Proposed to my Partner in the morning and was due to get the hop on hop off tour round to see and learn more about the history of Vienna with other activities booked. Due to a protest the buses didn't run in the afternoon and was unable to validate my tickets. Customer service have refused a refund and not responded to messages sent relating to these enquiries.

Reviews
We had one day in Vienna and chose to do a hop on hop off bus to get around everywhere. On the day of our tickets, we found out only because we went onto their website that there would be bus cancellations and delays because of a demonstration. Throughout the day we waited more than the time promised for a bus. One time we waited almost 45 minutes. Very unacceptable. Had we known before hand that there would be these delays, we would not have purchased tickets. The bus company knew of these demonstrations but still sold us tickets that were useless. We ended up having to take Ubers. The competitive bus company, Big Bus was always at their stops on contrast, and we saw their busses more often.
Totally worth it. Tried all the lines. You learn a lot about the city and its history. I highly recommend.
Don’t use Vienna Sightseeing bus tour. Hard to find departure points and rude bus drivers. Customer service no help. Asked for partial refund and turned down. Use Big Bus as many more buses.
If you are staying for a few days, do this first. It really helped us get our bearings and figure out which sights we wanted to go back and see inside.
After booking on line, you still need to seek out the vendor’s ticket office to collect your tickets. We searched and lost much time in Vienna as the instructions didn’t mention the office was in the opera house. When we got there just after 5pm, they were closed. So much for purchasing a “48 hours” plan. Btw, they don’t run 24 hours. On day 2 we did finally collect our tickets and found at the end of day, the stated “last bus” left 10 minutes early (before we could get there) so had to Uber back to town. Overall, very unhappy. Should have just bought a ticket on site (other company) instead of booking on line.
We purchased our Vienna Austria HOHO 'tickets' online using its popluar FLEXI PASS (alt VIENNA PASS) e-commerce system. We received our order code for 6 different activitues with FLEXI PASS. We then redeemed our HOHO order code at the bus stop upon arriving Vienna. The only problem is that the tickets is actually a very "THIN" grocery paper receipt, it looks just like a grocery store or souvenir shop or credit receipt. So I accidentally cleared my wallet of all receipts, forgotten about this 72-hour ticket which I was supposed to keep for 72 hours. Anyhow, HOHO staffs and management would not even consider to RE-PRINT another 'ticket receipt' for us. They just told us to buy another ticket. HOHO gives you substandard VERY THIN paper ticket, and expect you to lost it so then they can sell you another unnecessary ticket make more profit.
Expensive for what you get, and even though buses were supposed to come every 20 minutes we had to wait 45 minutes at one stop. The driver did not pull into the byway where the stop was.
The Hop On Hop Off buses were great! The young people working at the outside stations were helpful and very pleasant. However, one driver in the blue line on August 25, 2026 was very rude. He wouldn’t assist me when I had a question. The driver the day before was outstanding. Thank you for this service!
Way too much history in the commentary. I’d like to know what Vienna is like today ie. types of employment, what folks do for leisure, health stats etc. Found it hard to get on certain bus lines. Had to ride a route a second time just to connect to a different line. Should be one central point to catch all lines. I found the bus system extremely confusing. The taped commentary did not have stop numbers recorded in to it, so it was difficult at times to determine which stop to get off at to catch the next line. There is definitely room for improvement.
There are several routes you can use. The buses are very regular. The commentaries are available in many languages. Well worth it for getting to see all the sights
We really enjoyed the 24 hour hop on hop of bus. It does finish about 4.30 ish so bear this in mind. We liked the historic commentary and being able to get off a different points that were more interesting. It also saved us a lot of walking as we saw Vienna from the comfort of our seats 🙂 Don’t use this option if you just want to get around the city without a guided commentary or sightseeing as you can buy an all day pass for around €9 that lets you use buses, trams and trains in the city. We did this the following day.
If you want to wait 45 minutes, this is your tour bus. The driver was rude
Start at the main starting point, it’s all downhill from there, study the rout maps to fully understand where you’re going, red and blue lines overlap so the blue line is not essential.
The bus was comfortable and clean . loved the Vienna sightseeing tour Thank you very much Meral . Staff was very friendly too .
On the bus now. Its 30c+ and hardly any air-conditioning. Upstairs was like a sauna so had to resort to doing the trip downstairs which had warm air flowing. So hot, bothered and unable to take nice photos. Wouldn't use these guys again !
Highly recommend this bus tour of Vienna, the staff were very informative, no big waiting time between buses , excellent value, audio commentary very good ..highlight was the green route up into the hills overlooking the city ....deserved a 5 star🌟 well done...
This was excellent value online and was easy to activate the ticket when in Vienna. Tons of buses and 4 line options - l did 3 (red, yellow and blue - the green was up in to the hills and l would have done this had l had more time). The buses covered all of the attractions and the historic info whilst on the bus was varied and really gave a good insight into the country. I did the 48 hour ticket but would definitely recommend this for your initial visit in Vienna. Staff at all stops were always helpful and pointed me in the right direction although the maps provided were excellent.
