Matias speaks he wast English and is very proud of being 4th generation Viennese. He took us through the city at night but the tour was quite unremarkable for such a beautiful and historic city. He also said some quite unbelievable things such as that there is no crime in the city as the poor are paid generously by the government, the schools are now 50% Muslim and the girls wear hijabs to rebel as they know the locals don’t like it. A few people asked him for restaurant recommendations but he said he didn’t want to tell them as he doesn’t his favourite places to fill up with tourists! I’m sure Prime has some good guides, but unfortunately Matias isn’t one of them.
Thank you Christina for a wonderfully informative, well-paced and excellently delivered tour this afternoon. The content was perfectly pitched to be insightful, engaging and entertaining. I learnt so many new things about Austrian history and Viennese culture. A well balanced and highly enjoyable tour. It was a genuine pleasure to be shown round the city by you - would HIGHLY reccomend this 2 hour tour - thank you so much!
Christina was the perfect guide, interesting, informed, easy to understand and fun. Best two hours in Vienna. It was really hot and she made sure we were in the shade and introduced us to the Vienna free water system form the mountains. You pay what you feel it's worth, so we paid the commercial rate for paid tours, good value.
I had a great tour this morning with Christina. She not only knows a lot aboit Wien's history, but she's also such an awesome performer! Also the tour's pace, the stops, the stories were just about right for a holiday into to Vienna. I learned a lot and had a splendid time :)
Our guide Cristina was fantastic. No place in the Spanish tour we took it in English. Easy to understand even for non english speakers. She knows plenty of anecdotes to complete his fantastic explanation of the historical events and information about the city. At the end of the walk, she gave us important information about the city live (restaurants, events...) Great experience.
Katherina was our guide, and she was terrific. She asked at the beginning of the tour if anyone had special interest because she’d point out items of that interest. Her English was flawless. The length was just right. We highly recommend Katherina. We did learn that this is a “free” tour that is sold by TripAdvsior. That felt disingenuous on the part of TripAdvisor/Viator.
Guide was great. But it seems that it’s a free tour, I don’t why they charge money before arriving..
Very informative and relaxed. This is something we always try to do on our first or second day traveling as you can pick up so many hints and tips about a city and this tour was great. Our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about her city and what a beautiful city it is.
Excellent value, as an introduction to Vienna on our first day, and to get our bearings. Our guide Nora was very informative, and proud of the city although not a local. she had lots of antidotes and social comments.
Had an incredible time, our guide Katarina was super knowledgeable and fun! Definitely learned a great amount while walking, would highly recommend!
We had a great introductory tour to the historical Centre of Vienna, led by Christina Graf. She was so knowledgeable and entertaining. She welcomed questions and was thoroughly engaged with everybody in the group.
Kathi was fantastic! Highly enjoyed our walking tour with her. Great way to learn some history and get introduced to the city.
Fantastic-Christina was amazing - very knowledgeable, fun and we really enjoyed the experience- thank you.
My wife and I joined the walking tour in Vienna, last-minute. Katharina was very sympathetic, providing a welcoming atmosphere to the group. She was to the point and practical, with great advice about different options in the city. Obviously someone who has lived in the city for a long time: With a lot of knowledge about its history, but also what is currently playing in the opera or displayed in the musea.
Our tour guide was very good. Friendly, informed and helpful with questions. Only comment I wish to make is he brought up this was a free tour and dependent on tips. I paid Viator $25 for the tour. I’ve been on “free tours many times as an intro to a new city. . These “free tours” in my experiences are generally $4-5 for administrative fees. This was not so I didn’t consider free. I was happy to tip my tour guide as he make the experience positive for the group but generally tip much more when actually “semi free”.
Email to change our tour time was not seen until too late so we turned up as planned. No-one else did! A phone call or text would have been more helpful. Very disappointing that more effort was not made to contact us regarding a change to our booking, which had previously been confirmed. The new time was totally unsuitable for us as we were only staying in Vienna for 24 hours and wanted to use the tour to plan the rest of our visit
Kristina was great. She was very knowledgeable and was open to answering all of our questions! Very patient with children and accommodating needs of the group. We learned so many history, facts, places we want to come back and visit, and food recommendations! 5/5
We took the walking tour of the highlights around Vienna with Tobias. Tobias is very proud, passionate and knowledgeable of Vienna and offered significant insights into the history of the city. He is personable and told interesting stories intertwined with historical facts. He even offered two substantial lists at the end of the tour with food and activity recommendations around Vienna to help inform the rest of our visit. We would highly recommend the walking tour with Tobias, especially at the beginning of your trip to learn more about Vienna and help plan the rest of your trip!
