My husband and I spent a good two hours at the museum. It was worth the cost; however, it turned out to be unnecessary to purchase skip-the-line tickets in advance as there was not a line and we could have easily walked up. We did go during the week, so very possible that weekends may be crowded.

Weltmuseum WienThe Emperor and the world at large – in the Hofburg Palace on Vienna’s Ringstrasse The Weltmuseum Wien is one of the world’s leading ethnographical museums, situated in the Hofburg Palace on Vienna’s Ringstrasse. In 14 distinct exhibition galleries, the focus is on unique cultural treasures from all over the world. The aim is to communicate to visitors the cultural diversity, stories and ways of life in an entertaining way. The highlights of the Museum represent more than 500 years of high-quality collecting activities on the part of the Habsburgs – among them objects from the Cabinet of Curiosities of Emperor Rudolf II, the unique Mexican feather headdress »Penacho«, the world-famous collection of James Cook, and objects from the voyages of discovery and research of the 19th century. The gallery of the breathtaking Hall of Columns also provides access to two collections of the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna. The Imperial Armoury is packed full of magnificent suits of armour and decorative weapons that attest to chivalric values and important occasions at court. The Collection of Historic Musical Instruments (from Autumn 2018) comprises the original instruments of some of the world’s greatest composers such as Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven.

If you go early there’s no line at all A lot of museums close by They open at 10am Be there by 9:30 and no line at all
Great exhibition, lots of history , very interesting information. Great location. Excellent front desk agents.
Went as the museum was opening. Got to check in coats complimentary. Staff was friendly and informative. Got to see Moctezuma ‘s penacho which was my primary objective.
Cool historical facts. Family friendly and easy to get started with maps provided. We enjoy seeing the Mexican history pieces most.
There was no skip the line option. We still had to go to ticket booth and then get in the regular line. The agent said “they sold you something that doesn’t exist”
We had a great time. There were many awesome things to see there. It’s a little dark and hard to read the captions but overall a must see. Lots of diversity for the different cultures.
We got our tickets on line and exchange them at the museum. Great museum to visit, has objects of all around the world. You must have enough time because there are a lot of objects yo see.
The Welt Museum is great. It's "anthropology" focused. Different cultures. In my (limited) experience, you didn't really need to buy an advance ticket. But it was nice and convenient. Their cafe happened to be excellent (limited selection but excellent quality.) Two hours is a good amount of time.
The best museum that I have visited in My life. Thats because, beside The vast collection, including from some of The most important paitings in The world to middle age artefacts (paralel to The Louvre and The British Museum) The Kunsthistorisches itself is a jewel, with Very elaborared walls, I've neve seen anything like that.
Although I had the skip the line ticket it did not scan but I was still able to enter. There are a lot of artifacts covering so many historical periods and I saw most of it but I was not able to see everything.
The building is very beautiful and very imposing with different ornaments in each room related to the theme. Two floors to visit with several separate sections. Take the audio guide (9€ for 3 people) to have additional information on the tour. Allow between 2 and 3 hours to visit everything and deep audio guide. Little extra, lockers and cloakroom available and free.
Super well recommended. I really liked it and it's super practical. I loved wearing it. It's practical and easy.
I advise to book a table at the bar, a unique experience and of an absolute quality, the whole building is magnificent, including the Egyptian exhibition, has a luggage guard with very handsome ladies (which is rare in Vienna).
One of the must-sees, a small Louvre but a real wealth of collections that will take you from Egyptian antiquity to the end of the 18th century.