Where to start with this experience? First off we had to trek miles to the one office that could redeem our Viator voucher for the actual bus passes. Then it turned out there were stops closed and subsequently moved to different locations. Then there were the unscheduled breaks that the buses took at certain times, leaving us to stand in the cold and wind for an hour waiting for the next bus, then there were the absolutely useless and unhelpful staff that we occasionally encountered, and the always unfriendly bus drivers. So, yeah, really not a good experience. Stick with local transportation options (U-Bahn, Trams). You'll see more and probably have a much better experience than we did.
Would highly recommend this tour. The audio was very clear. The bus was clean and top deck was covered in so we were cosy for the duration.
What you can see on yelow line bus? Nothing, just waist your time at all! You can’t get any other bus no red no blue. The worst time on this line
I have no idea why people put negative reviews of this tour. It was fine, clean busses which were punctual and a good recorded tour guide. Having done many city bus tours this was as good as any other.
Some busses were cancelled. Train along the route have no knowledge of delays etc. when we were told bus would arrive shortly and when it didn’t staff said it wasn’t there problem. Audio not synchronised with route so parts of the trip you don’t know what you’re looking at. All in all a very poor effort.
Really good bus trips. There are different routes which can be chosen within the 24hours. We did the blue and yellow. The commentary gives lots of information as well. Would recommend over the competitors.
Bad Experience. Tried to switch from the red line to yellow. The Yellow bus was 45 minutes late to arrive and then suddenly stopped runing and made everyone get off at an inconvient location. We had to take Uber back to the start, Cost us $90 USD and we saw very little.
All staff were friendly and advised on the next bus for our tour. Bus was a little cold as windows couldn’t fully close. Times were adhered to and the audio guide gave information as we drove around. The stops for swapping to alternate bus/trains for airport etc were handy for some maybe but made some routes very long. Handy to be straight outside the main train station when arriving in Vienna and be able to get back for return journey.
We always have a great experience with Hop On and Hop Off when we travel to major cities and overseas. Friendly staff in Vienna, offer 3 options, Red, Blue and Nighttime. All are good options, Red is probably the one that hits the most places to visit.
We got the 24 hour bus tour as it was apart of our package tour. It is worth it when you are travelling from abroad because you can use it for the following day. They have 4 different coloured lines that tour you through different parts of the city. You have to get off the bus to tour different lines. They provide headphones for you to connect to listen to an audio voice while on the bus. The audio guide tour comes in over 20 different languages to choose from.
Great tour, plenty of buses. Take the time to go on all the routes. Thoroughly enjoyed the trip up the mountain.
Overall, it's convenient, a good value, and stops at most of the main tourist sites but be prepared for potential longer-than-advertised waits at stops for the line you need to get to specific locations. In one case, I waited a full hour at a stop which, when you have just one day in a city, is a frustrating waste of valuable time.
Do not use this scam of a company. Firstly, I do not blame them for any rain. However, on their hop on and hop off bus, they 💯 dangerously put myself and others lives in jeopardy. It's 28 degrees, rain but they closed all the windows and put the heat on this yellow line. I paid for the blue line and asked for a small 10 euro refund from the extra I had initially paid on my ticket. Everyone was scared to make a move. The supervisor, the entire team and now the head office all refused to refund me. I told them in off to Salzburg, their reply just now they cannot refund me and to come back on their hot sweaty bus before the 24 hours expires. This is fraud, neglect and could be criminal. It's summer time, how on earth do you put the heat on with closed windows. I will make this my goal to write a bad review everywhere possible
Good way to see sites of the city on different routes determined by color. Commentary that was provided pre-recorded was sufficient in describing each site.
No WiFi, even the brochure mention it. Driver drove aggressively, ringing the bus horn too frequently and on top of that he told us tourists to shut up! Unheard of! The blue line is a waste of money, unless you want to go to the Danube islands or the recreational park.
I have done hop -on bus tours all over the world and I found this very poor. There is very little commentary and too much music is played. We passed numerous interesting and significant sights and there was hardly any, if any , information given- the music plays constantly. Surely tourists do these tours to learn about a city, not listen to music in the traffic? The music played most of the time whilst the bus drove slowly through the traffic, it is a waste of time and money. I walked around the Ringstrasse the following day and learnt much more with a guide book and Google.
Long waits in between buses. Narrative on some bus lines just okay. Positive is it gets you from place to place.
