Jim is a knowledgeable and lighthearted guide. This is a very enjoyable and well-paced tour.
Jim was a knowledgeable and fun guide. He balanced giving us info about the sites of Vilnius and Trakai while giving us plenty of space to explore on our own. Very enjoyable and highly recommended.
An excellent tour from Vilnius to Trakai and Hill of Angels. Jim was a great guide and shared loads of interesting historical facts along the way. Trakai Castle was busy but didn’t feel too overcrowded. It is a peaceful stroll to the castle, passing by wee gift stalls before crossing the bridges. After touring the castle and sampling some local Lithuanian food, we headed to the Hill of Angels. This was a 5 minute drive away and was something a wee bit different to see! All in all it was a great day out which we would thoroughly recommend. Thanks Jim from one Scottish family to a fellow Scot 🏴❤️🇱🇹
Fantastic guide. So glad we did this trip with Jim. Great enthusiasm, funny and knowledgeable. Saw many things beyond Trakai and learned surprising history. Worth it!
Great adventure! Patricia, our guide, was full of information about the history of Lithuiana. The hill of angels was amazing.
I had an amazing time at Trakai castle but our guide really made the trip! The castle is stunning, absolutely beautiful, and the area surrounding it is peaceful and tranquil. You can see why it’s one of the absolute must-dos when you’re visiting Lithuania. It was, however, our guide, Patricija, that really elevated the experience. She was engaging and knowledgeable, as well as warm and funny. On the way to the castle, she was able to provide real context to the history of the country and the castle itself, setting the scene for the journey, preparing us for what was about to come. By the time we’d arrived, we were all very excited! What was really nice, though, is that she was clear and concise with her info, and gave the group space to take in the surroundings, both on and off the coach. She had an easy manner, and brought people into the conversation, with their questions, answering anything that was put her way, which is a real skill. The hill of angels was the cherry on the cake, and wandering around the art works, was wonderful. There are many ways to go Trakai, but the comfort of a bus ride, and your own guide is seriously too good to pass up. It was great value, relaxed and very informative. When returning to Vilnius, I will definitely be using Jim’s tours again!
Jim is Scottish but has a wealth of knowledge on Lithuanian history, cuisine, geography and climate. He was able to answer every questioned we asked. I liked the fact our group of 7 were driven around the newest part of Vilnius too which I had not visited. While the weather wasn't ideal we had a great trip and everybody bonded quickly - there were Australians, Dutch, American and one from the UAE. Trakai is well worth visiting with plenty to see. There are lots of cafes too and restaurants serving great Lithuanian food. We all had lunch together. We also stopped at the Hill of Angels on the return to,Vilnius. My only suggestion would be that, rather than starting the walk at the top of the town, those that want it, be driven instead to the old fort foundations and Cathedral first and then allowed to walk back to the pick up point and restaurant. This way it would be just one continuous walk rather than walking both ways. Or at least being given this option. This is not a criticism just a suggestion.
Patricia, our guide was amazing - friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable. She made the whole trip fun!!😊
Had a fantastic trip to Trakai with Jim. He’s a great guide — charming, laid-back, knowledgeable, and clearly someone who genuinely loves what he does and loves sharing Lithuania with visitors. The whole day felt relaxed and fun, and everyone in our group seemed to have a great time. Highly recommend Jim if you’re visiting Vilnius and want to experience a bit more of Lithuania!
Great small group trip and highly recommend it! Jim was a great guide - giving us a lot of information about about Lithuanian culture, history, as well as a fun playlist in the van! Was very relaxing tour and had plenty of time to explore at each of the stops. You had an option of staying with the group or venturing out on your own! Great option for solo travelers. Ačiū Jim!!!!
Fun and informative tour to Trakai with a stop at the Hill of Angels. Plenty of free time to enjoy these lovely areas. Great tour guide who provides the right amount of info with humor and fun facts. Highly recommend!
Great for learning about Lithuanian history. Enjoyed Trakai and lunch with the guide and fellow travelers. The visit to Trakai was unstructured.
Castle visit and hill of angels Jim’s tour was the best. Highly recommend He was very informative and a lot of fun.
Fantastic tour. Jim was a very engaging and informative host, who created a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Trakai is gorgeous and we had a generous amount of time to spend there. We enjoyed joining other tour members for lunch but there was no pressure or expectation to do so for those that preferred to do their own thing. I’m also so pleased that we stopped off at the Hill of Angels on our way back. All in all a great experience. Can’t recommend it highly enough!
Jim was incredibly knowledgeable and such a funny guy. Best tour operator in Lithuania highly recommend.
