2-hour Black Sand Beach Buggy Tour From Hella

By far one of the most outstanding experiences of our Iceland adventures! Jonas is an exceptional tour guide...knowledgeable, humorous and engaging. We were the only people on this massive, gorgeous black sand beach. The journey to get there was fun and exciting while traversing deep muddy puddles, rivers, dunes and more. The coffee and donuts were such a nice treat while looking out at the expansiveness of the ocean. Do not hesitate to book this tour!!!

An amazing experience riding on the black sand beach next to the crashing waves. Yonas was a great guide, shared lots of knowledge of Iceland. We saw a whale bone, a shipwrecked cargo ship, beautiful views and a surprise waterfall. Highly recommend! So much fun on the sand

We had a great time on our buggy tour. The guide was very knowledgeable and told us a lot about the history of the area. He didn't rush us, and even treated us to some hot chocolate and cookies. I would highly recommend this tour!

Booked this experience after reading the reviews, as my son is a petrol head and loves any driving experiences. Did not disappoint!! Was great fun and really interesting. Had the black sand beach to ourselves. Beautiful low sun on a perfect late May evening. Loads of birds and seals. Expensive, but would highly recommend. Be aware you don't get a buggy each though (2 seater or 4 seater buggies).

This buggy tour was truly one of the best! You go to a beautiful black sand beach and get some amazing pictures. The guide is amazing and very friendly as well

Wow what a great excursion! Started off with a warm welcome, then got set up with all the essential gear and explanation on how the buggy operates. The thrill of driving through town and then the trails in an open air buggy was so much fun in March weather. But then we finally reached the black sand beaches and what a sight! Heavy waves crashing in the distance along with black sand as far as the eye could see. We were the only ones on the beach that day and we drove for almost an hour before our guide stopped for photos and shared Icelandic treats and hot chocolate / coffee with us. Very accommodating guide and friendly demeanor throughout made it comfortable and memorable.

Worth every penny. Our guide was amazing. He answered our questions, shared amazing stories, and showed us a good time.

Our favorite experience in Iceland! It was so cool. The guide was awesome. We loved it!!!!!! The wet suits are so nice and warm, the ATVs are awesome and he was ready to go when we got there! It was amazing!!!! Side note- His dog Casper is so cute!

Buggies were top of the line. Owner was waiting and ready to go when we arrive. He had all of the necessary equipment to keep us protected and warm as it was raining and windy. It was a beautiful ride and gave us another perspective of the incredible landscape of Iceland that we could have not seen otherwise. We made several stops along the way to learn more about the area and the history. We also had hot chocolate and a delicious Icelandic treat along the shore. We highly recommend you add this experience to your Iceland itinerary--you won't be disappointed.

Probably our favorite highlight of the trip. Worth every penny - The tour guide Jonas was so personable and took us to the most amazing spots during the ride. Such fun & unique experience that capped off the perfect vacation. Will definitely be doing this again - highly recommend

This was by far one of the coolest experiences in Iceland that I’ve had (3rd trip). I highly recommend making this a part of your adventure to Iceland. Seeing the sunset at the black sand beach was nothing short of incredible!

Absolutely one of the best tours we've had in all of our travels. This was like having a friend who is local, show you all the secret spots they take their family and friends...Jonas was truly an excellent tour guide. He went out of his way to take us to all the best sites including a hidden waterfall accessible only by atv, historical turf houses, through steams, meadows and grasslands, all the while telling of the history and culture at every stop. The highlight of the trip was a stop and short hike to a cliffside cave where we sat down to a lunch that he had prepared for us of what other than icelandic grilled pylsa with Pylsusinnep and remoulade (hot dogs). What an amazing experience!

Amazing time! If you're on the fence, do it. You won't regret it - trust me. Our tour guide was great and so patient and thoughtful. The views were unmatched.

Awesome tour with a beautiful drive to the secluded beach alongside the river. Views of the volcano were amazing and the knowledge and history parts were very cool. The beach is so remote there is no one else there. I would highly recommend.

A great adrenaline filled afternoon for everyone. Jonas was a fantastic guide and raconteur. The archery was slightly random but fun. A must do afternoon away from waterfalls and nature!

This excursion was absolutely phenomenal. The ride to and from the beach along the river was so pretty and the beach itself was indescribable. The tour guide let us have fun and was also very knowledgeable about the area and what we saw. There was a couple of extra stops along the trip that was also just so fun. I still can't believer that we were the only ones on the beach. It was fantastic.

We’ve never done anything like this and we are so glad that we did! It was booked by someone else so we didn’t know what to expect. The few km drive to the beach was fast and fun (we got to drive through a part of the river that wasn’t there the day before). When we got to the beach we were awestruck. Even on a cloudy day the power of the ocean and the beautiful beach was amazing. We were the only ones there! Can’t thank enough our agent for setting it up and Jonas for the great conversation and being an excellent guide.

This was one of our favorite excursions while we were in Iceland! You are in the buggy a lot and driving around the beach is a blast. We didn't expect some of the surprise stops that we made but each one was different and made the trip that much better. We would highly recommend!

This was an amazing experience! First time on a buggy with my boyfriend, and we had so much fun! We had the best instructor! It was not just a buggy tour, we learned so much from him about the history of Iceland, including wonderful sight seeing and so much more! We even got to shoot with a bow and arrow on the famous black beach! SOOOO AMAZING!! Afterwards he recommended that we ate at the hotel near where he lives, where they serve really good salmon! This 2 hour trip was just amazing. Top of the line Polaris buggies, great paths to the black sand beach with amazingly powerful waves which you can't get to on a normal car. Great hospitality from Fjalar our guide and just overall a speechless moment we created today. I will definitely go again and recommend this to anyone in search for something different. We saw a seal and a fox and got to shoot from a bow got hot coco and kleinur. 10 stars out of 5 for sure. :)

We managed to book this tour last minute on our last full day of our Honeymoon, and we were so thrilled we did. Despite an oncoming sandstorm on the black sand beaches Fjalar was committed to getting us close as was safe, and making the entire tour extremely fun and exciting. It felt like much longer than it was because we saw and did so much. There were a few charming surprises along the way that made it truly special. Full credit to Fjalar, who made this spectacular. It was like playing around in super cool buggies with an old friend, with really cool ideas, and lots of super interesting local knowledge. He gave us some great local recommendations after the tour as well. Honestly i just can't reccomend this tour enough. It took our trip to the next level and we are still buzzing about it.
