The trio performed in the basement of the Mozarthaus, two flights under ground level, where a modest space has been renovated into a cozy concert venue with excellent accoustics. The young artists were competent in playing some of the greatest hits of 19th century Viennese music. The cellist (Rodrigo - we saw Piano Trio I) introduced each work, providing interesting history of Mozart and his contemporaries. He is knowledgable and entertaining. Although we had previously heard every movement performed, their renditions were not boring. This would be an excellent introduction to young people who are interested in learning about good music.

Itinerary
Concert in the house of Mozarts first apartment in Vienna, part of the monastery of the “German Teutonic Order”. Mozart lived and worked here for Archbishop Colloredo in the year 1781. As a piano trio, the Mozart Ensemble plays the most famous works written by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin and many other famous composers. Piano works, solo pieces for violin and cello combined with great piano trios, are performed in a virtuoso manner. A special highlight of our new concert series is the finale with Haydn’s piano trio “Rondo all’ Ongarese” and Schubert’s trio op. 100.

Beautiful music performed in an intimate, historic setting. The artists were not only talented musically but were congenial so we enjoyed our evening with them.
The concert was outstanding. The instructions to find the event were not good. We were 40 minutes early and barely made it with only 5 minutes to spare and had to settle for the only seats available in our class as we were essentially late. We were not the only people that struggled to find the actual venue.
First, the room was beautiful!! But, if you are even a little bit into classical music, you shouldn't pay 69 euros per person to go here. There are so many beautiful concerts you could go to for the same price which you would enjoy. The musicians had little to zero feeling for musicality and it was off-key at least 45 percent of the concert. Though the musicians seemed nice people, but not worthy to pay so much for such a musical disaster.
I don’t usually write anything helpful here but WAIT! The concert does not take place in the Mozart house museum. It would have been helpful for the museum to put some useful directions but ah well! I am sure there are snobs who don’t appreciate this but for the casual traveller this is money well spent. N the room Mozart played in, theee musicians playing a varied programme. Helpful staff and you can get a drink at half time (not sure they called it that). Can’t beat a bit of Saint-Sens
Excellent musicianship. Great show. Intimate. Played the “highlights” of composers.
A real massacre. If you love classical music, don't go there. We left for the intermission
Wonderful concert ! Very talented musicians and very entertaining as well . The concert was in a small and intimate setting which made it even more enjoyable ! Had a great time :)
Fabulous music in an intimate setting I was 5 ft from the violinist They were world class players Highly recommended !!!
Thoroughly enjoyable. Very friendly in a magical setting.
This concert was absolutely amazing! The Mozarthaus is an incredible venue with great atmosphere and ambiance. The admission fee was reasonable. The crowd size was manageable, and it was easy to get a good seat. The performers were incredible! They were incredibly skilled, charismatic, and charming to listen to and watch. I highly recommend this concert!
Wonderful choices of music by a wide range of composers with links to Vienna. Excellent interpretations by 3 young talented musicians. If you are a classical music lover do not miss.
The intimate venue and the splendid musicians made this engaging performance unforgettable. Classical music at it's finest!
Three charming virtuoso musicians performed a varied and well chosen selection of baroque and classical pieces, with brief, helpful introductions. The concert hall is small (seats maybe 50) and the acoustics were incredible. It was a wonderful experience to watch and hear these incredibly talented musicians in an intimate venue. Well worth the price of admission.
The trio were exceptional and throughly enjoyed the show. Fully recommend and would encourage all music lovers to attend
We went to the Mozarthaus with plenty of time to spare but were told that the event we had tickets for was somewhere else. We followed the directions to said place but nobody was around and there was certainly no music. We returned to the Mozarthaus, but they were closing. As the event clearly didn’t exist and we spent a considerable time looking for it, we were terribly disappointed and hope that Trip Advisor will refund our money.
Mozarthaus is a 12th century chapel that was later enlarged into a monastery, where Mozart lived briefly, as did Brahms much later. Mozart also played there, in the very room where the concert was held – a small round room with frescoes from the mid-1700s. The Mozart Ensemble was a pianist, violinist and cellist who played a variety of music from Haydn, Beethoven, Mozart, Liszt, Bach and Schubert, explaining a little about each of the composers. The entire concert was fabulous, but our favorite piece was a piano solo, Liszt’s Mephisto Waltz, which was absolutely mesmerizing.
This was such an amazing concert. The musicians played extremely well and were very funny and personable. The room was incredibly beautiful. My only issue was with Viator. Even after my booking was confirmed and my ticket issued, the booking did not give an exact address for the location. It says it’s a local address and to ask a taxi driver? Well, I did that and ended up at the wrong location. I tried to contact someone through Viator and never heard back. Thankfully, I was at least close by and was able to find it along with other guests who also didn’t have the correct info. There is absolutely no reason why Viator cannot give the exact address of the location. Just FYI, the location is Deutschordenshaus, Singerstraße 7, 1010 Wien, Austria. Please don’t let that stop you. I’ve seen several classical music concerts here in Vienna. This is by far the best one.
