On the reservation ticket I was not informed that the Sisi museum and some rooms of the living quarters of the museum were closed. They only mentioned that the museum hours were different. The museum itself offered a 25% discount, which, I believe, was not given to us. The garden visit and the guide were nice.

Wonderful tour! Our guide was very knowledgeable and engaging! I definitely recommend this tour while visiting Vienna.
We had an excellent tour guide but I didn’t catch her name. She was around 60 and originally from Germany and her name started with U, I think. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the history, even when people asked random historical questions. She also had a quick wit that kept me engaged through the 2.5 hrs. The actual museum was a bit narrow which made points of significant overcrowding. The contents of the museum were interesting but seemed like insufficient for a museum with that sort of cost. So, our host tour guide was excellent but museum was just OK.
Mario was very accommodating and easy to communicate with me being late. The tour is slow paced, lots of standing. Not that much to see in the museum but includes outdoor area as well.
14 of us were left in the rain, for 30+ minutes, without being notified that our guide had an "emergency". Booked by multiple websites (not only Viator) NONE of them notified ANY of us. We EACH had to call and wait on hold, then wait for replies. Be warned!
They canceled the trip at 7:10 PM the night before. Beware of booking. There was no explanation to us as we why.
We enjoyed this tour. Our guide Matt was very knowledgeable and easy to listen to. Recommend this tour.
Gabby the tour guide gave a great tour. She was very knowledgeable and presented the information in an interesting manner.
We had Mario guide us today. He is a proud Austrian and his grandfather actually met the Emperor, Franz Josef, face to face! I love having a guide with personal interest in a place. Downsides- it would have been good to have a what’s app message first on exactly where in the busy forecourt we would meet. As other guides do. Eg. “Outside Starbucks, or, by the Roman ruins”. Other downside- walking and talking at a snail’s pace gets very tiring physically. I’m a fit hiker about to go 8 days hiking in the Alps, so it’s not that I’m not able enough- but it is easier to stand still and hear a short lecture then walk faster in silence right to the next point of interest, than to stroll slowly for an hour. It’s also less tiring mentally as you have short breaks to gather your thoughts rather than constant monologue. This was my problem with Mario, even though he knew so much and gave so much. He talked without ceasing for 2 ½ hours. I don’t think he stopped talking for a minute. Even in the toilet break he was still explaining cultural things while we were in the toilet! We could hear it all through the ear pieces. I imagine this could be tough on his voice, but it’s also quite exhausting listening non stop for all that time. Mario just knows so much. It’s unbelievable! I think this tour would be better if he maybe shortened a bit what he wants to say and gives people a chance to think of their own questions. It’s hard to think when there is no break in the talk. That said, this tour was very well planned, to the minute, and Mario had specific things he wanted to highlight at each place. We finished about 2 minutes overtime and I absolutely loved that we finished by looking at the Lippizaner horses in their stalls. And again, Mario knew all about how the stallions did not attack each other on stage, why their ears were pointing up, how and where they trained, and he took us to watch a short video on them. This was an excellent tour, even though it popped the balloon of my rather romanticised ideas about Empress Sisi.
Guide was very knowledgeable and easy to understand. Guide kept everyone together and provided tons of relevant history and stories about Sisi and that whole era
Waited half an hour and guide never turned up. Company has promised refund but this has totally messed up our plans for today. Also booked a walking tour with same company yesterday and if I hadn't messaged the guide for that one, he wouldn't have turned up either. Will not use this disorganised company again.
A most enjoyable visit, Alex the guide was very knowledgeable. The group size was 21 persons so not an overly big group. The meeting place was easy to find and the tour was done at a steady comfortable pace.
No clear instructions on meeting place. I was in the plaza 30 min before and never found the group. If the guide would have reached out to me I would have been able to join. Will never again book with TripAdvisor
Very interesting look at the life of Empress Elizabeth -- Sisi -- at this beautiful museum and gardens. Don't miss this treasure on your next trip to Budapest.
Sebastian was our tour guide for the Hofburg -Sissi Museum- Hofreitschule- garden tour- I was disappointed because we did not go into Hofreitschule or to the gardens as described by the tour operator. We found out later that Sebastian was a stand in for his colleague. He had good knowledge of the subject but I feel like he got lost a bit at times. Without the radio with earpieces to amplify his voice it was very difficult to hear him in the crowded rooms of the museum. I would not recommend this tour.
It is recommended to al visitors in Vienna, to have a realistic picture on the society and costumes of the past centuries, not only a description of historic facts or architectures. We appreciated a lot the narration about the relation between Francesco Giuseppe and his wife, that is distorted by the well known movie. Very very good, many thanks to Martina, our guide in this visit
Great tour with lots of interesting history. There is so much to learn about the Habsburg dynasty and this is a key palace of their rule over the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. Would visit if you enjoy this history.
This walking tour was the perfect way to experience the city. Our local guide was fantastic—energetic, passionate, and incredibly knowledgeable. They brought the history to life with fascinating stories, moving beyond just facts and dates. The pacing was excellent, covering key landmarks and hidden gems without ever feeling rushed. It provided great context.
Our tour guide was amazing. She had a wealth of information and facts that I had not read about. Timing was good, enough time to move through the museums but didn't lag. This was especially important due to the heat of the day.
It was a fun and informative tour. Our guide, Mario, was fantastic. I would recommend this tour for anyone visiting Vienna.
