Disappointing experience – poor value for money I paid €72 for this experience and was very disappointed. The ongoing renovation work and restricted access were not mentioned at the time of booking. This information was only provided later on the ticket. Furthermore, admission was advertised for 10:00 a.m., but we were not allowed to enter until 10:30 a.m. What makes this particularly frustrating is that reduced admission prices are offered due to the ongoing renovation work, yet I paid the full price of €72 without being informed of these restrictions in advance. In addition, the gardens and certain areas of the Hofburg are freely accessible, making the overall price even harder to justify. I contacted Viator to request a partial refund, but my request was rejected. Overall, a disappointing experience with poor transparency, unsatisfactory customer service and very poor value for money. I would not recommend booking this experience through Viator.
Hofburg place and Most of Sisi Museum were closed. It was a totat waste of time.Tour operator shoud have informed.
It would have been very helpful to have a map of the surrounding area. We walked around and around looking for everything
This tour was very frustrating for us. We have done many tours in the past and this one was very unorganized and misrepresented. It advertised we would see the palace, Sisi museum and gardens. We were only allowed to see the apartment in the palace, perhaps 8 rooms. They were all worth seeing, but since Sisi museum is being renovated and not advertised as such I am not sure why accommodations couldn’t be adjusted to add more rooms to the ticket or charge less since we saw less. We were not given the opportunity to see the gardens either as the place was closing down for the day. Very poorly advertised in my opinion. There was nobody available to complain to when we finished the apartment tour.
Don’t follow the directions of the app or email for the meeting point, they send to you to the wrong building. Then when we rang the operator we could not understand a bloody word she was saying, she sounded like she was a mile away from the phone. Very frustrating to deal with.
We only got half the experience as the Sisi museum is closed as work is being done and only the imperial palace part is open. The cost was not reduced to represent this closure.
It is not a tour, it is a fraud. Just tickets to the Sisi Museum. The best way will be to buy tickets to the museum directly.
First the link for tickets (in the email and the Vistor App) did not connect to a ticket page but a .pdf document which supposedly had a link in it but that link only went back to the .pdf page. I tried to call the support number and it showed “India” on the screen and it just rang without anyone answering. Past the time of the appointment, 10:00 AM, the link finally worked and showed a ticket and when we tried to get into the Sisi Museum and the ticket agent said the tickets were not valid and were not compatible with their system. We were able to enter but only after much discussion with the ticket agent. The instructions were poor for entry location. Also most of the Sisi Museum was closed for construction so we only saw a small portion of the museum. There was no notice of this limitation. Also, the Palace portion of the tour was not clear as to what we could visit so we only were able to visit the outside grounds as the tickets we had were not compatible with the gate entry systems. I used Viator on other trips in Europe and had no issues. The second event I booked through Viator at Schönbrunn Palace had no issues so it maybe the tour company. My recommendation is to book directly with the museum rather than use the Viator App or try another company like Get Your Guide or another.
I usually have good luck with Viator but this was a rip off. The museum and the palace were one and the same even though represented as 2 separate events. In addition the garden is FREE to the public so should not have been advertised as part of this experience. Overall the museum took about 25minutes. That’s all
We were not informed that half of the museum was closed. They were selling the tickets for €15 on location because of this. So we paid a ton of money for only about 20 minutes of walking through the apartments.
We paid to see the SISI collection of Art. It was closed for this month and they should’ve told us and not charged us a full fair because they only showed us a few rooms of the apartments and that was not enough so we really should get reimbursed.
An extremely poor experience! The Hofburg palace was closed for renovation during the whole month of october.Viator sold us tickets anyway that we could not download We had to buy separately tickets for the Sisi apartments and wasted $64 euros We would like to be reimbursed
The ticketing process was cumbersome and confusing. I booked with Viator then was sent a voucher I had to exchange for tickets at a designated point then there was no one at the point to exchange the tickets. I had to call the operator to get tickets digitally sent to me.
Skip the lines-lie you must stand in multiple lines. Tickets were not valid, no gardens. Demand full refund
The Hofburg Palace Sisi museum and gardens isn’t worth $75 for a couple. You only see a few rooms ( bedrooms, bathrooms, conference and an office) of the palace as it is mostly an exhibit. In addition, the audio didn't align with what was in the case or room. In addition, the Coronation dress was on loan to another facility. The length is maybe 45 minutes, if you listen to all the numbers assigned to an exhibit or room. The staff and atmosphere were very unpleasant and not very helpful with the Viator email. They just sell it to any second party and don’t care if you get what you paid for. Basically, told us if we couldn’t find our tickets, we could buy again, which would probably of been for a different time and day. The whole ordeal was very embarrassing and humiliating ( Like we were trying to cheat them). Further, finding the entrance was a challenge in itself no signs and construction work. It wasn’t crowded the day we went.
Meeting point was difficult to find. Contradictory information from map to description. There is no meeting point. Just enter the Sisi Museum. The literature says Hofburg Palace and Sisi Museum and Gardens. It is just the Museum, which is in the Palace. The Sisi Museum is very interesting.
It was interesting learning more about SiSi. Many great artifacts. You will definitely learn something new about her tragic story.
A remarkable history and a fascinating tour. Well worth the ticket price. Easy access and interesting information makes for a special morning.
I had a truly wonderful experience! I booked my tickets for Sisi Palace and other attractions through them, and everything was incredibly smooth, easy, and well organized from start to finish. What impressed me the most was the excellent customer service — very friendly, responsive, and genuinely helpful throughout the whole process. It made my visit so much more enjoyable and stress-free. Sisi Palace was absolutely beautiful and unforgettable, and I’m very happy that I chose this service for my bookings. I would definitely use them again on my future travels and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and professional service. Thank you for making my Vienna experience even more special! ✨🇦🇹
It was a great experience for us! Entrance was easy and the museum is very nice. If you admire Sissi’s life is a must go.
