We enjoyed great samples from Carytowne restaurants. Our host had fun stories and history to share about the area. Highly recommend this tour.

Fantastic, Lindsay and Mattie were both wonderful. Highly recommend this tour. We were 5 people and 3 had never been on a food tour they absolutely loved it.
Lindsay was fun, approachable, and clearly knew a lot about the city. It was nice to get a 'taste of Carytown' with a real insider! The tour was a great mix of the tried-and-true places and the new 'hot spots' in town.
I cannot say enough great things about Jeremy and this food tour. I am born and raised in this city and all but one were restaurants I had never visited/knew existed. It was such a delight! I love trying new foods and I enjoyed learning history I had never heard before. I will most certainly be attending other tours
Food was very good. From an amazing chicken and waffle to an Afghanistan dumpling. Guide wasn’t very engaging. No history of Richmond or the Carytown area. The guide did highlight the 100 yr old NY Deli and the Byrd Theatre. But long gaps in walking to the next stop without any info.
Lindsey was our guide and was great. She gave lots of interesting information about the area, buildings, owners during the tour. We did this tour and then the Church Hill food tour the following day (also highly recommended). Myself, husband, and 2 boys in college attended. The stops for food tasting were amazing. Able to accommodate one in my family who is a vegetarian. Make sure you plan to spend time before/after your tour to go in all the shops in the area. Would definitely do again!
Carytown food tour was a great time! We had a wonderful time with our guide, Erin, exploring Carytown and sampling a range of tastes and sips (savory and sweet) of some of the best Carytown has to offer. This was our third Discover Richmond food tour and they never disappoint!
All the stops were great…..each one was better than the next. Definitely would return to all of them. Jeremy was super fun and kept it entertaining the whole time! Highly recommend if your a local or in town visiting.
So much great food and interesting facts! Lindsay gave a great tour with culinary highlights on the cuisine, the restaurants/businesses and Carytown! Really enjoyed the Point Five exposure too!
Come prepared to eat a lot of fabulous food. Loved learning about the city. Had a great time. Loved!
My wife Kathy & I thoroughly enjoyed our Carytown Food Tour Saturday afternoon, August 2, with "Discover Richmond Food Tours" and Lindsey as our host. Lindsey instantly transformed our eight into a chatting family and off we went together. Although we thought we were already familiar with Carytown, Lindsey's extensive knowledge of the community history and great choices in new and fun eateries made the tour a delight from start to finish. And we intend to return soon with family and friends to enjoy our new Carytown favorites, most of which we likely might not have noticed but for this tour. Thank you Lindsey and Discover Richmond!
Great tour - Carytown changes so even if you think you know the fun food spots, you’ll find a new fav on this tour.
Jeremy is one of the friendliest & most knowledgeable tour guides I’ve had. He engaged each & everyone of the 12 people in our tour group. I look forward to another Richmond tour with him…Kelly Smith
Olivia knew soooo much! She could pivot to answer any question we had. With dates, names, facts, etc. The choice of restaurants gave us a true flavor of the neighborhood. I’d love to participate in your other tours! Thank you!
Olivia made it a great experience. She was well versed in the area, restaurants and food. We had a great group!
My tour was amazing! And round of applause to Lindsey for her knowledge and humor. Lindsey and all the restaurant partners were so accommodating on the fly and I really appreciate their professionalism. I will definitely recommend Richmond Tours to my local friends as a unique date or experience.
We did this tour on a very cold day in February with Olivia. Even though it was freezing out, she did an outstanding job of keeping us interested, entertained, and laughing the whole time. Olivia is passionate about making sure her guests have a great time. She’s very knowledgeable about the restaurants and the history of the area. We found the restaurants to be very engaged as well. The food was all very well prepared and super tasty. The unexpected delight was The Mantu - the food was 10/10 and the setting is extraordinary. Highly recommend this tour and Olivia if she’s available.
