Fantastic experience! If I could rate it higher I would. There were 4 of us so it was a very personal experience. All of our necessary gear was provided. Please wear ankle high boots & tall socks. We were there in Aug, it was sunny & we did not need heavy jackets or many layers (not nearly as cold as expected). Our guide Evan, was amazing!! He was not only very informative, he was funny, kind and let us decide our pace & how far we wanted to go. We loved EVERY minute of this hike!

Our guide (Evangelos) was the best! We did an amazing hike before reaching the glacier. Before entering and throughout the hike he explained thoroughly the safety rules and also the do's and dont's. We followed an amazing trail, did many activities at the glacier and learned a lot about the physics behind. We would definitely recommend this experience!

The Solheimajokull Glacier Hike with Evan was FABULOUS and a not-to-miss experience. Evan is a highly experienced guide who, even after all of these years, is still in love with the grandeur and beauty of the glacier. With the recent shutdown of the "easy" access to the glacier, I was a bit nervous about the more "moderate" 45-minute hike - but it was gorgeous and truly added to the experience. My husband and I are in our mid-50s and in decent shape, but I shattered my ankle about 5 years ago in a biking accident, and even after 5 surgeries, I don't have full range of motion. Evan was super helpful on the steep downward portions (I'm okay going uphill, but I struggle going downhill), and he even loaned me his walking stick to help me stabilize my footing. This is the only excursion we did in Iceland where we felt like we underpaid.

Evangelos was an outstanding tour guide for our family. We were first-time glacier hikers but he made us feel very safe and comfortable.

Vaggelis is an amazing guide, very relaxed but also safety oriented. We did a long hike on the glacier including some climbing with ropes, we saw how an ice screw works and heard interesting facts about the ice and the volcano. Definitely recommend!

This was already recommended from a friend, but we were still not prepared for how AMAZING it would end up being. Vaggelis (the guide) really took the extra step to make this super interesting around the glacier and take us to places the other tours didn't go! A person that enjoys what he is doing!

We had a terrific glacier hike with Evangelos. We had to reschedule because of the weather (very strong winds and rain) and Hyperborea was very accommodating- choice of refund or reschedule to what was convenient for us. The tour ended up being just the three of us and Evangelos. He was able to completely tailor the hike for us. We saw more than most of the other large groups we passed near the start and end of our hike, and we even did a little “climbing”. Evangelos was very knowledgeable about the glacier and pointed out interesting features and sights. Overall an amazing experience, I fully recommend Hyperborea for guided glacier hikes!

It is safe to say that climbing on Solheimajokull Glacier was probably the best experience we had in Iceland! Especially Vaggelis, the owner and tour guy is very fun and inspiring for everyone! We felt totally safe all the time during the hike because Vaggelis is very communicative and a well organised tour guide. It is pretty clear that he loves his work! Evan has to be the best tour guide out there! He was friendly, knowledgeable, and very in tune with the capabilities of his group. Not to mention the group was nice and small which gives you the opportunity to see all that’s out there on the glacier. Easily the best experience we could have asked for.

WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! We did the glacier with Hyperborea and it was absolutely incredible. Vaggelis, our guide was knowledgeable, educational and very fun throughout the tour. Our yoga retreat group did an unforgettable day trip to hike Sólheimajökull. Evangelos was responsive via email and flexible with scheduling. On the day of the trip, the drive in his SUV was smooth, and Evan provided us with all the necessary glacier hiking equipment and taught us how to use them. The weather was perfect, the views were breathtaking, and it was definitely something that will be memorable for a lifetime!

This was an amazing tour! We were very close to booking with the larger arctic adventure agency but decided to go for a smaller and more personal tour and it could not have been a better decision. We were able to choose to go on extra adventures with more difficult walks and climbs. In our 4 hours we went to 3 different climbing spots all with amazing views and increased difficulty at our discretion. Tour guide was very nice and helpful. This felt like a pretty dangerous hike but we were given proper safety equipment and instructions and I felt 100% safe the entire time. 10/10 would recommend, this is a once in a lifetime type of experience. We were so glad that we booked a tour with Evangelos from Hyperborea tours. He took our family of four (2 parents, 2 teenagers) to parts of the glacier that the big tour groups weren't able to go to. He catered to our interests and experience and even belayed us down into one of the large crevices to see an ice tunnel. Evangelos knew the glacier extremely well, had new high-quality equipment, and made us feel safe the whole time. We highly recommend his tour for this once in a lifetime experience.
