it was fantastic and our guides were attentive and respectful of our riding abilities. it was a beautiful and unique experience!

Had the best experience with Vik Horse Adventures! The horses were cared for so well, the instructions for riding were clear and the ride paired with the beach and Icelandic landscape was 10/10! The staff were super friendly and offered support if required. We got to enjoy a walk along the water, photos and even got to try to tolt. Was initially worried it may be too beginner friendly as we’ve had experience on horses before but it was great and such a unique experience! So glad we committed to this!

Fantastic experience, clear guidance on riding the horse and felt well supported on the guided walk. Guides were super friendly and great to chat to. Horses were just stunning and so nice to ride, they all looked well looked after and the business was very professional. They checked in on you to either agree to go faster or split the group depending on preference which was great. Really enjoyed it all and loved the pictures.

Such a fun experience! Riding along the black sand beach with the ocean and mountains all around was unforgettable. The horses were great, and the guides were incredibly informative and kind, making us feel comfortable throughout the ride. The pace was perfect for taking in the scenery, and the views were absolutely stunning. Definitely worth it if you're visiting Vik.

It was perfect! Scenic view, gentle horses, lovely guides and you get to try toelt. The horses are well looked after and the guides love their job. We were also very lucky with the weather! Also liked the fact that the guides help you take photos. Much easier than trying to do selfies on a horse.

Staff was really friendly but it was raining outside so it felt a bit rushed as nobody wanted to be outside. Beautiful beach and would do again someday.

I was most looking forward to this out of everything on my trip, and it did not disappoint. If you have riding experience it will be a breeze, and the staff make it very accessible for those who don't have experience. The horses were so fun to to ride, the view on the beach is beautiful, and our guides (Wendla and Elishka - forgive any misspellings!) were so wonderful. My only complaint is that I wish the ride had been longer! Definitely a bucket list experience.

We were lucky enough for the sun to come out in the afternoon. Fenella was super friendly and informative she made the whole expirence! We got to take lots of photos and had time to take in the beautiful sunset. The whole experience felt like a dream.

We loved our tour with Vík Adventure! The staff were lovely, friendly, and kept chatting with us the whole time. They took great care during the instructions and always let us know what was going to happen next, which made us feel very safe. We really got to know our horses and their unique personalities. They also took great photographs for us! Highly recommend!

Great experience October 7 2026. Rode on the beach group of six. Very nice horses well taken care of and great guides. Van Len was particularly friendly and helpful. We got to tolt on the way back. Definitely recommend

The staff were great, the horses were very easy going, options to try different gallops, nice ride on the beach, saw a full rainbow while riding.

Because we were worried about the weather, we decided to change to an earlier time at the last minute. Luckily, there were still some spots available, so they could accommodate the change. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, and the horses were incredibly gentle and well-behaved. They even lined up by themselves and followed one another along the trail. We were so happy to have the chance to try a little trot as well, and overall, we really enjoyed the whole experience!

Absolutely loved this experience! Icelandic horses are so special and as my first horse riding experience I thoroughly enjoyed riding Flóki. It started to rain and we saw the most beautiful rainbow. Our guides were very friendly and sweet and helpful. Highly recommend a morning or evening ride!

We had a wonderful time riding the sweet Icelandic horses of the Vik Horse Adventure stables! The guides were extremely helpful, knowledgeable, confident and made us feel at ease. I have only ridden a handful of times and I felt very safe on this tour. The beach was beautiful. It was cold and rainy so recommend wearing lots of layers and appropriate raingear for riding. It was fun to try the tolt in the way back! Highly recommend this fun and adventurous activity in Vik.

Black Sand horseback riding was a beautiful experience. There were first time riders in our group as well as experienced riders. It is not an all out “do what you want” ride but rather a group experience. The horses are well cared for and very sweet. You do have an opportunity to experience the Icelandic sokk. Their personalities were unique and the tour guides were very knowledgeable and helpful.

Super cool. We ride horses on many other vacations but never Icelandic horses and their unique tolt gate. Glad to cross offf my bucket list. The horses were well behaved, and adorable - little crazy hair but what makes them so cute. The black beach is so unique.

We could not imagine our trip to Iceland without the excitement of this experience. The guides were so knowledgeable and patient. They told us how these revered Icelandic horses are protected and rested on vacations of their own. My horse Forseti - or president - was kind and a pleasure to spend time with. What a delight!