A very informative experience. We learnt so much about the history of Vienna and Christina was brilliant in her knowledge and communication style. All travellers and history buffs should do this tour. Highly recommend!
Our guide, Michael, gave us a great orientation to Vienna on our first day here-- highly recommend. He is a fantastic storyteller, the time flew by, we learned more history of the Hapsburgs and Vienna, and have recommendations for the rest of our stay. Thank you!
Though the weather wasn’t so good Josef made it all really worthwhile ! A true mine of information and passionate about Austrian history
Great! Full with interesting informations. Our guide Katharina was very interesting! It took 2 hours but time just flew away.
Christina was a great guide! I learned a lot about Vienna and got great recommendations. Very funny and informative and everyone left happy.
We did the Historic Walking tour with Tobias, his knowledge is incredible and his passion for his city is evident. We covered a lot in 2hours and he gave amazing recommendations for places to see, eat and drink which was super appreciated! Myself and my sister joined the tour with a group size of maybe 20, it was easy to follow and it wasn’t too bad walking wise if you struggle to walk a lot. Thank you Tobias, would definitely recommend!
I recently joined a walking tour in Vienna organized by Prime Tour, focused on the city’s history in the 20th century, and it was absolutely outstanding. Our guide, Kristina, was exceptionally knowledgeable and engaging. She provided a fascinating and well-balanced view of Vienna’s cultural and political atmosphere during that period. Kristina’s insights into Austria’s role and responsibility during the Nazi era, as well as its path to neutrality and independence after World War II, were both thought-provoking and deeply moving. She also highlighted several landmarks that brought this history vividly to life. We were deeply impressed by the tour and Kristina’s passion for her subject. It was one of the best guided tours we’ve ever taken, and we will definitely join another Prime Tour on our next visit to Vienna.
Review for Vienna 1900 Walking Tour with Kristina I had the pleasure of joining the Vienna 1900 walking tour with Kristina, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. Kristina is incredibly knowledgeable—not only about Vienna’s rich history but also about the cultural, political, and artistic movements that shaped the city at the turn of the 20th century. What really set this tour apart was Kristina's ability to present complex topics in a clear, intelligent, and engaging way. Her storytelling was both informative and entertaining, effortlessly weaving together facts, anecdotes, and insights that brought the era to life. Whether you’re a history buff, an art lover, or simply curious about Vienna’s past, this tour offers a fascinating look into one of the city’s most vibrant and transformative periods. I highly recommend it—and especially Kristina as a guide. She’s fantastic.
We did the free evening walking tour of Vienna with Christopher. He was such an amazing guide, one of the best tours I’ve been on, I learned so much!!
Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of Vienna and the area. If I had booked a historical tour I would have given him a good review. However, this was supposed to be a city tour. He gave us almost no information about the buildings and sights of Vienna.
He focused more on the regions history than the buildings/churches in Vienna. Also we paid about $23/person via Viator while others enroled in a free tour. Not sure how that worked.
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the Austrian culture. He shared some very interesting history, his local stories, and even gave us some recommendations. We walked through Hofberg Palace and found out The Holy Lance and Crown Jewels are housed there.
This is a wonderful tour. Plan 2 hrs, although the ticket says 1. Great overview of highlights of Vienna, clear English, and lots of historical context from the Hapsburgs to napoleon to Hitler and the modern day. Start your time in Vienna with this tour, and then you can see what appeals to you and how you want to spend the rest of your time here.
Christina, who was our guide was marvelous, knowledge, interesting and with good sense of humor. She put the history and architecture in prospective in an enjoyable presentation.she was warm and very friendly. A great tour a great guide. Highly recommend
We took the walking tour of Central Vienna with Katharina. What an exceptional guide! She was clear, knowledgeable, friendly comma and could grab that tension of a rather large group without difficulty. We have been on such tours in many cities and this is one of the best ones we've been on. I highly recommend it.
Absolutely phenomenal tour with Katharina. Vienna seems to have so many invisible strings with places all over the world, influencing western culture in ways we never even think about. The city is vast and a little overwhelming but this tour totally brought it to life for us. Katharina kept a perfect pace with so many useful and interesting pieces of information and good tips. It was fantastic having a local share their love of their city.
I was sceptical of the concept of a "free tour" but our guide, Roderick, was really great. Very knowledgeable and engaging. It was a fantastic way to get an overview of the city.
