This was a perfect way to see the amazing alpine countryside of Austria in one day! Darko, our driver and tour guide, was wonderful! He communicated with us prior to our tour day to get a better idea of what we wanted to do. He tailored the day based on our wishes. At each stop, he gave us great recommendations, guidance and directions to maximize our time. He also took certain routes that allowed us to see as much scenery as possible. He took pictures for us, and was a joy to spend time with. The day was exactly what we were hoping for! If you are staying in Vienna and just have one day to see Salzburg and a few lake villages, I highly recommend this option!

Booked this to get out and see some more of the country and it did not disappoint. For one Evan was our driver who was super friendly and helpful. We were definitely glad we listened & went for the cafe meal with the breathtaking views at the top of Salzburg! The drive is broken up nicely and views along the way are beautiful. Worth doing as we had a van with reclining seats to ourselves no one right next to you with odors or colds or whatever. This trip was totally at our own pace which was even better. Yes you could go cheaper but why risk being packed in van with a bunch of people and probably not enough air! And although the weather was very comfortable you’re going to sweat walking around Salzburg making that last leg back long.

Our guide Darko is very professional and willing to work around our preferences. Instead of going to the crowded tourist spots first, he took us to a gatekeeper place Traunsee that only locals know about. There were no crowds, just beautiful scenery and fresh air. In Hallstatt, Darko told us exactly where to find the best viewpoint for photos. When we stopped in Salzburg, he explained which spots were worth visiting and introduced the oldest bakery in Salzburg. It was a long day, but every stop showed us something different, and we never felt bored or rushed. Highly recommended!

Our guide Drako was an extrordinary support to us, he ensured we saw the best of the region not only the tour highlights. We had our 7 year old with us and at every juncture he made sure even he was entertained. I cab literally rave about him the whole day as apart from being professional his knowledge amazed us , it was whole day trip but with well planned itenarary on his part we didnt feel tired and enjoyed every moment. Ivan picked and dropped us at hotel on time. This trip is a long trip and I would recommend to inform the tour company about preferred locations to visit in Salzburg. He provided information along our trip, and when we arrived at our locations. As we were the only ones, we were able to decide how long we stayed at each location. We just got back from this tour and I’m still thinking about it. Booked this as a day trip out of Vienna with our teenage son, and honestly it exceeded every expectation. First stop was Melk Abbey, and wow — nothing prepares you for that high baroque interior. Photos don’t do it justice. We had enough time to properly wander through and take it all in without feeling rushed. Then Hallstatt. I’d seen the pictures everyone posts online and figured it was overhyped. It’s not. Pulling up along the lake with the mountains behind that little village is one of those “pinch me” travel moments. It really does feel like you walked into a fairytale. Salzburg was the perfect way to end the day — walking where Mozart grew up, spotting a few Sound of Music filming spots, and then taking the funicular up to Hohensalzburg Fortress for a late lunch with that view over the whole city. Hard to beat. The whole day ran smoothly, but honestly what made it was our guide, Romano. He was friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, and just made the whole experience feel personal instead of like a packed group tour. He answered every question, kept things moving at a good pace, and clearly loved what he does. If you’re staying in Vienna and trying to decide whether this trip is worth a full day, it absolutely is. Three completely different, beautiful places in one day, and a guide who made it even better. If you are not into the tour bus thing, this is the trip for you! This was a great way to have a stress free day trip to visit Salzburg and Halstatt with a knowledgeable guide in a comfortable car. Michael was great. He asked what we would like to see and built the day around that and added some areas we hadn’t thought of. He adjusted the schedule to work around the weather too. He knew the history of the area, took us to beautiful locations both popular and those a bit out of the way. He acted as tour guide, photographer and driver but also gave us time to explore on our own. He also let us decide how long we stayed in each location. We like photography and he showed us some great places for maximizing the view. We had a memorable, perfect day. Definitely worth it! We would highly recommend Michael and this trip. I had Darko drive me around some of the most spectacular towns and mountains I have ever seen. He also acted as my photographer and gave me tips of places to go as he would drop me off at Salzburg, Hallstatt and Melk etc so I felt like a VIP with my own driver, who has good knowledge of the areas but also lets you do your own thing. This is an excellent experience if we want to pack a lot of excellent sightseeing in Austria in 1 day as well as being entertained by the funny, knowledgeable and accommodating Darko!

If you take this tour, you can expect to feel that you did not have enough time in Melk, Hallstatt, and/or Salzburg. Thirteen hours is simply not enough time to fully appreciate all three. To the credit of our driver, D, he did an excellent job of advising us based on our individual interests. Although my wife would have been satisfied with 60 minutes at the monastery in Melk, I needed 90 minutes because I have a strong interest in history. My wife and I found 60 minutes to be more than enough time to stroll through the small, picturesque town of Hallstatt, but may people comment in their review that they would have preferred to spend more time in Hallstatt. Upon arrival in Salzburg, we had 2.5 hours to see the Mirabell Gardens (15 minutes), Mozart's Birthplace (45 minutes), and the Fortress (45 minutes). (The remaining 45 minutes was spent walking from one sight to another.) My wife and I have a strong interest in classical music and were disappointed that we couldn't spend at least another 30 minutes in Mozart's Birthplace. By the time we reached the Fortress by cable car at 5 PM, all of the Fortress museums were closing. Our driver, D, was very personable and a great conversationalist which made the long drives between destinations quite enjoyable.

It was a great trip that showed us the beauty of Austria at a nice pace. We traveled as a group of 6 adults ranging in age from 21-78 and we all agreed it was a day well spent! This was an amazing day tour - It was a full day traveling from Vienna but worth it. Halstatt may have been one of the most picturesque places we have seen ever. This trip is definitely worth doing.