The castle itself was not a big deal. Long line to get in and it’s really a recent reconstruction with a few art displays inside. The town was nice. Jim was a very good guide. He gave a lot of interesting info on Lithuania and was pleasant. The bus was also good.
I really enjoyed this trip. The area is beautiful and peaceful and offers walks and vistas that will satisfy any casual photographer, hiker, or nature lover. There are also a variety of water sports available, including sailing, pedal boating, kayaking, and paddle boarding. There are of course a few touristy bits, but you can easily avoid these. Our very capable guide Jim, who hails from bonny Scotland, is very affable and genuine and is a real pleasure to chat with. The trip is very good value for money, so I would definitely encourage anyone to make it a part of their itinerary.
Overall great experience. Jim was very knowledgeable and kind throughout the tour. She would definitely recommend!
Great fun! Jim kept in touch before the tour, was personable and very knowledgable. We had free time in Trakai, which was nice and we didn’t feel “scheduled”. Super easy and fun tour with Jim. Highly recommend!
Jim’s Trakai tour was the best tour I had in Vilnius. 1) The pickup time at 11:00 am was perfectly timed. I didn’t have to rush to go to the meeting point after breakfast. 2) Jim’s van was comfortable. AC working well with free bottled water. Ride was smooth. 3)Jim is kind and easy to talk to. He’s very helpful, knowledgeable, communication/accent was clear and understandable. I had a great time and learned so much from Jim. I highly recommend his tour.
Jim's tour was very informative and fun! We loved the friendly atmosphere and group interactions and would defenetly recommend this tour.
Fun, informative, interesting .. good knowledge and good humor, conversation and the time spent is well spaced
Informative and fun! Enjoyed learning about Lithuania and the freedom to explore Trakai. Lunch with Jim and fellow explorers was another highlight!
A very nice tour. Jim is a wonderful guide. He is very personable, with many great stories to keep everyone engaged and entertained. The tour was very well paced and never felt rushed. Highly recommend it!
This is a great small group tour with a great guy! Jim is a truely delightful young man, entertaining and knowledgeable. I did this tour the day before I flew out, otherwise I would have signed up for more of his tours! I have no hesitation in recommending Jim’s tours. You’ll have a fantastic day out!
Great trip with Jim and Patricija. Both are super knowledgeable about Vilnius, Trakai, Lithuania and the region as a whole and shared lots of interesting and real stories on our travels. It’s a small group tour (no more than 5-7 people) so it’s easy to ask questions and by the end of the trip, it feels like everyone is friends. You’re given plenty of time to look around Trakai Castle and Jim and Patricija went out of their way to show us other sites close by (The Hill of Angels) as well as key sites in Vilnius on our drive out and back in again. I highly recommend this trip because of the personable nature of the tour leaders and am gutted I’m not in town to do some of their other trips! THANK YOU JIM AND PATRICIJA!
We joined Jim for the trip to Trakai and Hill of Angels, and as a family group over 3 generations, we all enjoyed Jims perpective of history and life in Lithuania.
Unfortunately the weather was really terrible, however the tour was well worth braving the elements. The tour guide was very informative and gave a comprehensive history of Lithuania, from early times, through the Soviet occupation and gaining independence. We started with a tour of Vilnius which gave an insight into the history of the various districts. Trakai Castle was interesting, and although it is not a huge building it has several excellent exhibitions. Be prepared for lot of stairs. The route to the castle takes in 2 wooden footbridges, which give some great opportunities for photos. On the day of our visit we had to endure a monsoon, with the rain coming in sideways! Oh well, the luck of the draw when it comes to weather. We met with the rest of the group and the guide for lunch, which gave us time to interact with the various nationalities - a nice experience. On the way back to Vilnius we stopped at the Hill of Angels for a wander round the various statues. This was quite an experience and of course produced a lot more photos. Overall an excellent tour with a very informative guide. We would definitely do it again, but pray for the preceding weeks weather.
Awesome tour - highly recommended
Great guide & very comfortable drive. Lot of extremely interesting information on history & culture of the country. Highly recommended tour.
Very good guide, well planned and good organisation. We went to visit castle in Trakai and had linch afterwards. An extra hour in Trakai would have been gold, to vidit churches or just have an icecream by the water… Recommended!
Very enjoyable day, a lot of interesting information conveyed. Jim was very good at adjusting the pace to our needs.
