The Museum of Fine Arts / Arts History Musuem developed from the art collections of the royal House of Habsburg. The collection of the picture gallery is one of the largest and most important of its kind in the world today. Among the other highlights in the Picture Gallery are its holdings of pictures by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, which are unique worldwide, as well as masterpieces by Vermeer, Rembrandt, Raphael, Caravaggio, Velázquez and Italian Baroque painters.
The Natural History Museum origins date back to the imperial collections of the 18th century. "Dedicated to the kingdom of nature and its exploration", the building, exhibitions and collections form a total work of art with a unique atmosphere.
We cross the Ringstraße. The Ringstraße is a circular grand boulevard that serves as a road around the historic central part of Vienna.
Palace gate. When Napoleon came along in 1809, he did serious damage to the city walls. Between 1821-1824 they built a new gate for the Hofburg, which is known as the Burgtor; it is the only remaining gate of the city’s walls.
Historic Heldenplatz (Heros Place), once planned as an extensive imperial forum, is dominated by the monumental equestrian statues of Prince Eugen and Archduke Karl. This spot affords the best view of the Imperial Palace as well as the adjacent Volksgarten.
The Imperial Palace, which until 1918 was inhabited by the imperial family houses today the office of the Federal President as well as an important congress centre and numerous art collections.
The imperial palace (Hofburg) was originally a castle built in the thirteenth century, which was extended to a splendid residence in accordance with the increasing power of the Habsburgs and the expansion of their realm.
Gothic Imperial Chapel, where the Vienna Boys’ Choir performs during High Mass on Sunday, is a remnant of the Imperial Palace during the Middle Ages.

The Palm House in the Burggarten. The Butterfly House in the center of the town.
The Graphic Art Collection of the ALBERTINA Museum offers a truly panoramic survey of art: founded in 1776 by Duke Albert of Saxe-Teschen, this collection now contains over one million drawings and prints from the late Gothic to the present. From Michelangelo and Dürer to Rembrandt and Rubens, and from Klimt and Schiele to Picasso on to Richter and Lassnig, the ALBERTINA Museum’s collection affords a rich overview of 600 years of art history. Due to their light-sensitivity, the museum’s masterpieces cannot be put on permanent display. For this reason, we show you these works in accordance with strict conservation standards as part of our special exhibitions.

