Hallstatt was the highlight of the day. It was magnificent with the most fantastic views. The scenery was really beautiful with lakes, mountains and the autumn coloured trees. I would have liked more time there. Salzburg is a lovely city particularly the old town. The fortress on the mountain is impressive. We also had a lovely guide, Ottavia She was very good to give information and explained everything really well. An excellent tour.

Long bus ride, too short of a time in Salzburg. Require internet to get QR code with map/ description of site, restaurants etc,.so if no internet, do not get all the info.
From Vienna, the trip to Hallstatt and Salzburg takes a long time you’d end up spending more time in the bus than at Hallstatt and Salzburg. I would not recommend this trip. We had about an hour at Hallstatt and about an hour and a half at Salzburg. Thats for an entire trip that started at 7AM and came back to Vienna at 9PM so imagine the time spent just on the road. The thing we did not like the most is the inconsiderate driver who did not even turn on the AC while all the passengers were back in the bus during a hot late summer day. Never again with this tour.
Your guide was very nice.Clear guiding and very kind.We could see beautiful sceneries at both sites. We could experience wonderful things.
Amazing and the tour guide sensational
Very good. We had a real good time the bus was comfortable our guides were knowledgeable and friendly
We enjoyed our trip to Hallstadt and Salzburg - this was an ideal "taster" tour that wasn't stressful, and didn't break the bank. What to expect: - An early pick up 7am, and a drop off around 8pm. - A lot of time on the coach, but with a comfortable amount of toilet breaks. - A double-decker tour bus, and a large tour group. - Hallstadt and Salzburg are breathtaking (we want to go back and spent a couple of days in each next time. - Professional and courteous staff. There were a couple of mumbles from others about spending so much time on the coach - I am not sure what they were expecting from a day trip travelling half way across the country!
This is a highly rewarding experience for couples seeking a quick, inclusive trip to two destinations: Hallstatt and Salzburg. I recommend following our tour guide (Priscilla) for the initial parts of the tours in Hallstatt and Salzburg, then going out on your own (i.e., free time). In Salzburg, it is recommended to visit Mirabella Gardens and Fortress Hohensalzburg (especially in the warmer months). The only downside to this trip is that the bus is extremely warm in winter. So I recommend wearing short sleeves inside the bus. This bus does not have electrical outlets for charging your electronic devices. So, bring your own power bank.
Steffi was a great guide and shared useful information along the way. Overall, Hallstatt was a typical tourist trap town but had nice scenery. I was disappointed in the time spent in Salzburg. The description said you could join a Sound of Music our, however, no info was given about this once we arrived. I(Austrians do not like this movie and it was clear) Also, the bus let us off a 20 minute walk to any of the sites. This was never mentioned and I wonder how people with limited mobility or older people would navigate this. 40 minutes of the 2 hours spent is Salzburg was spent walking to and from the bus.
Hallstatt was great! Saltburg very disappointing. Our guide talked VERY soft hard to hear and when pointing things out faced the thing which made it harder to hear. Would not recommend her.
This was a nice tour. Hallstatt is very beautiful but extremely crowded. Salzburg was nice but you are really not there long enough to do anything. It is really not a guided tour at all. You go to maybe 2 stops to see Mozart house and a garden. Our guide was on his phone 90% of the time . It might be worthwhile to just take a train to Salzburg to spend the day.
Beautiful tour! Paris made it very enjoyable! The bus was also very comfortable and the tour was organized.
Hallstatt is a unique beautiful gem to be seen and Salzburg was very charming with the Christmas market and decoration filled with loads of history. Erik was a great guide funny and knowledgeable, thank you. The only downside was the distance which you must take in consideration before booking but well worth it. I really recommend it.
we had a marvelous tour guide Priscilla, she is knowledgeable and professional which contributes a wonderful experience from this trip. Wish I could have tour guides like her in the future tours with viator.
I paid extra to be picked up at hotel. My receipt said they would pick us up at hotel. They did not pick us up. This was expensive and now they won’t give me my money back.
The tour is definitely worth the price! All members of staff were so incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. While it is a long day trip, it’s an absolutely rewarding experience!
Although this trip is very long, everything ran extremely smooth. The places we visited are absolutely beautiful! The guides were very professional and always enthusiastic to answer any questions. Priscilla and her colleague were both great. Our tour omitted “Melk” in order to be able to spend a little more time in Hallstatt and Salzburg which was great as we had enough time to enjoy without feeling rushed. I would highly recommend the tour.