The food tour was excellent! It combined history of the area with tasty food. Our guide Olivia was great! She's local to the area and knew all the ins and outs. Highly recommend her and the tour!
Olivia was very knowledgeable about the history of Carrytown. She stopped along the way and told interesting stories.
Tour was very fun. Food was good. Our tour guides were fantastic, knowledgeable, & fun. The weather was nice & if it’s your first time in the area this tour is especially nice because you get some fun facts about some local establishments.
We really enjoyed our time on the food tour with Olivia. The food choices were delicious. I like that she included so much history in it . The time went so fast. We hated to see it end. This is our first time in Richmond. It was a good way to experience your city.
Great tour, very efficient, interesting restaurants. We saw a great part of Richmond which we wouldn’t have found otherwise. Olivia was fun and informative.
This food tour was awesome. Nice portions were offered to try and every bite was better than the last. Definitely recommend.
Excellent food, excellent tour guide! We had an amazing time!! Non alcoholic options for my cousin and food allergy options available for people on demand. Had a great time! Thank you!!
We had a great time on the Carrytown Food Tour! It was our second tour with Discover Richmond. The food was great and the restaurants were very welcoming. Olivia was the Best guide! She was funny and knows everything about food! Her knowledge of the history of Richmond and the United States was impressive. The people in our group were friendly. Highly Recommend!
Olivia gave us a fantastic food tour! She has a terrific sense of humor! The food stops were all tasty, different and fun!
We had a blast! Olivia the tour guide is fantastic and she puts a special touch to the overall atmosphere. The organization was on point, time management was outstanding, food was amazing and the little history updates from Olivia were the perfect compliment to the overall experience. Highly recommend it!
My husband and I did this food tour for my birthday and it did not disappoint! Although we are VA natives we’ve done very little exploration of Richmond. This tour was a great opportunity to get familiar with Carytown and everything it has to offer. Our tour guide, Olivia, was hilarious and very knowledgeable of the town’s history, which was a nice mixture of content to have. We enjoyed the variety of foods and drinks that we got to try. I won’t spoil all of the stops but our favorite dish was probably the chicken and waffles at New York Deli. The pizza slice at Zorch Pizza was everything you would want in a slice and a close second in comparison. The espresso martini at Can Can Brasserie is definitely worth trying (note drinks at most stops are an additional charge). The only critique we had was about the stop at Home Sweet Home. It’s not the tour’s fault but both of our sandwiches and soups were lukewarm. If a restaurant is serving comfort food on a cold/windy January day, it would make sense to serve it as hot and fresh as possible to convince people to come back. The flavors were still really good and the decor was “unique” (i.e. don’t come to this place if you get offended by words and drawings by adolescents). Also one idea that I think could elevate the experience is to offer a drink package add on. I’ve done a few other food tours in various big cities and for an up-charge some offer a drink pairing for every food stop. I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone! Apparently they do tours for other areas of Richmond as well so I’m keeping them in mind for future visits!
Olivia was wonderful! Great at giving us some history of Cary Town. She has a great sense of humor. She kept the tour interesting and fun. The food was delicious. Looking forward to booking another!
Olivia was a great guide. Informative, funny, always interesting. She took care of everyone and everything and made sure to include all of us during the entire tour.
Just moved to Richmond and loved the Carytown Food Tour with Olivia! Food and restaurant selection was perfect and Olivia’s humor and historical knowledge elevated the tour. I will definitely look into another tour with Discover Richmond Food tours.
WOW! I’ve done these tours in Charleston and Savannah and the Carytown tour tops all of them. Olivia our tour guide was so great! I wouldn’t mind this tour a second time. Food was plentiful and so good.
Olivia is an amazing tour guide; she is knowledgeable, friendly, and funny! The food was excellent with top honors to the tomato soup at Home Sweet Home and Bev’s coffee oreo ice cream. Can Can’s bread was also yummy! I am a local and this was my second time on the tour— another great time; thanks, DR!
Great time, interesting facts about the restaurants and food, friendly people, yummy food and an Awesome tour guide. So will do another one of the food tours they offer.