The best part of this tour is that we were able to do it in the evening after we arrived in Vienna. It helped us get our bearings and figure out some places we wanted to visit later in our stay. For example, we visited the Leopold Museum, because our guide mentioned it. The guide (I forget his name...) was a Vienna native and very animated. He tried to be funny, but honestly, most of his humor didn't land with us. He provided some good general history of the Hapsburg family and empire, which was helpful as we explored the city further on our own.
5/5 A very interesting two hours! Key sites explored in a 2 hour wobble around the centre of Wien. Christina was an excellent tour guide that took us to a number of sites and explained their significance in an entertaining way.
Well informed guide. Tour provided a solid overview of Vienna’s “old city” and gave me a sense of what to follow up on. Solid introduction to experiencing Vienna.
We joined this walking tour through a third-party agency in our home country - makemytrip.com. We were charged upfront and not told that this was actually a free walking tour, meaning we had no idea that tipping was the main form of payment for the guide until the very end. While the tour itself was decent, the experience was completely overshadowed by how the guide behaved when it ended. When we offered a tip, modest, but given sincerely. He loudly criticised us, saying something like “You’re three people and this isn’t even enough for a coffee.” It was 5€, because we thought we had already paid for the tour. Furthermore, this was said in front of a group of people and left us embarrassed and uncomfortable - also seemed like this was his objective. This was meant to be a nice family experience during a short visit with my parents, and instead it became an upsetting moment. We would have appreciated a respectful explanation about the tipping expectations, not public shaming. We were not aware of the local norms or that this was a “name-your-price” model, and it felt like a pressure-filled trap rather than a hospitality-based experience. We want the company to know: tips are meant to be voluntary and based on the quality of the service, not demanded. The guide’s attitude was unprofessional and disappointing.
The guide for the English language tour did not show up and there was no communication to explain why or to apologise. Very unprofessional.
Ricky, our guide was extremely friendly, well informed and a great communicator. He fielded lots of questions and was able to give extra background and insight beyond the curriculum of his tour. Apart from the knowledge and historical significance of the various sites along the way it’s a great way to see the city and great to help you find your own way around later at your leisure. This was a pay-what-you-like tour and well worth the money I gave him.
Absolutely excellent walking tour this morning with Katharina. Very knowledgeable and interesting guide. I would highly recommend.
Very good walking tour. Gundi (hopefully spelt correctly) managed to keep our attention for over 2 hours. Well balanced and engaging tour - mixture of facts interspersed with some funny and interesting stories. All delivered clearly and easy to hear despite it being a large group of around 30 people. Fascinating and humorous insights into the Viennese thinking.
We went on the Old Vienna City tour with Caterina as our guide. She was fantastic - thoroughly knowledgeable, amusing and an all round first rate guide. She took us round places we hadn’t seen on our walks round the city; explained their history and educated us. I would recommend taking this tour on the first day of the trip to Vienna. If you’re lucky enough to have Caterina as your guide not only will you see places to visit later but also get cultural and culinary suggestions to follow up .
We did the Prime Tours free walking tour of Vienna with Katharina (we had booked via Sandemans). We were very impressed as the tour lasted over 2 hours with a lot of historical context. Key bits included: 1. Monument agsinst war and fascism 2. View of Staatsopera by Albertina Museum (modern art) and old coffee house/hotel (Hotel Sacher). 3. View of lovely winter palace (Hofburg Palace) of the Habsburgs and general history of the family. 4. Briefly seeing Museum Quarter and Maria-Theresian Platz before going through the archway and Heldenplatz (heroes square) which included the balcony of the Hofburg palace where Hitler famously announced Anschluss. 5. Passed by the Sisi (Empress) museum and then went to Michaelplatz and saw the Spanish Riding School horses, stoped by Neurmarket, learning of food origins, coffee culture including original Frauenhuber, Mozart church (Deutschordenskirche) and ending at the impressive St Stephens Cathedral. Katharina was a witty, open and knowledgable guide who also gave good food tips at the end. A very pleasant experience!
I went on the free walking tour of Vienna and it was excellent! Katerina, our guide, was very knowledgeable, funny, and helpful. She made the tour interesting by sharing lots of information about Vienna's history, as well as, current political and social issues. I highly recommend this tour and guide!
Fab job by Ricky! Couldn’t have been a better tour with all the facts and jokes ! Had a great time learning about the city and its rich history. Highly recommend!
We joined a tour with Christina. The tour was fabulous! Kristina was fascinating, guided professionally, with a lot of knowledge about the history of the city, and with a lot of humor. We had a great time and learned a lot about Vienna
Stephan our tour guide was highly informative, humorous and knowledgeable. His passion for Vienna filtered on to our whole group. Keep up the good work Stephan