Wonderful guide, gave us just enough information for an informative visit, highlighting the complex history of Sisi and the palace. The new audio devices were also fantastic and allowed you to explore and still hear the information. The guide was great - even with the length of visit being quite long it was very enjoyable. The Admission fee felt expensive but I also don't know what the average going rate is for a tour. The atmosphere at the museum was quite crowded but it didn't feel that way at all, the guide made many stops/breaks for water and rest. This tour is best for young adults and adults as children most likely don't have the mental space for the amount of info.
Our guide was not well organized. We ended up standing and waiting to gain admission to the site. Once inside she did not communicate well and was difficult to hear. At several of the rooms she said things had been moved as though she had not conducted a tour there for some time. We paid for a two and a half hour tour and she was done in less than two hours. It would have been much better to go in on our own with the audio guide. We did let the tour operator, Roso Travel, know. With a good audio guide, why book a tour at all?
Very good understanding of Austrian history and culture. Enthusiastically delivered with extra and fun detail. Wonderful tour.
Reasonable price. Our guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. His explanations were very clear. He organized everything very well and stories made the tour informative. The atmosphere was relaxation. The tour of Sisi Museum was really excellent. There were three people remaining after Sisi Museum, the guide still strived to explain remaining parts. Amazing tour experience.
I had a great time. The guide was easy to follow and took us through the exhibition. All the sudden, we were finished, it felt like only five minutes passed.
Hilga was super guide and she told us a lot of things we didn’t know about Austria it was amazing experience
Wow, this is difficult to say. I love visiting palaces, and the Hofburg is beautiful, but the Sisi Museum was a letdown. The guide escorting us was excellent, but the price doesn’t justify the time and money. I’m not a big Sisi fan, so that probably plays a part. A much better use of your time would be the Austrian National Library or the other museums and churches nearby. Sorry — it hurts me to say this.
Rene was an excellent tour guide. He answered questions and provided historical knowledge. Very friendly.
Tour guide was knowledgeable but had an irritating habit of asking too many questions throughout the tour. Who do you think did this…or can you guess etc. etc.. and when nobody answered, she had an irritated/exasperated response…as if we were all just dumb tourists, despite the fact we somehow managed to make it here from around the world! We just wanted to learn stuff, not to be insulted! Just saying
This was a fascinating tour. Our guide(I wish I could remember his name!!) was entertaining and a bit of a comedian. Had a good time!
Christine, our guide, was an amazing source of historical knowledge. How she kept track of centuries, dates, buildings, and the ruling Viennese family tree is beyond me. We never felt rushed but still covered an enormous amount of information. The Sisi Museum could use some updating, but Christine was a very good shepherd. A walk through the beautiful gardens to view monuments and government buildings provided some fresh air. This tour is a must to get you started in Vien.
The tour was excellent—well worth the money. Our guide Gabby was amazing. She is a Vienna native and knew lots of facts about Vienna and about the palace that you won’t find in a guidebook. She was kind and thoughtful about pointing out restrooms, answering questions, and even took pictures for any travelers who wanted pictures together.
Overall very good tour. Covered everything as advertised. Tour guide was amazing. Speaking almost continuously full the entire 2.5 hours.
Excellent tour of the Sisi museum, gardens and the surrounding areas. Our tour guide, Mario, was very informative and did a great job keeping all of us engaged until the end of the tour.
Our guide absolutely made this tour a hit. She provided excellent historical background to highlight the context of Sisi and the times in which she lived. The tour does involve a climb of probably 65-70 stairs to reach the Royal Apartments, but it is well worth it. There was on break during the 2.5 hour tour, so you might want to take a bit of water along for hydration.
Lots of great info on Sisi and a nice orientation walk around the Hapsburg historic area. Our guide Gabi was great!
We had an excellent tour with Mario. He was so knowledgeable and we learned so much on the tour. He kept our kids engaged throughout the tour! It was such a great time spent and I’m so glad we signed up for it.
Mario our tour guide was fantastic. The Palace is beautiful and well worth a visit. The SiSi museum is also very interesting and the guided tour is worth it.
Mario was amazing! Kept us moving along, had very interesting things to say and mentioned much about current Vienna life. Loved it!
Alexander was our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable with the history of the imperial family. We enjoyed the tour very much!
If you like history you will enjoy this tour. It is a good tour with beautiful scenery. For the price you can’t beat it.
Our guide Harald was friendly, outgoing, knowledgeable. Gave not just movie version of Sisi. Would recommend.
First, our guide was wonderful! He was polite, respectful, knowledgeable and very knowledgeable. He shared information during the tour that we never would have known had we done the tour without a guide. He made sure all of the group was comfortable and treated each as if we were friends. He made this a great experience and made us feel valued as patrons. Great job!
Mirko gave my mom and I a phenomenal tour! Not only incredibly knowledgeable, but hilarious and passionate about Viennese history. You could tell he really wanted to be there with our group.
Mirko is a gem- funny, kind, tremendously well informed. We had a great time!
Our guide, Harry, was first rate. Very knowledgeable, funny, and entertaining. Would definitely recommend.
Excellent tour great guide who had wonderful knowledge and a great sense of humour his musical knowledge was also very good and entertaining
Amazing tour ! Our tour guide Alex was so knowledgeable and made it worth it ! I went into tour thinking it was going to be fast and superficial but was wrong! I was so intrigued to know more after this tour .
The tour gives a comprehensive history of Empress Sisi and the Habsburg family in 1700's. It also provided a look at the apartments of the royal palace and the inner workings of the palace.
Tour was very comprehensive with a tour guide with complete knowledge of the attractions and history. Tour also included inside palace Tour that some tours omit.