Octavia and Ilar were instantly a comfortable pair of guides, checking us in with smiles and offering coffee once we hit the road. In Hallstatt, they took pictures of everyone in the group, and in Salzburg, my wife and I were lucky enough to walk solo with them as the rest of the tour spread out for our last hour. They were helpful with recommended spots to eat and experiences to hit before our time ran out, but most of all, they were so friendly and down to earth. The bus driver was a true pro as well, hauling us comfortably through rain and traffic while we watched beautiful Austria fly by in our windows. Thanks again!
Such an incredible journey! 🚍 I loved how the tour combined everything: the beauty of Melk Abbey, the fairytale charm of Hallstatt, and the cultural richness of Salzburg. It felt like three vacations in just one day.
This tour is nothing more than an extremely uncomfortable, arguably even torturous, and wholly unnecessary 8-hour bus ride, out of a total 13 hours and it doesn’t even take you into Fortress, arguably the single most important attraction in Salzburg. Super-cramped seats – as bad or worse than an economy aircraft The tour guide never engaged the visitors in the bus ride to Salzburg except for two brief moments. The first announcement was to observe the Abbey of Melk but when it finally came into view the thoughtless bus driver overtook a tractor trailer and blocked the entire picture taking opportunity instead of pulling behind the slower truck, perhaps affording even more photo time. The second announcement about an interesting architectural building was made moments before it came into view rather than provide visitors with enough time to prepare to take photos. The driver also drove by quickly with no thought for the passengers and why they were there. There was no other traffic around. The driver was constantly correcting his steering causing little jerks that woke up passengers. He took some of the curves on the side roads that had visitors shifting left and right notably in their seats as if we were in some kind of race. Lane changes were abrupt and sometimes crossed two lanes without a pause. As we approached a town before Hallstatt (I think), the road backed up with significant traffic, a small vehicle directly in front of the bus with a hitch at the back decided to turn around. Instead of permitting the vehicle to do so, our driver inched forward and closed the space to the point where I actually had to call out to the driver, “What are you doing? Stop!” The driver purposely created an unwarranted incident. We weren’t in any kind of danger. However, I could see us either being delayed because of an accident, which would have undoubtedly caused a massive traffic jam, or possibly the hitch might have unintentionally punctured the driver-side front wheel, which consequences would be obvious. In another incident, at a brief resting place, the road was being painted and it was a tight squeeze for the bus to get by. The driver honked at the tradesmen and a minor exchange of heated words ensued—perhaps warranted but certainly not professional. We must have passed at least six schloss’s or other points of interest but we learned nothing about any of that. The description of the deepest lake in Austria was brief and comprised mostly of “beautiful scenery” descriptors. The guide spent most of the trip time listening to music while wearing a headset, or browsed her phone. The bus did not have charging outlets for phones, which are a must for long-distance tours in particular. On the positive side, they offered a couple of biscuits and coffee. The bus did have Wifi but with 50 passengers, the sessions to try to book anything timed out and we couldn’t actually do anything besides browse. We decided not to continue with the tour and instead toured the Fortress, which was the redeeming feature of the trip and a “must see.” We travelled back by high-speed rail. The tour guide was very helpful and respectful in helping us locate the Salzburg train station. Get a reservation as well. It was packed. Forget this tour. Take the OBB highspeed and super-quiet train which gets you to Salzburg in comfort in 2.5 hours and makes only three stops. Tour on you own in Salzburg, or find a local guide. The train runs frequently every day so you can get a full day of touring and sleep comfortably if you’re suffering from jet lag or just an intense day of walking.
I went on this tour with a friend and we enjoyed every moment. We took hundreds of photos in Hallstatt, visited the abbey in Melk, and finished the day exploring Salzburg. A full and amazing experience.
Traveling with this tour made everything easy. The timing was perfect, and the guide explained so much along the way. Hallstatt looked like a postcard 💙 and Salzburg was full of music and charm. 🎶
There were some pros and cons of this trip. We were in a nice bus and our guide was very attentive offering coffee and even gave us snacks. We had a quick stop at a store to buy our own snacks and use the restroom and our snack from him was waiting at our seat. I do wish we had known before going into the store or we wouldn't have gotten snacks. He did tell us what was going to happen. Melk Abbey was a quick stop and the Abbey was beautiful--excellent! It was raining and cloudy in Hallstadt so that wasn't as good as it could have been--no fault of the tour, of course. Our guide told us he'd show us the best places for pictures if we wanted to follow him. Unfortunately, we lost him very quickly. He walks fast, blends in with the crowd and we had no idea where he went. So we were on our own there. When we got to Salzburg, we had to walk about ten minutes from where the bus parked to the tourist area. Again, he said he would give us a walking tour if we wanted to follow him. Again, he walked very fast. We were able to keep up this time (sort of) but he made so many turns and didn't wait for people to catch up that there were only four of us with him at the end. We also didn't hear anything that he said because he went so fast. We also didn't have very much time to see Salzburg. There really isn't enough time to give enough justice to each place. If you aren't a fast walker, I don't recommend this tour.
