A lovely experience! The atmosphere was beautiful, the service was great, and we really enjoyed our time at Butterfly. Definitely worth a visit

Very easy. I would recommend this process for anyone. It was super simple and saved us time. You should do it.
Great value for money, €10 per ticket. It’s very small and short but there are some really beautiful butterflies. Very nice if you’re in the area and well worth a visit.
We bought tickets upon arriving, early morning. It is a nice small piece paradise in the city center. It takes 15 min tops to visit it and it can get very crowded. There is a path you follow and see a lot of butterflies in an Amazonian like forrest. Nice but do not know if worth the money.
The actual place where the butterflies can be viewed is much smaller than the pictures show. It can be overcrowded at times, making it difficult to move around.
You walk in and Vienna disappears almost immediately. The air turns warm and humid, the windows fog slightly, everything around you goes aggressively green, and suddenly butterflies are drifting past your head like this tiny greenhouse decided normal personal space no longer applies. That's easily the best part of the Schmetterlinghaus. There are genuinely a lot of butterflies here, not the kind of place where you spend five minutes desperately hunting for one. The setting itself is beautiful too. Dense tropical plants, flowers, little paths, rocks and water, all of it making the place feel much more alive than a simple exhibition room. Slow down and actually stand somewhere for a while, and it turns out to be surprisingly relaxing. Butterflies settle on leaves, vanish into the vegetation, occasionally fly close enough that you instinctively duck your head out of the way. There's one fairly major catch though: it's tiny. Approach it like a normal tourist attraction and just walk through, and you could genuinely be done in around five minutes. Even with photos and a proper look around, this isn't somewhere most people spend a lot of time. At roughly €10 admission, that starts to make the value feel questionable. The trick is not treating it like something you need to complete. Sit with it a bit. Look for different butterflies. Take your time. Enjoy the strange little tropical bubble sitting in the middle of Vienna. Do that, and the whole experience makes a lot more sense. Also worth knowing: it gets genuinely warm inside. Great for the butterflies, considerably less great for sweaty tourists in August. A beautiful little place with plenty of butterflies and a genuinely pleasant atmosphere, but "little" is doing some heavy lifting here.
We first visited here over 25 years ago. Hasn't changed since then and really doesn't need to. The butterflies have a nice sanctuary an they're not afraid to fly close a stay on a flower/leaf for you to get a close up view you might not normally have.
This was amazing, well set out, loads of butterflies to see, very atmospheric. Only €10 per person.
The garden itself is nice and warming during the winter period. There are only a few species of butterflies and they are quite shy - they do not like coming very close to the visitors. But it was a nice experience overall.
Very unique and enjoyable. You only need about an hour to see it so you can fit it in most anytime on your trip.
A lovely hidden gem in Schmetterlinghaus. The historic Art Nouveau greenhouse creates a magical atmosphere, filled with tropical plants and beautiful butterflies flying freely around you. For around €10, it was absolutely worth visiting — peaceful, unique, and very charming. The butterflies truly feel magical and make the whole experience special. One small downside: there are not many benches to sit and simply enjoy watching the butterflies for longer. Still, it was a beautiful experience and a wonderful place to visit while in Vienna.
There are not many butterflies to see in the enclosure and you have to be at the venue very early to see anything
A beautiful attraction in the heart of Vienna. Various types of butterflies fly around you. A must visit place if you are in Vienna.
Absolutely beautiful. We went around lunch time. Mid week and it was pleasant and not too crowded. We spent about an hour on here, wandering around and we saw lots of colourful, beautiful butterflies. The passage ways are quite narrow , so probably wouldn't be as nice at peak season times when super busy. Well worth the entry fee. I would love to return next time we are in Vienna
Staff were so sweet and the butterfly’s were incredible! The greenhouse is a bit humid as expected, so be sure to hang your coat! Additionally, there’s a staircase that leads to a higher view, it’s a must see along with the Koi fish in the pond. The entire experience was wonderful.