Musicians were excellent and we had a great time. The music was beautiful and I especially enjoyed the woman cellist who played beautifully and showed so much emotion and passion for her music! The violinist and pianist were excellent as well. We did have trouble finding the address which is not at the Mozarthaus museum but is close by, otherwise a perfect evening.
The concert was good. The piano player was amazing and so was the violin player, The atmosphere and surroundings are great. The issue is with the setup. Anyway Vienna Opera House will be better experience. Despite paying the 69 euro we were given the third row. First row was reserved for a tour group. You can’t book the first row.
Utterly splendid! The performance by this trio - full of talent, skill, and personality - was a perfect fit for the intimacy of this lovely historic venue. The program featured solos, duets, and the full trio, covering a range of musical styles and sources. In acknowledgment of the recent passing of Pope Francis, they chose to omit a Saint-Saens piece and instead honor the Pope with Gounod's Ave Maria, with a preface by Bach, obviously an emotional selection for them. There are many ways to experience music in Vienna, but the larger, better-known venues should not overshadow the magic that can be found in this unique spot, with these thoroughly engaging musicians.
What a great experience! The trio were superb and the sound of their instruments filled the room. They played a diverse set (not just Mozart) which showcased each individual instrument as well as the ensemble. It was made all the more enjoyable by the fact that the musicians were clearly enjoying playing for us. The sala terrena is very intimate and an ideal location for this unique evening of entertainment.
We attended the piano trio concert. The music was lovely, and the musicians were all excellent. If you want to see the players' hands while they play, it's better to reserve the first two rows. Overall, we had a wonderful time.
Wonderful music and the musicians gave interesting background on the pieces. Gem of a music hall. Loved our experience!
The room is intimate and beautiful. The musicians are incredibly talented, sharing interesting stories as they perform. They play wonderfully as a trio; however, their solos will blow your mind. They perform with passion and humor. I would do it 100 more times.
long before consert date, I asked organizators that if I need to buy ticket for my child who is under 5. They responsed that it is free for him. And on their website, it is stated that seats will be provided for children if needed. Unfortunately on the concert day the greeter said that there will be no seat for my kid and that I must hold 20 kilo kid on my lap during 1.5 hour concert. Despite all of my explanations refering my previous mailings and the information on their websites, the greeter very rudely and loudly said that he can give my money back if I dont accept this condition. Speaking about "giving back the money" where customer has no intention of doing that is an unacceptable rudeness. And this rudeness took place at mozart's house where people expect kindness and art. Eventually a seat for my kid was arranged just minutes before the consert begun. But unfortunately the rude answer I heard from that greeter suppressed all the beauty of the concert. The concert it self was enjoyable though. By the way, I would like to remind that greeter that he is not selling doner kebap, he is selling tickets for an art event. So he must think twice when offering money back at last minute because of such a small problem.
The Classical Music trail was a gem on our visit. Dear setting is beautiful and historic as Mozart compose there. Each of the trio was accomplished and played together seamlessly. If you are looking for an evening of culture in Vienna, look no further.
i cried through the entire performance. we are from a very provincial part of canada. this evening was truly an experience of a lifetime. the intimacy of the setting and the elegance and history of its environs were both powerful and breath taking. the performance was more than magical. the curation of the programme was perfect. the violinist, pianist and cellist were nothing short of virtuosic in their presence and execution. superb. if you see nothing else when you visit vienna, this will fill your soul, open your heart, blow your mind, empty your tear ducts, and change your life. bravo.
I saw this concert 2 years ago in 2022 and to my delight and fortune, 2 of the 3 musicians were the same this time in 2024. I liked it so much that it was worth the trip from the US a second time to hear them again. The pianist is phenomenal!
This was the perfect experience for what I wanted - which was to see live, accessible classical music in Vienna. The length worked so well- I am a very casual fan and a long show would have been tough, especially with my 7 year old daughter in tow. When we checked in, the host kindly asked my daughter if she was learning an instrument and when she said “piano,” he went out of his way to seat us with a good vantage point for the pianist. We were in the second row, maybe 10 feet from the trio. The musicians were lovely- very gracious, humorous, and provided some nice introductions to the pieces. Technically they seemed amazing- but again, I’m no expert. The pianist was incredible! I also surprised myself by being moved to tears by the Flamenco cello solo. My daughter enjoyed an orange juice and I a glass of bubbly during the brief intermission. As other reviews stated, it was quite warm in the room even with our coats off. It also would be great to have earlier showtimes for jet lagged Americans and their kids, but as this was day 5 of our trip, we did just fine. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone similarly situated to me and wanting a nice taste of classical music in a pretty setting in the heart of the city. This is something that adds to the evening and doesn’t demand that you dedicate the night to it. We spent two hours at the Christmas market Rathaus prior.
Very special to be in the concert hall where once Mozart played. We had a concert of piano, cello and violin. The musicians were not costumed as is portrayed in some pictures, but the concert was marvelous. Really a great performance that I strongly recommend.