I use hop on hop off all the time but this was the worst experience I’ve ever experienced with them. To start off not one person came to talk to us when we came to the area to but the ticket. They were all too busy talking to each other. Second we asked when the bus ran and no one had an answer. So we got on the first bus that came, it wasn’t what we wanted but it got us to our first stop. There we spent over 45 minutes waiting and no bus should up. At this point we needed to go so now we are out 70 euros and have to walk to our next site. I reached out to Vienna site seeing and told them about this and that I would appreciate a refund but was denied because according to there records no bus was late. If you’re going or in Vienna use big bus company going forward, that bus passed by us about 4 times.
Hard to keep up with where on map we were . Had to wait 30 min at each stop. . Big tour bus is more organized easy to follow
If i could give this company no stars, i would. It doesnt even deserve the one star it got. My Daughter and I paid 70 euro for day tickets. The audio wasn't synced, and the driver didn't stop at some stops on the route. It wasn't hop on hop off. It was hop off and wait an hour for another bus to come along. We spent our day waiting for another bus instead of actually sight seeing! On Wednesday the 18/12/2024 at 10:30am a red bus pulled up and two employees who were selling / scanning tickets stood in the doorway of the bus, chatting to the driver and blocking us getting on, we were quite confused but waited to get on as we assumed they would turn and scan our tickets once they were ready, the next thing we knew the bus drove away, I asked one of the employees (brown hair in a pony tail, small and an unapproachable demeanor, I would assume she hates her job) who had been blocking the doorway was that driver not taking passengers and she aggressively snapped at me saying "why didnt you just get on??" in a loud voice. I then explained that her and her colleague were blocking the door and did not usher anyone on or scan tickets, she was extremely dismissive and hostile and rolled her eyes and walked away. Please save your time and money, I would not recommend this company. Its unprofessional, the staff are extremely rude and most of all you see nothing!!!!
Not really impressed. For the amount of money €30(!) I could have done more. I have never been to Vienna before and wanted to got a sense of the city, I usually take these hop on/hop off tours all over Europe. This one was the worst. The audio was not synced to the tour. The WiFi didn’t work. Then, on my blue line tour the driver pulled over and asked everyone to get out. He told us another bus was coming in five minutes and he was on break. Everyone disembarked, which meant waiting in the cold for the five minutes. I don’t know why he didn’t just tell us all to stay on the bus until the relief bus came. Then, unbeknownst to me, the tour bus turned to red. Without an announcement or informing us we were disembarking a blue line to join a red line. When we stopped at the Opera House, I went to get off thinking I’d catch a red lined the driver rudely informed me I was ALREADY on a red line. Then he played the audio saying red line bus five or six times to drive home the point during the tour, meaning we weren’t synced. Not impressed at all.
The bus doesn’t come as regularly as I would have liked, the schedule was every 40-60 mins!, so we spent a lot of time waiting!
our first of many hop on, hop off tours around the world that did not have a live tour guide. It was hard to follow along with the recorded commentary, it was a little out of sync with where we were and it was difficult to hear, especially when other participants were having their own loud conversation.
Very informative all around city. Good audio personnel in n the ground very helpful but the bus driver was not when asked question. Highly recommend
Reasonable service and listen to our issues, quick response. Helpful staff and suggested quick way to get support.
The bus tours were disappointing. The representatives at the stops were rude and unfriendly. If you just use it as transportation it is ok, but not worth the ticket. They advertise free WiFi on board, when I told the rep it didn’t work, her response was oh well it broke. Skip it and use the trams.
We have traveled all around Europe, and often use busses like this in cities where we don’t know a lot about them. As such, they provide a good service of providing an overview of a city with historical or practical commentary. Clearly, if we knew everywhere we wanted to go, mass transit would be a better and cheaper option. Also, there are very few of these busses we’ve been on where some of the audio ports didn’t work, or some employees viewing customers as eye-roll inducing ignoramuses (it’s not a great job for anyone). But they do provide an appreciated service, and this particular one was pretty much the same as we’ve experienced all over Europe. We did wonder what a tour in the summer might be like, because even in October with the sun shining through the all the glass on the top, the upper level became positively roasting, with no air conditioning and no way to open windows. My guess would be to try to find an open air bus in the summer and wear a hat and sunglasses.
Why not make vouchers redeemable at every stop rather than just two? That is a big downer and terribly inconvenient especially if you don't know the city.
Good fun, staff were friendly and the bus was clean. The routes are a bit drawn out so you end up driving a lot and getting stuck at the many traffic lights. On a sunny day you get decent views passing through the city. There are complimentary earphones and an audio guide in many languages available. The paper map was good too.
Love the route of our hop on hop off . The schedule is always on time We have an excellent driver very careful.
Great tour, only slightly uncomfortable seats for a long tour. Amazing sights and Guide audio was fantastic
We bought single day tickets for all 3 of their lines plus the boat tour. We were unable to use most of the ticket because riding all 3 lines would take all day and maybe more. audio was informative and was well synced with what we were seeing. The .We did take the boat cruise but be aware it takes you along mostly industrial and office buildings. It was relaxing, however.
