Of all the city history/ Third Reich tour guides we've had (Hamburg, Berlin, Dresden, Nuremberg, Zurich, Vienna) Karen was the best. A fountain of knowledge, some personal insights and easy listening. I highly recommend Karen's history tour of Veinna.

Itinerary
At the Anker Clock, you’ll meet your guide and begin your journey into Vienna’s Jewish history, with an introduction to the city around 1900—a time of cultural brilliance but also rising antisemitism.
Move into everyday Jewish life—community, traditions, and the vibrant pre-war Jewish presence in Vienna.
Deepen the story at Vienna’s main synagogue: religion, identity, and importantly, survival — including why the Stadttempel is the only synagogue in Vienna that still stands from before the Nazi era.
At Freyung, you’ll explore a historic square connected to Vienna’s Jewish past, while your guide explains the social and political climate that contributed to growing antisemitism.
At Judenplatz, you’ll visit the Holocaust Memorial and reflect on the destruction of Vienna’s Jewish community, learning about the lives lost and the lasting impact of Nazi persecution.
At Heldenplatz, you’ll examine one of the most significant sites of Nazi history, where Hitler announced the Anschluss in 1938, and reflect on Austria’s role and its ongoing process of coming to terms with its past.

Incredible mix of history, sight seeing, and perspective. I will recommend this tour to everyone I know who visits Vienna!
Fantastic tour full of exciting unknown buildings and facts. Lucas was an exceptional guide, with local knowledge and personal experiences. Our children especially enjoyed the story near the end of the tour and asking lots of questions.
Ivo was a fantastic guide. Incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and easygoing. I would highly recommend him.
Really tragic and interesting tour made all the more poignant as we head blindly into yet another era of utterly ugly anti semitism. The guide was incredibly interesting, animated and reverend. I would highly recommend this tour to everyone. In fact it should be mandatory !
Great tour. Lots more stops than listed on the itinerary. The guide Lukas was very knowledgeable and gave lots of information.
I did this tour yesterday morning and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately I cannot remember the guides name but he was amazing, very knowledgeable and friendly. The pictures shown during the tour were also really good!
We were completely captivated. Excellent tour. We learned a lot. Lucas our guide struck a perfect balance of honesty and dignity in handling this sensitive subject matter. He encouraged questions throughout the tour and at the end of the tour even gave his time to discuss more with those who had lingering questions. If you only do one walking tour whilst you visit Vienna - I recommend you make it this one.
Lucas was an exceptional guide with a personal connection to the history he shared. We highly recommend a tour with him!
An excellent tour - Lucas was friendly, very knowledgeable and the tour was fascinating and hugely enriched our trip to Vienna.
Fantastic tour! Lukas (our guide) was very knowledgeable and informative. He was also very sensitive to the topic (World War 2), particularly the Jewish elements. Lukas’ English was very strong and he was very easy to listen to. The walking tour itself was very compact so we covered a lot of different subjects, statues and topics in a small geographical area. The tour never felt too much and we had a nice coffee break towards the end of the tour. Lukas was great at answering questions too. He ended his tour with a very personal story of how the 2nd world war impacted his own family. Lukas is a really great tour guide and a true credit to Vienna.
The tour is fantastic! The guide was very knowledgeable and shared interesting stories. Highly recommend!!
Very interesting and educational. It was well worth the time. Definitely a highlight of my trip to Vienna.
Amazing tour with a very in depth and well orchestrated description on the history of fascism in Austria.
Our guide was very dry...no sense of humor. His English was only ok. I learned a few things, but mostly for me it ended up being about linking real world sights to history I already knew.
Very informative, wonderfully knowledgeable tour guide. Quite a bit of walking, but it wasn't too difficult.
Tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and covered the topics beautifully. He ensured we had the hard-to-about information without skipping facts or details. Friendly. Learned a lot.
Lucas was a fantastic guide his knowledge was brilliant and made for a great walk. His own family history came as a surprise at the end of the tour. 10/10 from us
Excellent! The tour guide was very knowledgeable, organized and totally engaging. I can’t remember his name but our tour was Saturday 10/17
There is a lot of standing. Lucas was a fabulous guide and the tour was extremely interesting and informative.
Fabulous tour . I was so happy we had Lucas as a guide as i had read all the previous reviews, He was extremely informative and knowledgeable and showed such compassion around a very delicate matter . Would highly recommend.
The tour is excellent. You do not walk far, and there is a half way break. It’s exceptionally informative
Overall the tour was informative as it linked WW2 events to current day politics. Although the information lacked details/specific events on how the Nazi ideology impacted Austria and the people of Vienna. Also the tour group was much larger than expected.
