Been here many times. This time such a different experience. Horrible mattresses, so uncomfortable. There’s a cabinet door in here that looks like it had water damage and looks like mold. The toilet rarely flushes. Bathroom smelled of piss before it was even used. I paid almost $500 for one night ocean view room and they put us in a room with the smallest balcony, compared to the others. Only one person can sit a see the ocean while the other person has to sit and stare at a parking lot. This is NOT a 4 star hotel. Maybe 1.5 at best. Doesn’t pay to be a “Bon Voy” member does it? It’s almost 5am now and haven’t been to sleep. Thanks Marriott.

I normally don’t write negative reviews, but I feel this experience needs to be shared. I was really excited to enjoy my weekend at this Marriott property, and for the most part, I did. Unfortunately, on our final night, the light happened to hit the comforter at a certain angle and I noticed what appeared to be mildew or mold-like staining throughout portions of the comforter. I honestly couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I had already been sleeping in this bed during my stay, and immediately I began wondering how long the comforter had been in that condition and what I may have been exposed to. It completely changed how I felt about my stay. What made the situation even more disappointing was the response when I reported it. I brought the issue to an associate named Clinton and showed him the photos. I expected some level of concern, especially considering this involved the cleanliness of the bedding. Instead, the response felt very casual. He did not ask me to send the photos or provide additional information. I was simply told that someone would reach out to me. No one has contacted me. As a Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite member who stays with Marriott frequently, this was extremely disappointing. I choose Marriott because I expect a certain standard of cleanliness, service, and professionalism. Clean bedding should be one of the most basic expectations when staying at any hotel, especially a Marriott. I also operate several businesses myself, so I understand how damaging a negative review can be. I don’t take posting something like this lightly, and I always believe a business should have the opportunity to correct a problem. That is exactly why I reported it directly to the hotel first and waited for someone from management to contact me. At this point, my concern goes beyond an apology. I would like to know how bedding in this condition made it into a guest room and what is being done to ensure another guest does not have the same experience. I left what was supposed to be an enjoyable weekend feeling uncomfortable, disappointed, and questioning the cleanliness of the room I had already spent nights sleeping in. I truly hope management takes this seriously and reaches out with an appropriate resolution. This is definitely not the experience I expected from Marriott.
4.5/5. We had a great stay at the Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront. The hotel was exceptionally clean, staff were friendly and helpful, beds were comfortable, and our 20th-floor oceanfront room had a beautiful view of the coastline. Despite being a large resort, the room was also remarkably quiet. What I liked most was that this is a resort where you can genuinely enjoy spending a day without leaving. The Marriott, Embassy Suites and historic Cavalier are all part of the larger Cavalier Resort, with restaurants and amenities throughout the property. The Marriott has comfortable oceanfront common areas, a large lawn with games and seating, pool and beach towel service, food/drink service outside, bike rentals and direct access to the boardwalk and an exceptionally clean beach. Beach attendants provide chairs and umbrellas, and I watched the beach being groomed every morning while watching the sunrise. We enjoyed the restaurants, particularly getting seafood at The Deck, and the Marriott’s rooftop restaurant has beautiful ocean views. Expect resort prices: roughly $15+ for drinks, $30+ per person for meals, and parking was about $27/night. A few minor negatives: the Marriott pool is relatively small, crowded with families and lacks a hot tub/adult area. The bathroom had no exhaust fan, so humidity could be noticeable. There are also only four elevators for the entire hotel, which became noticeably inconvenient once the weekend crowd arrived. Luggage carts are reserved for bell service, so either plan to use and tip the bell staff or carry your luggage yourself from the attached garage. The resort is at the quieter north end of the Oceanfront, which I personally liked, but the heavier shopping/tourist area is farther south. Overall, the negatives were minor. The cleanliness, service, beautiful beach, ocean views and genuinely enjoyable resort amenities made this an easy 4.5/5, and I would stay here again.
I wanted to recognize Angelina for the outstanding job she did at the pool. She was absolutely exceptional. From the moment we arrived, it was clear she took her responsibilities seriously. She managed the pool area with confidence, professionalism, and maturity while making sure everyone stayed safe and the rules were followed. What impressed me most was her ability to be direct without ever being rude or disrespectful. At one point, she had to correct my own child. As a parent, I know some people can be sensitive when someone else redirects their child, but Angelina handled the situation so professionally and respectfully that I couldn’t have been more impressed. She communicated clearly, remained calm, and immediately redirected my child’s attention in a positive way. It was exactly how you would hope a staff member would handle that situation. Employees like Angelina are hard to find. She represents your organization incredibly well and deserves recognition for the way she balances safety, professionalism, and excellent customer service. Thank you, Angelina, for making our visit enjoyable and for creating a safe environment for everyone. Keep up the outstanding work!
What a fantastic property! Checking was a breeze. We arrived quite early knowing that check-in was not until 4pm but we received a text at 11:30am that our room was ready. Great well-appointed room on 14th floor facing south. We were grateful for very efficient AC since outside temps exceeded 100 degrees during our stay. Awesome balcony, frig, bedding extra towels and washcloths! I can’t remember the last time I had a washcloth in a hotel! 🤪 The keyless entry was great—the wristband was comfortable and we never worried about a key. The elevators also get you to your floor by scanning the wristband. We never waited long for an elevator and they traveled at lightning speed. Orion’s was fantastic with excellent service. The roof Bar was amazing. Five bartenders that made sure that both dining guests and bar guests had all their needs met. Lauren and the rest of the team are very talented, friendly and they have all the top shelf bottles! The beach was great and not having to haul our own chairs across the hot sand was a bonus that we didn’t expect. The pool was the perfect, refreshingly cool water temp that you hope for on a very hot day. The team of pool staff are amazing. We were given towels and were given chairs that provided us the amount of sun and shade we needed. Angelina was super in making sure we were content and had everything we needed. She was busy all day setting up towels on chairs and resetting them when people left. She works hard but with a smile and friendliness that assures you that she loves her job and the people that she serves. She really impressed us. We only wished they had an adults-only pool. We cannot wait to return!
