Very interesting, beautiful items of Hapsburg history. Lots of religious items of Christ, and wonderful items of true craftsmanship.

This was the most underrated sight in Vienna: it barely had a mention in travel guides. The Treasury turned out to be a fantastic, unbelievable collection of crowns, jewelry, clothing etc. from the rich past of Austria. An additional bonus was the almost empty rooms while the city was teeming with tourists. I can’t believe our luck that we walked in not expecting that much of beauty and wealth with hardly any visitors!
The Treasury is worth the visit but this ticket wasn’t skip the line as advertised. I had to queue and present my email to get a real ticket. Easier just to queue and buy tickets in that case.
This trip was 2x the price of buying the tickets at the office and came with no guide or audio guide. For an English speaker half the signs don’t translate to English so you don’t know what you’re looking at specifically. Audio guide if you don’t speak German is a must. Do not buy from here it was 35 euros with an audio guide at the place. That said the museum itself is a showstopper. I 100% recommend visiting the museum!
The “Skip-the-line” part was not accurate. I had to get in line to retrieve our tickets. That was very misleading. Thankfully the line wasn’t horrible, but with 2 knee replacements last year 2025, I didn’t need extra standing time. I would recommend this museum but be aware of “skip-the-line” promise.
This is not a ticket, you still have to wait in line at ticket sales and present this voucher to receive a ticket. You do not skip the line.
Incredibly boring and is very dark inside too and hard to see. A very skippable attraction. Also stifling on a hot day. Skip.
We arranged for a private tour (90 euros+museum admission) for the two of us. Excellent. The guide, Lauren, was very well-versed in the history and offered insight and perspective on significance, timeframe, and politics of the different eras. Thank you!
We really enjoyed seeing all of the various precious artifacts in this treasury museum. The audio guide was well done (we were able to get one for each member of the family) and you could choose which items you wanted to learn more about. In addition to lots of crowns and jewels, you can also see a huge emerald, a "unicorn horn" (narwhal tusk), religious artifacts, portraits, and the Book of the Gospels, used by the Holy Roman emperors. We spent about 90 minutes here and could have stayed a bit longer, but saw everything that we wanted to.
Do NOT buy! Treasury is great, but 'Skip the line' gets u absolutely nothing - u still have to queue up to exchange the voucher to actual ticket. It doesnt reserve /quarantees your admission on that day. It doesnt cost u any less!! You just pay the middle man by booking this service.
So convenient as the line does get long. Print your tickets, but if you can’t, the attendant will write down your booking number and print one for you.
This is a great follow-up to the Art/Ancient History museum in Vienna since it is exclusively about Vienna and Austria. Easy to get to and fantastic permanent and visiting collections.
The exhibition was ok, but this ticket is very misleading because it does not allow you to skip the line at all. We followed the skip the line signs and the employee checking tickets told us that we had to line up to get proper tickets since we did not book on their website. The skip the line feature was the reason why we purchased on Viator so I'm giving this 1 star.
Do not use Viator!!! They sold me these tickets for a day of the week that the museum is regularly closed. And now, they have not responded to a request for a refund or new tickets.
The voucher purchased online didn’t permit entry. We still needed to wait in line to exchange our vouchers for tickets. But we did have a guaranteed entry, which is why we give it two stars.
It was very nice, but there were more capes and cloaks then there were jewels and I was comparing the jewels to the Crown jewels of England. No comparison. But I’m glad I got to see them.
The Imperial Treasury was truly an amazing collection and well worth the visit. So many items to see we had a pick our favorites as our time was limited. Could easily spend the better half of a day here. Would have given this 5 stars however our tickets did not scan so we had to get in line to exchange them for a paper ticket. Not a problem just an unexpected issue. I would have gotten in line as soon as we arrived as the line was short however by the time we realized they didn’t work the line was somewhat long.
Enjoyed the exhibit and the fine clothing. Especially the embroidery. The jewels were very nice but nothing compared to the collection at London Tower.