Excellent tour well organized and our guide was well informed and really new his stuff. It was very interesting and our guide made the whole tour a worthwhile experience and I would thoroughly recommend to anyone with an interest in WW2 Vienna. The experience was further enhanced by the earpieces and communication devices, which made it very easy to enjoy our guides commentary.
One of the best tours we have ever done! Lucas was an excellent tour guide - very clear explanations and really informative for the entire duration. Would recommend this to anyone visiting Vienna!
Quite frankly superb. Our guide Lucas dealt with the sensitivity of the subject with great clarity and sensitivity. The level of his knowledge and ability to condense and synthesise the tragic and complex history of the time was brilliant. The tour was super interesting. I was with 3 friends and they all agreed including those who had no particular interest in WW2. Thank you.
Love my guide Mark …. So knowledgeable and friendly… learned so much … we stopped, took breaks. It’s even wheelchair accessible
This walk was absolutely fascinating. The guide was really excellent. She was so knowledgable and pleasant and we walked with friendly people. There was plenty of opportunity to sit down during the walk at little stops. With a coffee break in the middle. It wasn't too fast paced. I really must recommend this event.
Great tour. Our tour guide mark was amazing. We could have listened to him all day! Would highly recommend!
Amazingly informative tour. Lucas pointed out things that you would not normally notice just by walking through the area. A dark and horrifying history including more recent atrocities brought to light. The very personal family story at the end of the tour was moving. A frightening aspect was at the end when a young American couple and Canadian couple said to Lukas that they had not been told anything about this history at school or college. Thank you Lukas for your sharing.
Tour was so bad we jumped onto another company’s tour! Tour guide droned on about things that had nothing to do with Hitler’s Vienna. He spoke more about the church and building a waterway than the synagogue and Jewish homes that were in the neighborhood. When the tour began, in the square, he made no mention of a statue with a rabbi, Joseph and Mary. This statue withstood the ww2 bombings and the nazis occupation of Vienna. We tried to give the tour guide a chance, but it was a complete waste of our time. We were not the only people that felt this way. If I could get my money back, I would! The free walking tours with payment at the end are so much better!
Mark was very interesting and he covered a wide range of topics. Roman to WWll. One of the best guides we had on our 3 week trip
This tour was absolutely amazing….our guide was so knowledgeable and took us through the streets of Vienna while explaining the history behind the rise to power of Hitler…we learned so many things from him…this tour is very enlightening…we all know how dark and somber the holocaust was and this tour was solemn and factual…would 1000% recommend…
Lucas was fantastic. Would highly recommend this to all history buffs when visiting Vienna. His personal stories really brought the whole thing full circle.
Excellent walking tour of the history of Hitler. Would highly recommend- slow paced, no rushing. 2 and 1/2 hrs went by so quick! Tour guide was exceptional with his knowledge and photograph's. I’m sorry can’t remember his name but walk was at 9.30 on 27th September
This experience was so very powerful and incredible. Our guide, Lucas, was more than we could ever have hoped for. So knowledgeable, courteous, patient with all our questions, and so very respectful regarding the delicate and sensitive topics being discussed. I truly believed this would be a great tour and, even so, the experience still very much exceeded my expectations. Very well done, indeed.
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and his presentation was clear and entertaining. This tour was one of the highlights of our trip.
Guide was knowledgeable and showed us what was stated in your guide. Easy to understand.
Very informative tour with Marc who is a really knowledgeable and entertaining guide
Marc was a very friendly and knowledgable guide. He was respectful of the difficult topics about which he was talking. We learnt a lot and would recommend this tour 100%.
Excellent tour with our extremely knowledgeable guide, Marc. He was very friendly and happy to answer questions throughout the morning. We are so glad we included this tour in our trip as we learned so much about the city, the war years and the Austrian people, especially the Jewish community.
Did walking tour with Mark who was excellent. Very knowledgeable and very pleasant. We really learnt a lot on the tour. Thank you
Mark our guide was very knowledgeable and interesting. If you consider yourself a history lover, this is a must. An interesting way to see Vienna's landmarks through a story.

Excellent tour, something different. Mario the guide great and well prepared with good knowledge.
Excellent summary of the WWII period in Vienna, and the history of the Jewish community in the city. Mario did a great job answering questions from people in the tour and was very kind and cordial. Definitely recommended
Our guide was very knowledgeable. We all really enjoyed the tour.. It was definitely one we would recommend.
