This was an amazing tour! It’s great for the start of a trip, or at the end. It’s a walking tour that summarizes the history of the city with examples everywhere. History is literally hiding in plain sight. The guide is extremely knowledgeable, and answered all questions in great detail. He has an enthusiasm and interest in the history which make for an entertaining and engaging experience. 10/10!
It felt like a nice leisurely stroll through Vienna with a friend who is really passionate about Vienna and the Habsburgs - from Roman Vienna to modern day Vienna and its political system. He showed all the hidden gems of Vienna. What a treat indeed!
I would give this tour 6 stars if it were possible! I travel internationally a few times a year and try to take multiple tours at each destination, and Moritz is truly an exceptional guide. His guiding style is the perfect combination of historian, entertainer, caretaker, and city expert. His knowledge of Vienna and the surrounding region was absolutely impeccable. Instead of just a standard walk-about filled with dry historical facts, the tour felt like a living historical timeline. Moritz carefully laid out the context and relevance for each building and landmark, making the entire experience incredibly memorable and pleasant to listen to. I would gladly take any tour Moritz delivers, and I highly encourage you to do the same!
Moritz was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. He was flexible when we had to adjust our time due to extreme heat, met us earlier in the day so it wouldn't be so uncomfortable, and provided the the best city tour I've ever had. He started from the earliest times of Vienna's history to the present, showing us so many different places, monuments, buildings and artwork. We got a true sense of the history of the city. He is a wonderful storyteller and knew everything about Vienna past and present. If you want a comprehensive tour with a fabulous tour guide look no further than Moritz.

Moritz was incredibly knowledgeable and a fun tour guide. He even did the tour when it was just two of us. For first timers to Vienna (and Austria), he gave a lot of history which helped understand and appreciate the country more. I think of it as seeing it in a different light. I definitely recommend starting your trip with this walking tour.

If you’re first time in Vienna - do not hesitate and book this walking tour! Moritz is an excellent storyteller, he’s local and loves his city and enjoys showing it! He guided us through the time and history of Vienna with ease and enthusiasm. Because of the cold and humid weather, we stopped for a traditional coffee and strudel, and after this short break we felt almost like a family. :) Moritz created a heartwarming atmosphere, it felt as if we were walking with a good friend showing us Vienna. We highly recommend Moritz as your guide, he went above and beyond on our walking tour.
Maurice was a very Charming and Knowledgeable guide who displayed a real interest in the history of his country. He brought the history to life through a combination of stories and facts. We expected a lighter tour of the highlights of Vienna, we got a pretty exhausting detailed historical tour. Quite confusing and boring after the first hour, we really had to struggle to finish the tour.
We got disappointed in Vienna, we booked 4 walking tours and they took us to the same spots more or less and were so similar to one another. We were looking for a unique experience and we did not find it unfortunately. Therefore we cannot suggest it.
Very long walk in the city center, it must have been around 7lkms that we walked. I could not move for hours after the tour, since my shoes were not comfortable for such a long walk. Make sure you are fit enough to do this! Otherwise no reason to book...
I found this tour quite boring, nothing exciting or extraordinary throughout the walk. I could have saved my money and visited the places by myself. There a lot of self guided tours in the city that cost much cheaper and you can take them according to your own pace. Save your money!
My dad and I traveled to 3 different countries on this trip, went on 8 different tours, and Moritz was our favourite guide out of all of them. From his vast knowledge, to his kindness, and sense of humor, Moritz made our first day in Austria a memorable one. His storytelling ability and passion for Vienna makes the city come alive - it felt like history was happening right there in front of us. We learned so much about everything - Vienna's past and present included. This tour was fun, fascinating, and I'm so grateful I booked it! I completely fell in love with Vienna!
... not for children. We heard a lot of terror stories related to assassinations of emperors, suicides etc that made our children feel a bit uncomfortable. The burial procedure also included some very creepy descriptions. Apart from this the tour was okay.
Maybe different mentality? The tour did not fascinate us unfortunately., pretty plain and boring. Something was missing from it. we somehow lost our interest in the middle of it and left earlier after excusing ourselves, History is nice, but too much of it can make you sick. Especially when you are on holidays!
Impossible to understand where the meeting point was. Lots of people everywhere and we were supposed to look for some bicycles? Took us very long to find out and the others had already left the spot. Think twice when you meet people in an open space with hundreds of people around. It is very confusing.
We learned so much from this tour, but the most important we learned is that although the Habsburgs and Hitler were planning to take over the world... the people and God put an end to their plans! No matter how big you think you are, there is always a lesson for you to learn! Their failures taught them that being humble is the best solution. Arrogance always gets punished in the end! I booked this tour and the guide was actually an actor! I think he should have gone after his dreams and purchase a career as a comedian. He truly cracked some jokes that made me laugh even hours after the tour! Thanks for the fun :)
The guide did not show up for the tour and also had his phone off when my hubby tried to call him,. Booking number 1317151507. It seems they try to cover up the guide, because my husband already made a complaint and they did not publish his review. Shameful!
We found the guide okay but the tour was quite boring. We do not need to have every stone explained, and we kind of got lost with all the stories and historical facts. The buildings were beautiful though.
I went to the meeting place ten minutes earlier but nobody showed up. I tried to call the guide but the phone was turned off. If they were decent they would have sent a refund!!! But money gone. Don't trust them!
I was the only one on the tour. Moritz gave me the full experience and tour. He was also able to take some pics of me which was nice being a solo traveler. It was a great way to get the lay of the land for my next few days in Vienna