I love jewelry from all time periods and have seen some amazing pieces around the world. I was expecting some exciting bling from such a long reigning family, but it was mostly ceremonial robes & religious relics. A couple amazing crowns but no personal period jewelry of the family etc. At least one display of women’s items would be warranted. Hard to find but quick to get in. 16 euros for adults/12 euros for seniors. Storage lockers provided for backpacks, it cost a euro, but you get it back when you put the key back in the lock. If you’ve got nothing else to do, it’s a good look around. But I saw more interesting things at the Dorotheum Auction House about two blocks away!
Interesting and long way to visit all dresses and jewels. There is no queueing to get entrance ticket. The entrance is hidden when being in the square.
Once in the exhibition it was most interesting. The getting in was not as smooth, as one would have hoped. The ticket was recognized by the staff, but not by the scanner. So there was a lot of queuing involved to sort out this problem.
Skip the line ticket received was not accepted at the museum. Barcode did not register. Had to join standard ticket queue to get exchange. 45 minutes wasted.
This is the slowest way to visit the Imperial Treasury. The "ticket" that is issued by Viator is only a voucher for the ticket you need to enter. You are not skipping the ticket line. It's actually much worse, because you have to stand in the regular ticket line, explain where you bought your voucher, wait for a supervisor to intervene, and then, finally, you have a ticket. To make matters worse, you are paying more than the standard ticket price. This is a borderline scam.
No one was there, no guide, we had to buy tickets again, twice we've had bad experiences with this company, never a good one.
Stunning displays of Imperial jewels and robes as well as pictures, religious items and such. All labeled in English as well. Very happy to report that photography is permitted. We bought tickets on line, good all day, no need to schedule time.
Crowns ,robes, jewels! All fantastic. Beautifully displayed. Very manageable museum to enjoy exhibits. Audio guide easy to use and indispensable to the experIence! Highly recommend
The Mrs was keen to see the imperial treasures. It’s a compact museum you can see all in under one hour. Interesting for those disposed to jewellery I guess.
Amazing historical artifacts that are so well taken care of. Unlike other areas housing crown jewels, you have the time to take in the detail of each piece. It is amazing to see how thoughtfully each display was presented and the historical context provided was spot on! We used the Vienna Pass to enter and it was a highlight.
This is an amazing collection of artifacts and jewels. We are we the USA and almost nothing was younger than our country. It is amazing that the collection was preserved through the years. Well done.
Unforgettable experience. Rare collection of artifacts. Having heard of many of them, Great to see them in real life!!
The ticket states ‘skip the line’ tickets but actually there is no such thing at all venues we attended in Vienna - it’s generally not something they do there. The Viator tickets work well in Vienna. The actual treasury is interesting but it’s not quite like the Crown Jewels in the Tower of London. We also booked the Carriage Museum at the Schonbrunn Palace via Viator and that held far more interest for us as it was light and airy in there. It’s really down to personal taste.
It has been educational with the knowledge of the medieval times of the royals. The robes and ornaments bring to light of historical times and culture of influence.
The Imperial Treasury is very poorly signposted and even when you ask for directions these are poor. The other thing you need to consider is the e-ticket skip the Q isn’t correct. You actually have to go to the kiosk entrance and get them to print out your tickets!!! The other thing is that you’re ticket doesn’t come with the phone handset that is another €5 per person.🫣
I don't think you need to get these tickets in advance, but the Treasury is worth visiting, if a bit overwhelming.
The museum itself was impressive and very well laid out. The amount of treasure is considerable, almost overwhelming. However at this location there’s no “skip the line”. You have to wait at the ticket window with everyone else and show the cashier the bar code then he asks to see the email so he can record the confirmation number. Then he gives you a paper ticket! We found this out the hard way when we bypassed the ticket window and tried to show our Viator bar code. We were sent to the ticket line- as described above.
Great tour and our guide was amazing! Robert was very knowledgeable and kind and answered all of our many questions! This was well worth the money to have a private tour and the Treasury was a must stop in Vienna.
