Lena was an exceptional tour guide. Her knowledge of history, art and the Richmond area added considerably to our enjoyment of the ghost tour experience.

It was great! Both guides had really interesting stories and they had clearly done a lot of research. It was fascinating and spooky. My husband and I had a great time.

Jeffrey was my tour guide to Richmond's haunted past (and present), and knows his stuff. He covered a lot of ground in our 90-minute tour, and I now see the city in a different (and more interesting) light. Highly recommended!!

Jeffery is an eclectic, enthralling guide with an obvious passion and skill for storytelling. He has deep knowledge of local history and uses this knowledge to both educate and provide authentic, haunting stories: "Sometimes, monsters are real, and many of them can be found in our history". Most importantly, he manages to create a haunting atmosphere while showing immense respect for both the mystical and the real people behind the stories. If you want some tourist trap/surface level "frights" then look elsewhere because he gets real.

Jeffery was very knowledgeable about the area’s lore and history. He made the experience personable and left you with an abundance of information to take home and digest.

Interesting and disturbing history. Fewer ghost stories than I expected. The tour guides were passionate about the city and its history. We enjoyed it. Actually peaked my interest enough to do further research and ready about some of the figures we learned about.

My wife and I were in Richmond for a couple days, and we booked this on a whim to learn more about the area. With it being a Monday night - we were the only people who booked a tour so it was awesome having a "Private tour" Jeffrey is a great tour guide! He does a great job at making the tour educational, a little spooky, and entertaining! It's a fantastic blend of history and a little bit of the "scary" side of history. Jeffrey really cares about his craft and definitely does his research. With only living in Richmond for a couple years, he probably knows more than people who have lived there for decades. My wife and I had a really positive experience learning about the darker side of Richmond's history, but it was cool learning some of the silver linings of that history as well.

Great Richmond, VA history, along with some pretty spooky stories. Our tour guide, Lena, clearly knows about the capital's darker side, and did an admirable job of sharing the creepy details body snatching, collapsing tunnels, feline specters, etc. We ended up at the Poe Museum just as the antique gaslight came on. We were looking for a night historical tour and found a couple. One had quite a few reviews but they were mixed, some really liked it and others not so much. We found this tour. It didn't have many reviews but they were all positive so we decided to take this one and we're glad we did. Jeffrey did an excellent job. He has done his research and is very knowledgeable about the history of Richmond. He is an experienced tour guide and did his best to make everyone feel comfortable. This is not a ghost tour but a great historical tour.

Jeffrey Holmes gives a great tour of Richmond's Shockloe district. He is a history nut and reads, researches, interviews, does everything he can to bring the haunted history of the place to life. Our tour had 8 people, his competing tour, US Ghost Adventures, had about 30 people for their McDonald's version of a ghost tour. We saw many places and learned a lot. This was a great tour. Unfortunately for Richmond, Jeffrey takes his business to New Orleans for the winter.

A solid history tour that was well presented and researched. Our guide was very knowledgeable, well prepared and social. The walking pace was good for the average person, not too fast or too steep. The ghostly and supernatural information may be less than your "typical" ghost tour but they were all founded ethe history of Richmond.

I absolutely adore learning the history of a city both good and not so good occurrence which helped to shape its modern day society. While visiting Richmond near Halloween, of course it was only fit to learn about the cities chilling stories from the past filled with murder, mystery, and mayhem. Our tour did not disappoint! Our tour guide Jeffery is quite a history buff and is well prepared to share all the stories about Richmonds past including Settler disasters, Slave trade, Greedy Merchants, Sadistic psychopaths, Ghosts, Vampires and more.

Strange Richmond Tours offers the best ghost tour in Richmond! I visited town recently, and my friend and I weren't sure which tour to take, but I am SO glad we did this one! Jeffrey, the guide and owner, is a former tour guide in New Orleans, so you know he has the experience. What sets Jeffrey and his company apart is the focus on real history. You aren't going to get jump scares or silly tales here - Jeffrey is serious about history and doing the stories right. He knows a LOT about a LOT, but at the same time, he is the nicest, most down-to-earth guide I've ever met. I have done many tours in many places, and this was definitely one of my favorites. I know they are a newer company, and I hope they really take off because they are the real deal!