We booked the tour from the Viator with the adversertusing as “ Vienna Hallstatt, Melk, Salzburg One Day Trip From $47.01”. I We did pay for the price for two people of $96 dollars. The night before the tour done one from the local travel office call us to pay another 260 euros. I think this is scam to the customers.
Well organized. Very comfy. WiFi . Very informative. Very accommodating . Beautiful areas . Highly recommend .
Had a fantastic one-day trip with Adil as our guide! The views were absolutely mesmerizing, and the photo opportunities were stunning. Adil’s knowledge and friendly attitude made the experience even better. Highly recommend this tour!
Samuel our driver was great. He was very accommodating and couldn’t have done more for us. Highly recommend
The places we visited totally worth it. Our guide Adil was very friendly, he guided us in every stop we made (around 20 min and then we were free) telling us things about every place and recommended where to go. Time spent in Hallstatt and Salzburg is enough but we could use a little more, especially in Salzburg. We started the tour a bit later than expected, so by the time we arrived in Salzburg all shops were already closed. Also it's very convenient that the van is picking you up and dropping you off to your hotel.
The experience was truly wonderful, and the destinations were stunning. However, the van felt overcrowded, and I would recommend limiting the number of passengers to seven for a vehicle of this size. I was seated in the center seat in the front row next to the driver, which was uncomfortable due to the center console, making it challenging to sit properly for extended periods of travel. While the journey itself was enjoyable, adjusting the passenger capacity could greatly enhance the overall comfort for future trips.
Hallstatt was picturesque and Salzburg was a a beautiful city. I enjoyed seeing more of Austria. The scenery, markets, shops and restaurants are worth visiting.
16hrs of silence. Waste of time. I mistakenly thought this was a tour, it was just a taxi service to the various locations. Once you're there, you're on your own to figure out what to do, where to go etc. I can't believe I paid money to sit in a vehicle for 16hrs of silence. At least I had a good nap. When you're in Salsburg at the end of the day this is basically your only main opportunity to find real food the entire day (the other locations had food if you were desperate), so you spend your entire time just trying to find something to eat before the grueling 5+hr silent journey home. It's not the money that concerned me, it was the fact it was an entire day wasted on a holiday, time we will never get back. Save yourself and book a proper tour guide, this was not it.
Hallstatt and Salzburg are beautiful, unfortunately very little time is spent in Salzburg Melk Abbey can be skipped and more time given for Salzburg. Our driver was very inexperienced and did not give much details or history about the places. His English was thin, so didn't say much. Was very new to the job. Was a nice guy though, not a good tour guide however.
Amazing tour and I enjoyed a lot .. the tour guide and driver Mr.Omar is so kind and friendly … I like the three cities we went and we get a lot of benefits for enjoying time and have a good historical knowledge about the places we visit
Basheer was polite, courteous & excellent driver. It was a long drive and needed more time in Hallstatt & Salzburg .
We had a wonderful trip and an awesome driver/guide, Richard. Pick up was on time, Richard was very pleasant, always making sure we were ok and willing to cater to our needs. We had perfect, sunny weather, and enough time to visit all stops without feeling rushed. We were simply lucky to have a perfect day with Richard included. We recommend this trip.
We had booked a German-speaking tour guide and we received an English one. That is the only thing we did not like about this trip. The trip was very well organized and truly worth experiencing, especially Hallstatt. The tour guide and the bus driver were very friendly and attentive.
Excellent day in the snow plus beautiful scenery. A very friendly guide, Izzy, who made us want to discover. The program respected by all, despite the distances, is worth a visit to admire the Austrian hinterland. In Salzburg the Christmas market still open , a really festive atmosphere. Hallstatt small village nestled in the heart of the mountains, very picturesque, with its shops , is a place not to be missed. On the other hand, restaurants are quickly crowded, small cafeterias stormed. You have to plan on having cash.
Bad service - on the first day we were not picked up at the hotel and claimed that we had not paid the extra for pick-up at the hotel. We complained and were told that we could take the trip the next day with pick-up at the hotel and that we could pay the extra cash to the driver. Once again, we were not picked up. After a second complaint, we have not yet been refunded the travel money that was paid. I do not recommend.
Imposible solucionarlo a esa hora. Igual, el chofer paró en una estación de servicio. Poca guía. Se hizo muy largo.