Was such a wonderful ride!! Though the weather was a little chilly, windy and rainy these horses are the hardest working sweetest animals!! We were so lucky to be able to still get to ride the beautiful black sand beach and experience Iceland at its finest! Highly recommended this incredible experience!!

This is a great way to see the beach and enjoy being on an Icelandic Horse for an hour. The horses are well-behaved and well-cared for, and the guides are friendly and knowledgeable. We stopped on the beach and they took pictures for everyone. I've read reviews complaining about the fact that you only walk. We have found this not to be true. There were three guides, in case some wanted to go faster (just for a few minutes, but we still got the experience of "tolting"), and other people wanted to stay back and go slower. If you are looking for a fast-paced long ride, find a private tour. I am an experienced rider and knew what the expectations were ahead of time, and was not disappointed. One other complaint I saw was that if you're late they do not wait for you. This is true. You need to get there 15 mintues early at a minimum to prepare. We left promptly at the top of the hour. If people are late, they are holding people up and they don't have the time for fitting a helmet and important instructions. I highly recommend Vik Horse Tour for a nice relaxing ride on the beautiful black sand beach.

The experience was awesome. The horses were well mannered and everyone working there seemed to know the horses different personalities and paired them with the best rider (based on skill and personality). I learned a good deal about Icelandic horses, got to see the Black Sand Beach and had a great experience. i highly recommend booking the latest time available to try and see the sunset.

We went out on a rainy windy day, the horses were steady and calm. The guides were amazing and supportive from start to finish. Wonderful experience!

Riding Icelandic ponies was a dream come true! The staff were very friendly, gave clear instructions for what to do and made all of us comfortable. The horses were so sweet and easy to ride! We even got to experience the Icelandic horse's tölt riding and that was so fun! It was cold and windy on the beach so my coat and waterproof fleece-lined pants were necessary and I stayed warm.

Wonderful experience. The staff was friendly and professional. I was solo and felt very comfortable! The horses are wonderful and riding out to the black sand shore was a true time to treasure!

This was a highlight of our trip and even though I have had limited exposure to horses and I’m in my late 50’s I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and felt that the instructions and guides were amazing

What an incredible horse riding opportunity. The guides were well informed, helpful and knowledgeable. They picked horses to fit your skill level. Guided us and made sure we were comfortable doing the Viking tolt…Iceland trot. Beautiful scenery and lots of Iceland lore. One of the best horse riding experiences I’ve had. Would absolutely recommend!

Very enjoyable time, had not been on a horse for many years. It took 10-15 mins to get settled on the horse but the guides were great. Really great experience.

It was one of my first times ever riding a horse and I was a bit nervous. The staff were amazing and made me feel so safe. They told everyone to only do what they felt comfortable with and put no pressure on anyone to try the tolt. (Although everyone chose to try it and I highly recommend!)

went with my brother while we were doing a camping trip around the golden circle, tour was a little short but very nice and staff were friendly and helpful, the beach and doing the trot after were very enjoyable, good times if you’re looking for something that doesn’t take too much time out of your day!

We had the best time on this tour! The staff was very knowledgeable, experienced, and made it easy to feel comfortable. We all had basic riding experience (some more than others) and never felt uncomfortable. The horses are so sweet! Beautiful views along the black sand beach, wish we could have "tolted" a little more. Overall, great experience and would go again!

I had a wonderful time on this ride. It is very chill - out and back along the beach, with a stop for photos (which is a great souvenir). I got to ride Thor, who was lovely, and this was my first time experiencing the tolt gait, which was very unique! If you’re a beginner and only want to walk, there is an option for that too. My guide was lovely, we had a great chat about life (didn’t catch her name unfortunately), and the horses all appeared very well cared for. I do wish there was a longer/more advanced option offered as I would have opted for that, but the black beach scenery on horseback was great even for the short ride.

We made a loop around the beach, flat easy walking. The riders that wanted to tolt (their smooth trot) were taken off in one direction. The tolt is very smooth to ride.. The ponies are very good and the staff is excellent with matching us up with ponies.

Super nice experience. Horses are well taken care of. Before leaving we received clear explanations and during the tour we are accompanied by 3 monitors. Highly recommended place!

Excellent experience for beginners. Very easy and overall smooth process. This is for beginners though as they don’t really let you do your own thing and you have to follow strict rules from the guides. The horses just follow each other in a straight line because that’s how they live trained them. I wish they would allow you to have your phones out more but I guess they don’t want you dropping them.