I never managed to go to this activity because I had pre booked two tickets via Viator for the history museum in Vienna, which where both fake “skip the line”.I had to wait in the line to exchange them for real tickets and then in a line to scan them so I can get in the museum. This info was nowhere on the tickets I paid for.So I never managed to go to this on time though i had paid for it. Don’t book tickets via Viator it’s a scam.
Very good would give it a 4.5 if I was able to. Lots of butterfly’s to see even in October and very good atmosphere.the only thing I would change would be how many people allowed to get in.
It would be okay if it was free. The fewest butterflies I have encountered in a butterfly house. We went around twice just because it seemed like there should be more. Looking at butterflies is cool, so I suppose it is something you should do.
It was really nice, many different types of butterflies in sight, and the enclosure has many different tropical plants as well! The enclosure is really small, but there is no time limit, I did two rounds of it and was able to enjoy the butterflies for longer. Sadly, there was no film in display. It would also be nice if more info on the plants was available!
This Butterfly House is located outside a beautiful park, and the building itself is designed in a very appealing art nouveau style. Overall, it is nice to support the butterfly’s conservation, but do not expect to see many butterfly’s. There are maybe about 5 different kinds but I feel as though there should have been more quantity’s of butterfly’s within the green house. It will take you about 15-20mins to tour the whole house, although you are welcome to stay as long as you would like.
Great place to visit. A lot of Linda of butterflys. You can stay as long as you want so you don’t have to be in hurry. I recomnded that place for everyone
VERY CONVENIENT , GREAT VARIETY ON FRUITS, VERY LARGE VARIETY OF FRESH BAKERY PRODUCTS AND A LARGE NUMBER OF COLD REFRESHMENTS WITH A BIG NUMBER OF OFFERS AND LOTS OF SWEET AND SAVOURY SNACKS. ALSO THE DRINKS ARE ENDLESS NOT TO MENTION THE CHOICES YOU HAVE ON WATER BOTH STILL AND SPARKLING
The tropical gardens inside this butterfly house were far more beautiful than any of the palace gardens in Vienna! It's a small place, lots of beautiful butterflies, but doesn't take more than about 30 minutes to go through. Beware, on hot days it's like a steambath in there.
Really nice experience. It’s a small place but there’s butterflies flying everywhere and it’s so pretty.
It was cold and wet outside so we decided a dose of the tropics was needed. At EU8 for seniors it was a bargain because we got to warm up too. Plenty of butterflies and tropical flowers to see and it's hard to believe the ones with the beautiful blue wings have ugly brown undersides. Worth a visit especially if you have kids.
Lovely place and buttetflies! The reason i gave a 3 star was because people who queued up (without ticket) got very offended when i went right up to the counter to exchange the pre-purchased tickets! Was called all sorts of names. The management can do better than this.!!
At euro 10 entrance per person it is a bit expensive, can walk round the experience in about 10 minutes. It does take longer as it is extremely busy and everyone has to wait . Only see maybe 2/3 different butterflies but they were colourful. Was enjoyable visit but value for money - nope!
It's sooo beautiful, totally recommend it. There were lots of beautiful butterflies and plants, and the atmosphere was amazing.
The butterfly house is a nice and relaxing experience, but it is better to buy the tickets directly at the entrance. The fee is 10€ per person, and viator charged 12.10€ , no reason to pay more!
Beautiful place! Well worth experience. It's not a big place but it looks like a jungle and the butterflies are amazing. If you are lucky you can watch some coming out of their cocoon!
This was one of my favorite things that we did on our trip. It is such a pleasure to see so many different types of butterflies in one place. It is like a hot house so keep that in mind with your clothing.
The Schmetterlinghaus was one of the main attractions I wanted to see in Vienna and it was absolutely worth the time. The ticket is 9,50 EUR (which is very affordable in comparison with other entries). There is a wardrobe where you can leave your coat and other belongings, a film room where they project documentaries in German and a souvenir shop. The greenhouse itself is not very large but it offers a very soothing and joyful experience. Small tip: if you go during winter, do not dress very winterish underneath as there are 26 degrees inside and very humid. The greenhouse is packed with tropical plants and trees and even a waterfall. Butterflies fly all around the greenhouse making the experience very whimsical. We spent about an hour there admiring and taking photos of the different species of butterflies and plants. You can even see the incubators with cocoons in different stages. I would definitely go back.