An impressive exhibition of the old Austrian treasure. The explanations in rooms give a better insight to the history of Austria. Worth visiting!
Not only are the wondrous treasures of the Habsburgs displayed here but they come with explanations of where they fit onto the history of the Donau Monarchy. Would have given 5 stars if the Ainkhürn Sword had been on display, really missed that.
The tour itself was fabulous! The exhibits were well done and had English descriptions! We did not get the audio guide so can’t speak to that! Only reason we did not give it 5 is that the skip the line did not work! We had to get a barcoded ticket that worked so stood in line anyway. Fortunately at this time of year was not too long.
All the skip the line passes in Vienna required you to exchange the victor ticket for tickets at the venue. It was invonveniyand would have been easier to have just purchased the ticket at h Ty e event.
Located near the Volkstheater metro station in a wing of the Hofburg palace. It's a collection of crowns, jewels and clothes belonged to the imperial age. The path is structured and the audioguide allows to understand the context. The visit duration can vary from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending if you listen to all the explanations of the audioguide or you just take a walk inside the museum. Ticket is 14 € and audioguide is 5 €.
Hofburg is an enormous complex of palaces, gardens and other sites. I set my mind on visiting the imperial appartments, but in the maze of Hofburg I didn't know where it was exactly situated. By pure chance I visited the imperial treasury first for the very simple reason that this was the only building that opened at 9h instead of 10h. I didn't regret my visit at all, my visit to the imperial treasury became the highlight of the day. The number of "treasures" that are shown here is downright impressive with a vast collection of different items, ranging from swords to tapestries. The audio guide costs a bit extra, but adds a lot of extra information making this a very complete experience. The only downside I can think of is that the opulence can become somewhat tiresome after a while.
We went with our guide so he was able to get us in immediately. We may not have originally done this but we enjoyed the treasury at the Residenz in Munich. I will say this was even bigger with crowns and robes from Austria but also so many from its Empire. The Bohemian crown (Czech Republic) is here as it once was a part of the Austrian Empire as well as the most notable and historic piece of the collection the Crown of the Holy Roman Empire which belonged to the Habsburgs for 400 years. Finally there were simply other great pieces like a large religious piece made of Amber and silver with gold plate replica of the Mary Column in Vienna. We enjoyed a brief stay here to see the treasures of the Austrian Empire.
Taking a walk through the treasury is a nice way to spend an hour. The collection of jewelry and artifacts presented is quite beautiful. The crowds are also not so bad, even for as small of a building it is.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed the tour of this Hapsburg Treasury. There were fascinating items and the museum flowed well. The audio device was helpful but not as useful as at Schoss Schonbrunn. As other reviewers have mentioned, many of the exhibits are a bit dark. A visitor will appreciate this museum to the degree that they enjoy history of the period exhibited.
There are some impressive gowns and regalia in this museum, but if you're expecting something like the English crown jewels it isn't that. A lot of religious artifacts as well as imperial regalia. All signs in German and English which is great. Overall, good for a quick visit, maybe an hour, but a bit overpriced for a small museum. Be aware also it's very dark, due to the age of the objects on display
The treasury ticket for one person is around 12 Euros. You can even have a guide while wandering around.
I'm no expert on museum layout or Hapsburg history but I found this museum to be a wonderful place. They have artifacts on display near paintings of the king holding the artifacts which was fascinating to me. I had never seen an ermine cape before and didn't realize that the black marks on the cloak are the tails of the ermine. The ecclesiastical treasury was beautiful and fascinating. I always wonder whether what we are seeing is actually what they say but people certainly believed it and it is an interesting look at old Christian beliefs. For someone from the states, which are devoid of royalty and their trappings, this was a really awesome place. I highly recommend it.
Interesting spot and great items to see. Was dark inside and hard to see clearly. Some guided tour groups blocked us taking pics as there were in front of some good spots for a long time
This really is a treasure trove. They have gems and relics covering about 2000 years. Seeing the crowns and the "salieri" are just peak experiences from many, many wonderful moments. Highly recommendable.