A great experience. The audio guides provided and the exhibits were great.
This is not a tour. This is only a ticket to the Sisi Museum. Plus it gives you a time and I had to stand around and wait to get in. The museum is very hot and crowded but it’s nice to walk through. You can buy one by yourself at the counter for a lot less. There is no line. Do not book this! Just go buy a ticket. The gardens are free. I felt like this was a scam. I’ve done over 30 tour through Viator. This was the most disappointing .
Its worth to see Sisi Museum. However this package didint include the gardens, meeting point was wrong and took us to library and there was only one Queue so no skipping the line. It was just Sisi Museum. But still a must to see in Vienna.
This is a scam. It is just a ticket to sisi museum which costed more if buying the ticket directly. The guide is just the audio guide included for free in the official ticket. It doesn’t include any access to any other part of hofberg palace. The garden is free to everyone too.
The booking directions in the Viator app brought us up to the left side of the palaces front door. There was no sign there with further instruction. Sisi was the only item written at the top of our ticket and we had purchased and confirmed with customer service that our ticket was good for all three areas, sisi. Hofburg, and gardens. We found the sisi entrance quite far away from the designated meet point in Viator after asking at three ticket booths, hofburg front entrance, hofburg ticket counter, and hofburg side tour entrance. we then found the sisi entrance about 40 minutes later after a lot of walking. The directions in the Viator app were quite misleading. Our ticket only said sisi tour on it and the palace didn’t let us in when they saw it, so it would have been better to include that information of all the features you purchased entry to on the actual ticket. We only got into sisi today. We enjoyed sisi but this was a frustrating experience since they wouldn’t let us into the other two features included in our tickets. Customer service helped early on helping us find the sisi entrance, but it was very late in the day, 90 minutes after our booking time that we got to the palace. Ticks at that point weren’t accepted. A lot of time was consumed asking for assistance and directions. Viator needs accurate directions to each of the three entrances on this ticket.
Easy and accessible tickets to the palace. The museum is very crowded so choose an early time. Tickets were easily accessible.
Great experience, we felt the times when Sissi and Kaiser Frantz Joseph lived there, as well as the greatness of the history behind their personal stories
Great experience of splendid Vienna, also great value of money, guidance. Very good atmosphere, nice helpful staff. Thank you!
no tour guide to meet you which is difficult because the German speaking staff tell you to look for your tour guide’s conpany flag
Interesting experience. Quite different than we expected. Wouldn’t worry about skip the line (there wasn’t one) very strict on entering exhibit time. Pleasantly surprised. Can’t wait to get home and learn more about “Sussy”!
I never got the entry tickets from booking.com. I called and the AI assistant refused to connect me with a real person. Because I never got the tickets, I did NOT get into the attraction. The ticket office informed me that this is a common problem with Booking.com. Now, they are refusing to give me my money back. Avoid booking.com like the plague.
The coordinates for the starting point of our tour sent by Viator were incorrect. We found the start of the second part of our tour, the Sisi museum, after calling the Viator customer support number twice, and visited it. But we never found the Hopburg Palace entrance were our tickets were accepted. Very disappointed with Viator. I recommend avoiding them.
Need to plan ahead: its a big complex with several museums. Small passages through the Sisi apartments
There are no signs for the entrance so we had to go around the building several times until we finally reached the entrance. Overall it was ok experience. Recommend if you are familiar with Sisi history
Sisi’s museum is worth a visit. They are strict with the entry time to control the crowd so the experience is good.
If I could give this 0 stars I would ! Usually we have excellent experiences with Viator — this was not the case Poor communication Tickets did not come to morning of event The timed entry was not 11am as advertised - was almost an hour later The tour itself take about 30-45 mins tops and is just audio Not worth it !
This is a rip off. There is no guide, audio only and they include it at the museam. Go direct to the museam site. The gardens are free to all, adult with audio should be €20 each, Viator charged €34.
Great tour! I really liked this. My mom enjoyed this. Great understanding of the history. Absolutely amazing
It was extremely boring and uneventful to see. Phones were annoying as well. Not worth the money and our time
Unfortunately the location provided for the beginning of the tour was incorrect which led to several minutes of frustration asking others where to go (and clearly annoying them!). I hope this will be corrected for future tours. But the museum was excellent.
This was a good tour. Bring you own plug in earpiece if you have them but not necessary. The reason for the 2 star deduction was price. The same tickets are available at the museum for half the price we paid.
Lovely palace featuring Empress Sisi’s apartments and life. Loved it. She was a unique individual who also helped the Hungarians and was revered and crowned there.
What a lovely tour! The audio presentation provided just enough detail. The displays were beautiful. We loved the garden, as well.
It was great. We really like it. A little bit crowded. We had headphones. You can chose how long does the tour take.
Recommended in your vienna itinerary
Really awesome museum. Easy to get in and throughly enjoyed. Great history. Enjoyed the headset experience with the tour. Learned a lot
Well it's just a ticket and it works. But if you can, book tickets directly from Museum's website, which is a lot cheaper
The meeting place was not on the ticket or in the reservation. I went to the front steps at 11:15 - 11:45 and no tour leader ever showed up. I wasted the whole morning trying to get into the museums I had already booked through Trip Advisor but was turned away because they were sold out until late afternoon. Epic fail. Complete waste. I won’t book through Trip Advisor again.
DO NOT BOTHER WITH THIS Just buy your tickets online from the museum. There are no directions where to go and it isn’t obvious, the gardens are free so it’s just the imperial apartments which are wonderful but given you are on allocated time slots, there is very little queuing. I’ve tried many skip the line tickets and they’ve been great but just go direct to the museum this time