Not a big place but nonetheless a very sweet experience. Be patient and hang around... you might be lucky enough that these gracious creatures fly on you.
Definitely a bust. It was too crowded for the relatively small space. I saw mostly one kind of butterfly. The visit lasted about 20 minutes. Not worth the time or money.
Nice to see but super crowed and overrated! 15 min max to see everything around. Not a must see, there are other options way better
A tropical greenhouse in the centre of Vienna - it’s something slightly different. Won’t take you too long to go round, it is quite small, but it is also not expensive. The butterflies are beautiful and you can get up close to them. If you’re very lucky one will even land on you!
The house was beautiful, lots of interesting facts about the butterflies. The flowers and butterflies were incredible to see. Great experience, highly recommend. It was hot in mid August but worth the money.
Overall it was pretty. Very quick. Also, the ticket lady was extremely rude! We were such an inconvenience because we used our app and not printed tickets.
Very nice to see the wonderful plants and butterfly's. Crowded at times though and cheaper to purchase the ticket at the place rather then on any website. Half the price at the door! And no wait FYI
Ok, this one was really amazing. It is a smaller tour, but it's worth every cent. From start to finish you are good ng to be surrounded by 🦋🦋 butterflies. They fly freely around you, so there will also be plenty of photo opportunities
Not worth it at all. Saw maybe 5-7 butterflies for a 9.50 euro ticket. Spent 10 minutes walking around the small enclosure then left. Probably the worst butterfly exhibit I've ever seen.
It is a nice place Good to visit and the kids enjoyed But it is small and the entrance fee doesn't reflect this………………………….
Awesome experience for all ages! Highly recommend, then be sure to have lunch next door! Found everything we needed in Viator, and have already recommended their site to others traveling to Europe.
Hardly any butterflies. Dying plants. Over in 10 minutes and that's walking slowly. The staff were very unhappy about opening the larger barrier to let me through with my walker. I couldn't get out either. A kind member of the public lifted my frame over the barrier so I could get out.
Such a beautiful experience and very immersive. only thing to say that if you visit here be so careful when walking around. me and my mum watched the same girl step on two poor little butterflies, obviously it was done unintentionally but she was too invested in taking pictures to watch where she was stepping. it’s especially difficult when the buterrflies are the light brown colour that almost completely blend in. we were extra cautious when we were stepping around and then took pictures and looked around whilst standing still:) just a little note because otherwise these poor butterflies won’t see you coming 🦋🦋🦋 especially in the darker rooftop steps and the little tunnels as they fly in there and are difficult to spot. couldn’t recommend more though, worth every penny 💘
We came during the summer and the heat was pretty awful, especially because the greenhouse makes it even more humid. The price was also pretty high (9€) considering it's not that big and can be visited in 15-20 minutes. However if you love butterflies and nature this visit is a must, as you will be able to see the butterflies up close and they will fly all around you, just a magical experience! I recommend coming in colder months as you will not find the temperature too unbearable, and there will probably be fewer people, allowing you to sit on one of the few benches and enjoy the atmosphere 🦋💐✨
Wow. I was absolutely stunned by the beauty found at the butterfly house. Being able to see all the cocoons of different types of butterflies was a nice touch as well. I saw so many different types of butterflies, flowers, and plants. Only complaint was children touching everything they saw.
Everything was beautiful, the only thing downside is that there were a lot of people and it was very hot and humid in there. Nevertheless, the place is a MUST VISIT when you’re in Vienna. I read reviews before going and everyone said that there are not many butterflies but that’s so not true… there are a lot of them and they’re so friendly.
It was a very unique experience, I even had a butterfly land on my arm. It was much warmer in the building than expected but it was a nice warm break from the cold. Perhaps a sign pointing out the entry would be helpful.
I was a bit disappointed because it was very crowded. For such a small place there were to many people. You tried to take a photo then someone bump into you.
