AVOID. Booked a month earlier for a couple nights, then 3 days before we were told they had gone into overbooking and CANCELED our reservation without any other option. Stay clear
Everything is perfect, the location, the views, the rooms, the cleanliness in the rooms, kitchen, fridge, bedding, everything is good. Only bathrooms aren’t as clean, the toilet area is fine, one shower area is clean while the other has a bit of a mold. Overall 4/5. Only improvement is the bath room.
I have a mixed review about Pogo Hostel. My bus reached Vilnius at around 7:30 AM, and I arrived at the hostel between 8:00–8:30 AM. The hostel is in a prime location, right in the heart of Vilnius. which is definitely a big plus. When I arrived, the door was locked. Luckily, a few people were inside having food, and they opened the door for me. Otherwise, it would have been difficult since the reception operates only from 11 AM to 3PM. I had to wait until 11 AM, when a staff member arrived and gave me my room key. The common area is nice, and they have a kitchen available along with free tea and coffee, which I really appreciated. Now comes the interesting part during my stay: - First night: I was completely alone in my dorm (5 beds empty), which felt great. I could listen to music and talk to friends late at night without disturbing anyone. - Second night: Same situation 😅 still alone! - Third night: I saw a lady trying to check in, but there was no receptionist available, and new check-ins after 3 PM are not allowed, which felt quite inconvenient and unusual. Also, one important thing to note: if you have already booked in advance, the receptionist may leave your keys and towels at the reception. However, I’m not sure how consistent their communication is regarding door access codes. In my case, I didn’t receive any message maybe because I arrived early. It’s possible they send details to guests arriving later, but this should be clearer. Overall, I kind of had the whole room to myself for 3 nights, which was amazing personally. But at the same time, I found the reception timing very limited and not very helpful for travelers arriving at different times. Also, if you’re a solo traveler looking to meet new people and socialize, this hostel might not be the best choice, as it felt quite empty during my stay. However, if you’re someone who prefers peace, privacy, and a quiet environment, then this hostel is perfect for you. Because of this, I even considered changing hostels and interestingly, the other hostel I checked was fully occupied. So, I’m a bit confused, but I think a 3 out of 5 is a fair rating. The stay was comfortable, but the hostel really needs better reception availability and clearer communication (especially via WhatsApp or messages) for guests.
Best hostel I’ve stayed at in Vilnius (I’ve stayed in 4 different ones). Real backpackers hostel, there’s no one in the reception for the most of the day, people are really autonomous, it’s a very safe place and the location is great. I would only say that the old lady that checks the rooms for the check outs, could be a bit nicer. She woke me up because of a misunderstanding (my fault) and she was a bit tough. But she actually helped me after all. I really recommend it!