I enjoyed the sightseeing in the city, the stories of my guide Moritz were great, he went into details and covered a big part of the city. I just found the route somehow tiring, it was a long walk!

This is by far the best history/culture tour we have been on. I have never been on a longer-than-2-hours tour after which I remember every single detail. Moritz's power of story telling is unlike any other. He takes you on a journey through different time periods and ties it all together beautifully. He is a wealth of knowledge and has so much passion about the history of Vienna. Can't recommend more, and it is amazing deal.
We had a terrific afternoon with Moritz showing us the most interesting and beautiful places in Vienna. Moritz was easy going, friendly and tailored the tour to our interests. He was very knowledgeable and made the history come to life with great anecdotes and stories. He was very patient with our questions and answered them fully. Moritz really seemed to go out of his way to ensure we enjoyed the tour. I would highly recommend him, and would definitely ask for him again if I’m ever back in Vienna for another visit.
We had an excellent tour with Moritz Hantschel, who blended stories of the history and culture of the city with interesting facts and fun trivia. He led a very well organized walk through the old city and patiently answered every question with flawless English and an easy-going manner. He took into several historic churches to point out interesting key features and made great historical connections between famous people. He covered a lot of ground and topics, without making us feel like we moved too fast or too slow. Plus he offered many great recommendations for what more to see and where to get some great apple strudel with an Einspänner.

Excellent guide and great tour. At the beginning of the tour Moritz asked me what I was interested in (architecture,history) and was able to cater the tour to my interests. He had a very broad knowledge of Vienna, and was able to relay this well. In addition, he made many recommendations for things to do and places to eat.
Our guide was so knowledgeable, grew up here his whole life. It turns out it was just our group on the tour so it was super personal and we loved hearing all his detailed knowledge

Great tour. Try to get Moritz as your guide. He was fantastic. He asked us at the start what we were particularly interested in. We replied the history of Vienna. And boy did we learn about that during the tour. While we had spent several days in Vienna before taking this tour, we missed so much about the city and its history that Moritz and this tour explained. This tour made our trip to Vienna!
We booked the tour in advance from home as it was very interesting described. Our guide Moritz informed us in advance of the meeting point. It started on time at 5pm, but we were the only ones who booked this experience. So we had a very private tour with Moritz. Moritz has brought us very close to Vienna from the beginning to the present. He has discussed with us all the issues that move Vienna, whether politically, economically or urbanly. Of course, the beautiful architecture and the Viennese flair were not neglected. It was so entertaining that we even strolled through Vienna for half an hour longer. We felt so incredibly comfortable in the hours with Moritz that we can only recommend this tour. Also you should not be put off by the three hours duration, as we had engaged a very cozy gait and it was very relaxed.
