I booked a suite at the commonwealth for my sister’s bachelorette party, and our experience was wonderful! It started with absolutely excellent service from Eric, the valet, who happily packed all of our smattering of nonsense onto the luggage cart. He was also incredibly helpful in coordinating a small surprise for my sister by discreetly taking gifts to the room from the other girls who came to meet us, with help from the lovely Jose at the main desk. The bar service was wonderful as well. The rooms are generous, with plenty of space to spread out. The layout of the suite made it a perfect spot for our trip. We were able to play host for those who weren’t staying overnight without having them awkwardly in our bedroom, and the bedroom was dark and quiet, which was perfect for our expecting friend who didn’t party as late as the others. The location is wonderful, with the opportunity to walk the state capitol grounds and is a ten minute ride at most from all the fun you could wish to have. I would absolutely stay here again, I cannot say enough about what a great experience it was!

Room was OK. Spacious. What brought this down was the food in the restaurant. Just awful food and service. Nacho cheese on the nachos was below room temp cold. Like it was poured directly out of a can. Chicken sandwich was burned and had some odd film or crust on it to where I could not bite through it. Burger was just a frozen patty with zero flavor. Just no attempt to make basic food taste somewhat reasonable. And service was nearly as bad. Paid zero attn to us despite us being the only customers at the time. I had to keep getting up to walk 10ft to the bar bc he was just sitting there on his phone. Wanted a quick meal before a concert and this failed miserably. Do better.
I enjoyed this place. I would call it quaint. A boho feel. Lots of almost southern charm. Employees were super nice, courteous and accommodating. Shout out to Juan at the desk, Eric on valet and Mr. Artis, the chef. Really good restaurant in house. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. Conveniently located downtown.
Amazing location and great rooms. Special shout out to Eric the valet for such personal service and a friendly face to see as we come and go. He even took the time to learn our dog’s name and say hi to him every time! Only complaint would be the shower. Water pressure is poor as well as water temp. Half the shower and cold and half the shower is too hot to be near. The shower door doesn’t close all the way so water gets out. It’s an old building so can’t complain too much. Overall- will return!
Outstanding stay! So much to love! Huge suite and so tastefully decorated! The hotel is dog friendly and sits adjacent to a beautiful historical park with statues in the center of Richmond. In the end I forgot our bags in the lobby and manager Laura Shirooni went out of her way to ensure they were shipped to us! We are so appreciative! Also Quan was an excellent host and bartender in the hotel bar. We enjoyed the happy hour pricing and selections! A five star stay in every way!