This was such a great experience! Jim was fun and engaging but also allowed us to do our own thing. One of the things I look for in a tour is a mix of guided and self-exploration, and Jim hit that perfectly. It wasn't too long of a day, and the things we saw and did were fun and informative. We also had an opportunity to have lunch with Jim at a local restaurant, and we took advantage of that. It was nice to be able to chat with our whole group and with Jim and learn more about everyone.
Jim did such a good job! Very personable and remembered all of our names and interests. He was very informative and took us to many local spots to and from the main site. He answered any questions we had on lithuania and was overall a very friendly and kind person to lead the tour. I would highly recommend going on more of his tours. Great way to experience Lithuania!
Our host Jim was a pleasure. Had lots of knowledge of the country and had great tips for local cuisine.
Excellent tour with Jim - loads of information and insights into Lithuanian life and the surrounding areas. Good amount of time to wander round beautiful Trakai and the Hill of Angels - thanks Jim!
Jim strikes the balance just right in terms of sharing information, stories and insights on Lithuania’s history. He clearly adores this country and people. A great tour
Great time. Jim is a great tour guide, knowledgeable about Lithuania while maintaining a casual friendly vibe. We enjoyed Trakai castle, the scenery was beautiful, and the food good. We add Leo saw the hHilk of Angels which I personally loved. His tours are a definite recommend.
Jim is super personable and gives a you a lot of historical info about Lithuania. We enjoyed the castle, the scenery was beautiful, and the food was good. Jim gives you options on how to spend your time there with no pressure to stay with the group.
Such a great day out, Jim is a good guide filling the car journey with facts, explanation and good music. He also gives a good amount of time for yourself, which I appreciated so i could get plenty of pics! Reccomended!
Jim picked us up at Cathedral square. Gave us a history of Lithuania through the ages. Provided a bottle of water. Gave us a city tour and answered all questions. We visited the castle during the tour. It was €14 outside of the tour. It’s not worth the €14 as there’s not too much there and what is doesn’t always have an explanation for what is there. After the castle there’s a few nice small souvenir shops. We had a great day for it. Afterwards, Jim brought us too a local restaurant. We ate local cuisine and all enjoyed it. This is a small group tour max 8 people and Jim was a gentleman. Highly recommend him.
Jim was fantastic, a really enjoyable day out. Jim is very knowledgeable and provides enough facts without being overwhelming. Thanks Jim for a great day.
A fantastic, detailed and well-thought-out 4 hours of history, politics, culture, music and fun. Jim was super friendly from the off and provided us with a warm welcome and bottled water, always ensuring we were all happy and comfy. He showed us around Vilnius' old town and soviet areas before moving on to Trakai with constant, detailed, interesting narration along the way and even well-chosen songs interspersed along the way to illustrate the stories he was telling us. At Trakai we were given free time to explore and recommendations (we followed all of them, including the castle at an additional low price of ten euros) before we reconvened at a really popular restaurant where Jim guided us through the menu with descriptions and tips. It was lovely to all dine together, the food was tasty and good value for money and our guide ensured we could all take our leftovers home in doggy bags. On the return journey we saw the Hill of Angels and had free time to wander, and before Jim dropped us off, he made sure we all had further recommendations of where to eat, drink and explore. He even pledged to answer further questions on WhatsApp should we have them, which we later did with some walking tips. Jim was so entertaining and warm and personable and as a British native and outsider, so enthusiastic about Lithuania that it was hard not to feel the same way too! Highly recommended for a half day of exploring and fun.
The journey to Trakai was very interesting. Jim was very knowledgeable and gave an indepth insight into the complex history of Lithuania, interspersing it with humour and music. The castle itself was interesting and there was a lot to see, so worth a visit.
This is a great tour doing exactly what is advertised. Jim is a very rekaxed, flexible guide who gives you the freedom to explore at a nice pace. Whilst giving you good knowledge at tge appropriate times.
During one day, we wanted to see as much as possible from Lithuania and contacted Jim for consulting. He was very flexible and after some correspondence a private whole day trip from Vilnius was arranged by him, finally reaching to the unforgettable Hill of Crosses in the northern part. The long drives were comfortable and safe, and when we add that Jim is an enjoyable person, what more can anyone wish for one day in Lithuania :-)
We had an absolute blast with James in Trakai and the whole trip! It was 10 guys seeing Lithuania for the first time and it couldn't be more of a fun time. Easy to coordinate, flexible, informative, and fun. Would recommend!
James was an amazing guide, a very knowledgeable, kind, and professional person. I really recommend this trip.
We enjoyed a lot the tour, despite the weather Jim made the tour very informative and fun, including music, history, historical places. A must do if you are visiting the city :)