Great small group walking tour of Vienna with Maria. Good combination of history, architecture and politics.
Great way to get familiar with a new town. Helped to find all the areas I wanted to explore later during my stay.
Great tour guide working independently by herself. Good explanations of what we are seeing and a good sense of humor. If you are of drinking age, you’ll get the full tour experience with Maria!
Awesome tour. Very informational but also fun. The guide was amazing. Highly recommend to anyone visit Vienna.
Maria is the best! Enthusiastic, knowledgeable, entertaining. Really enjoyed our small group tour with her!
Maria was knowledgeable, engaging and enthusiastic. She gave us many valuable insights on where to go and what to see during our short time in the city. Her English is perfect! Thoroughly recommend Maria if you are planning a small escorted tour .
We had a wonderful tour! Our guide was very knowledgeable about both history and great places to eat/drink. She gave us tons of facts and tons of tips. Overall a very interesting tour.
It was a very engaging tour, our guide was excellent in anticipating the groups needs, shade at all stopping points. Water breaks, it was 30 degrees. Apart from her deep knowledge of the history of Vienna/ Austria, she was funny and very friendly. I highly recommend her.
Friendly Knowledgable Interactive
It was a wonderful tour. Maria was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We would recommend her to anyone.
Maria was a wonderful tour guide. She gave us a lot of history of Vienna and also provided local candy to keep up our energy!
It was a fantastic walking tour with a very energetic guide!! She was friendly and clearly loves her job.
Amazingly friendly and knowledgeable guide. Highly recommend this tour. Lots of history mixed in with stories and pop culture.
Maria was amazing. The tour was informative and a lot of fun. It was so helpful to orient us and help us understand more about such a beautiful city and its culture. Maria was very helpful with recommendations to enjoy in the city, too
This was a lovely walking tour, all the highlights with some surprises mixed in. She is so knowledgeable and passionate. We thoroughly enjoyed her and the small setting.
This was such an informative tour! Maria our tour guide was so friendly and knew so much about the beautiful city of Vienna! She told us so much about the history of the city, taking us to all the interesting places and her timing was absolutely perfect at the Spanish horses school as they walked them out right in front of us! A great start to our holiday, I would definitely recommend this tour.
An excellent amusing tour delivered with humour and enthusiasm. Thank you Maria for such an informative introduction to Vienna.
Maria was a wonderful guide. In addition to an excellent tour, she brought extras (local beverages and candy to taste). Her love and enthusiasm and expertise of Vienna clearly showed.
Knowledgeable, friendly, outgoing. Gave Recommendations for doing as locals. Would highly recommend.
Slow paced walk in the city with some story telling we have forgotten after we came back home. The city is beautiful but something was missing, maybe the warmth of the locals? They charge you for everything, even for the tap water and the toilet. Long lines, you need to wait for hours in the cold. Wonder how guides can be proud of the mentality of the people...
We enjoyed our walk in the city with our guide who was friendly and knowledgeable. Quite cold in December though, and the city overcrowded. Next time we will visit when warmer.
We took this tour with Maria on our first full day in Vienna and it was a very helpful start to our trip. She was friendly and energetic, shared just the right amount of Vienna and Austrian history to help us understand our surroundings and the culture without boring the teenagers. Lastly, we benefitted from great restaurant and coffee shop tips that helped us throughout our trip.
Too much information at each corner, can feel a bit stressful if you dont know history so well. The tour was well paced and we finished on time.
Our guide Kim was very smart and cool. Also the first two bars are the best cause it feels like you’re drinking at someone’s house.
The guide was very thorough and detailed. She also answered questions and her knowledge was impressive. It was a wonderful experience.
This tour was absolutely wonderful! Maria not only showed us the highlights of beautiful Vienna, but she added tips that locals know to help us enjoy our time in Vienna even more, restaurants, the Christmas Markets, districts etc. Her genuine warmth was so appreciated, she obviously loves her city and showing it to travellers. Thank you Maria!!
This tour is a great introduction to Vienna. Maria is an excellent tour guide. So knowledgeable and passionate about Vienna. She also gave us a few recommendations where to eat that the locals go to. Beisl where we tried Wiener schnitzel. Figolettas for great Italian food. Oh and the Bitzinger Wurstelstand for brats.
Awesome guide ! Very knowledgeable and appreciate the fact she was a local. Knew lots of history which I loved . Would do again great way to gain quick knowledge of the city!
This is an excellent walking trip with Maria. We have done many in Europe but this was one of the best. Maria is such a nice friendly person and her knowledge as a former Vienna history student and Vienna resident must be second to none. She speaks great English having stayed in Scotland for 3 years and has a good loud (friendly) voice which is easy to hear and understand. The group size was 9 which was very good. Five Dutch, two Canadians and us, perfect. Maria says she does not have groups of more than 10 so all can be involved and hear well. She was 20 minutes early at the meeting point and easy to find. The walking tour covered the main historical centre and many hidden gems and was well paced and never boring. She had pictures to add background. She also advised on places to eat that the locals go to, the best Christmas markets with a map and advice on other places to go. You just had to ask and she seemed to know everything whether to do with the tour and sites, history or Vienna in general. She also brought along homemade punch in a flask which was lovely and warm along with some local chocolates. The tour started at 10am and ended close to 12.30 at St Stephens cathedral. We did finally catch her out as the only thing she didn’t know was about the hit song Vienna by the band Ultravox who filmed some of the video in Vienna. By chance we happened to see her the next day and she had read up on it and said she would add it to her tour! She then gave us some more advice for our day ahead. Wonderful. If you plan to do a walking tour in Vienna we would highly recommend this one with Maria.
I can't believe how lucky I am that from all the offerings online, I found Maria's tours! She is an incredible guide, great storyteller, and true host of Vienna. Before our tour she sent a few recommendations and throughout our time together she made more great recommendations - all of which we followed and loved. She really brought the history and the city to life for our group. This price point is a steal for this experience - other guides are charging the same so that you can be a part of a large herd of people and miss half the stories. Book this tour!!!
Maria is a GREAT guide. She knew so much history and told it in a fun way, with good stories. She is passionate about being a tour guide. DEFINITELY book a small group tour ( there was 9 of us). Just the right amount to be able to hear her and see her illustration book!
Maria was very nice and great human approach ! The group was limited to 10 so very enjoyable .... thank you !
Thank you so much for a very good trip. We are gratefull for all the tips and nice spots you showed us. Ulla and Björn from Sweden.
Maria was very knowledgeable, engaging and personable. She was great at answering our questions and adapting the tour to what we wanted to know about. She went above and beyond in delivering a local experience, and we’d definitely recommend her tour!

Excellent guide. Knowledgeable Was able to give information about things not even part of your. Spoke English clearly. Easy to meet up with.
From the moment we meet Maria we know we were going to have a good time. She gave each of us such a warm welcome. As this is a small group tour Maria takes you through a journey though history sharing her vast knowledge, she really encourages question too. It was a relaxed tour even though we saw so much and visited so many places. She also recommended great places to eat..
Maria was our guide and was perfect. Fantastic knowledge of the city, found superb viewpoints and kept it fun. Thank you.
Maria is a wonderful and very knowledgeable tour guide. She presented the tour in a captivating way, that kept our small group of 6 fully engaged. She was flexible and gave us extra minutes to take pictures when we needed to. She also provided tips on places to eat local dishes in Vienna. I highly recommend this tour.
An absolute MUST do Walking Tour! Maria is the perfect tour guide. Personable, friendly, funny and incredibly knowledgeable. She makes the history of Central Vienna come alive with excellent and entertaining storytelling. Great recommendations for what to do during the rest of our stay. I give this tour my highest recommendation! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Maria was amazing, very friendly and knowledgable, we learnt so much about the history of Vienna and would highly recommend
Without a doubt, you should take this tour first before any other activity. This tour operator was knowledgeable and fun. I loved my time and we even had the Lipizzaner Stallions cross our path!! Just loved our tour guide!!
The tour is comfortably paced while being action packed. We learned a lot and really enjoyed it. Thank you
Our tour guide Maria was excellent and the tour both informative and humorous and would thoroughly recommend to all visitors looking for an overview of Vienna`s historical cultural sites.
Maria is knowledgeable, entertaining and friendly. She made sure to go slowly enough for someone with mobility issues, but she kept a good pace and packed in a lot of information, including good answers to all kinds of questions.
Maria did a wonderful tour, explaining the history and architecture of Vienna in a way that kept our attention. She has so much enthusiasm for her city and we were grateful to have her lead our small group and share her insights.