My adult daughter and I went on the Carytown Tasting Tour. Food was delicious and restaurants were interesting. The best part was the other participants and Erin, our guide. She was very knowledgeable. It was a fun afternoon!
The host was very knowledgeable and delightful. We had a nice variety of food. Something for everyone.
Our guide, Olivia was so much fun. She was friendly and made sure each guest was well taken care of. We all ate our way through Carytown at a leisurely pace and there was a good selection of restaurants.
My sister-in-law and I had our girls trip in Richmond and took this food tour. It was awesome and our guide Olivia was fantastic! If you go on one of these tours I hope you get her. Funny, very interactive with everyone, just a breath of fresh air. Looking forward to another one soon!
Olivia was very knowledgeable and personable. It was our first food tour ever, and I wasn't sir that it would be worth it, because we are pretty good at checking out neighborhoods and experiencing things on our own. But we would have never known the stories behind the establishments. And especially with such a busy neighborhood, it was really great popping into different places without waiting for a table and being able to try tastes of lots of different things. Highly recommend!
Learning about the town and it’s history was great! Our tour guide (and the other people on our tour) were super friendly!!!
The tour was informative, the food was delicious and our guide, personable and engaging! My teenage daughter tried mussels for the first time and loved the experience of new tastes and great company.
Overall a very enjoyable experience. Plenty of food and the pacing was good. Group size was just right.
Wow! How much fun!! We were greeted in Carytown with so many people celebrating Halloween. Kids, parents and dogs all dressed for the occasion. Amber met us at the New York Deli where we had the chance to taste their popular version of chicken and waffles. So delicious and unique! Amber was informative, friendly and knowledgeable of the Carytown area and shared interesting tidbits of the area. I have been on many food tours in different states, and this definitely is in the top 3. The choice of restaurants and friendly atmosphere made this a perfect outing. Thanks Amber!
My sister and I had a wonderful time on this tour! I was visiting her from New York and she hadn't been to many of the restaurants we went to. It was a fun way to sample food and drink from 6 different places without having to worry about what to order or where to sit. Every place we went to welcomed us in such a friendly way and our tour guide, Lindsey, was very personable. She gave us the back stories of all the places we visited as well as tips and recommendations on other fun things to do near Richmond. She clearly had a good relationship with the vendors and we loved all the food we tried. Food we sampled was: jalapeno chicken n waffles and New York Deli, frites and mussels in white wine/butter/garlic at Can Can Brasserie , seared Fluke and mussels at the Broken Tulip, a microbrewery, and homemade ice cream. We were stuffed full and had a great experience. Highly recommend!
Erin toured our group and was nothing less than amazing! We walked up and down Cary street to various restaurants and bars to try different drinks and food. I would recommend this food tour to couples/families visiting that want a good day activity to explore town
Erin was a wonderful guide. She was personable, knowledgeable, and seem to know her way around Carytown and the local businesses. The portions were more than I've had at previous food tours. We did leave the tour very full and satisfied. I highly recommend this tour to anyone and everyone... local, tourist, young and old.
Come hungry! The quantities were ample! Erin and Brian were wonderful guides but felt more like hosts! They obviously have excellent relationships with the restaurants and we were well taken care of while learning about the neighborhood and history of the restaurant!
Such a great way to explore some of Richmond! We learned interesting things about the Carytown neighborhood and some of the restaurants we went to, and of course we ate lots of food! I was very full at the end. Highly recommend.
Lindsey was a great guide! She is very knowledgeable. The restaurants were nice however it would have been nice if there was a little more. For the price paid we did not feel like the food quantity was comparable. We have gone on the Arts tour and it was much better.
We recently enjoyed a Cary Town food tour. Great Saturday afternoon visiting several dining establishments and learning history and more. The food was great and the tour guide Lindsey was very personable. We enjoyed NY deli, Can Can, and Bev’s icecream for dessert. Highly recommended!
