISS for those who want to know more historical facts.
We learned a great deal about how the movement of goods, between Europe, Asia, and the new America, was kept flowing by the pirates, especially the good ones.
Funny and informative, Colin is obviously passionate about his subject. We never realized the significance of privateers in the history of Virginia. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone with an interest in the adventures of the original notorious pirates.
Our pirate guide Colin was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of privateering. This is an absolute ‘must’ for any fans of Black Sails as you hear about the ‘real’ pirates of the Caribbean. You are transported back in time as you escape the bustle of normal life and stroll the historic streets of Colonial Williamsburg listening to many facts but also tales and legends of the most notable pirates. The gift of pirate gold coins and Black Bart’s Code were lovely souvenirs of an enjoyable morning. Highly recommend this tour.
Collin was a great pirate guide who really brought the history and relevance of piracy and privateers to life. If you are intrigued by famous pirates such as Blackbeard or enjoyed tv series like black sails, I highly encourage you to take this tour!
It was very interesting. You might want to let people know where to park. He was very good and very concerned if we needed to sit down.
Colin was our “pirate” he did a great job of relaying the history and how important pirates were to the economy of the colonies. I was very impressed when just prior to our meeting time he called to be sure I had found the parking ok, it can be a little confusing. Thumbs up to Colin- thanks
It was very informative, full of history and fun facts. The tour guide knew his stuff and kept us engaged. Must do if you're into pirates!
Our personal pirate had so much information that every step had so much for us to learn. It was fun to imagine ourselves back in the time of the pirates that sailed from here to Jamaica.
Colin was full of knowledge and really gave a lot of information that I had no clue about on the tour. He also gave a great suggestion for local place to eat as we don't know the area well.
We had a great experience on the Ultimate Pirate Walking tour. Our tour guide Colin was dressed as a pirate and his English accent added to the authenticity. He led us around the old colonial village stopping to tell us about the ties between piracy in the new world and the establishment of the colonial capitol. Some I was familiar with, but I learned so much more. The tour started at 10;30am which was nice because we ere done before it got really hot. Truly entertaining.