Phenomenal experience in an intimate & unique historic venue. The trio was so powerful & moving we were brought to tears. The artists truly enjoy performing & it shows in every song. Not to be missed. Way more personal & touching than the larger touristy performances that only play the popular songs.
Highly recommend this smaller venue (40 people maximum and not cramped together) in a stylist room from the period. We selected the trio performance (piano, violin and cello. The pianist was extremely talented and performed impeccably. Very easy to find location with their use of an easel sign outside the entrance.
It was a pleasant experience. The concert took place in a very small yet beautiful hall which made it less touristy than many other similar offerings in the city. It was special to have this experience in the same place where Mozart himself performed and lived for a short period of time.
Exceptional, outstanding night out together as a family. Lucky enough to be second row and totally immersed in the loveliest concert I have ever attended. We were all blown away by the musicality of the musicians - it really was exceptional and the passion with which they played their pieces. Glass of fizz in the courtyard at half time all add up to make this the best night out we have had as a family in very many years. Bravo! Wonderful.
My husband and I went to this beautiful salon that seated about 40 people and saw a wonderful pianist, violinist and cellist. They did a wonderful program for 1 1/2 hours and we thoroughly enjoyed it! It was held where Mozart actually played!
Amazing musicians in close proximity to the audience in a beautiful room with excellent sound. We all loved it, including our two 16 year old boys!!!
Liked the selection of pieces, and the musicians were excellent. The only downside was that the violinist was backlit.
The outstanding performance of Mozart Ensemble’s talented musicians can only be enhanced by the magical venue. This perfect match provides a supeb and intimate classical music experience in the heart of Vienna. Highly recommended!
I booked tickets online for category A, the first three rows of the room. The room is so small that you can totally save EUR 10 on category B for row 4/5 (row 6 doesn’t exist, unlike advertised). The show as at 19:30, confirmed via e-mail on the same day. I got to Mozarthaus at 19:20 and it was ghost town, no one was around to greet you ie even indicate that you were in the right place. A guy showed up at 19:35 to greet my party and two other people (who were also confused) with a fold up table to start checking tickets. From reviews to their website, this seemed like a legit attraction with some level of organization - don’t be fooled, it’s literally a couple and three other musicians that rent a room at Mozarthaus to play, no “touristy” infrastructure at all. That being said, the performance started at 20:05. Was it beautiful? Yes. Was it jaw dropping, an experience of a lifetime? Not even close.
The perfect experience! Really good time with excellent music! The piano guy and the cello lady performed as stars! Really appreciate it!
Wonderful performance! The chamber was very nice with great acoustics. The Mozart Ensemble was really great. I highly recommend it!
Perfect little place for a concert. Comfortable and cozy. No need to pay for higher priced tickets because the place is so small that no matter where seated, it will be a good view.
We bought tickets from one of the costumed vendors on the street--DON'T DO THIS. The Mozarthaus still processes customers the way they did in Mozart's day: by laboriously checking names off of a paper list. (Tip #2: COME EARLY) We had to wait half an hour while they seated everyone who had bought tickets at the Mozarthaus itself and then made sure there were seats for us. Some ticketholders who had bought from the street vendors were told there was no room for them at the 6:00 show, and they should come back at 8:00. Finally, ten minutes after the scheduled start time, we were led to the last available seats as the musicians watched until we were settled before beginning. It was an extremely and unnecessarily stressful experience. That said, the concert was very good, and the setting is gorgeous. The layout is such that only people with A-section tickets can really see the musicians, but the acoustics of the small room are excellent. I would recommend it, as long as you get tickets at the Mozarthaus itself and arrive early enough to be seated comfortably in advance.
5 star experience in a small salon behind at Stephens Cathedral.. the three musicians where astounding and had the energy and talent of a full orchestra!
I attended both the chamber music ensemble and the solo pianist performance, both were wonderful. I especially liked the solo pianist performance - I have never heard and seen any pianist play like this before. Slava Ukraina! Not to be missed. PS do not miss going into the courtyard to admire the tower of the Stephansdom.
The two gentleman who welcomed us in were lovely. The room is stunning, small and intimate. Great acoustics. Very moved by the music. The four musicians were very accomplished, they showed great enjoyment whilst playing. Remember to bring cash for drinks at the interval!
Lovely concert. We enjoyed the intimate environment where we could see the playing and musicians’ expressions! The selection of music was fabulous.
"Romantic Piano Classics" with the pianist Pavel Kaschnov at Sala Terrena was quite simply a wonderful and uplifting experience. The concert hall is beautiful and the pianist Pavel Kaschnov is a superb musician. My next visit to Vienna will undoubtedly include a Mozarthaus Concert and I would be delighted if Kaschnov should be performing there again. It was a splendid evening.
I don't know what I was expecting, but the Mozart Ensemble far exceeded my expectations. Just wow. The ensemble played well together but it was the pianist, Dusan Sretovic, who really stood out. A few days later and we are still talking about him. Practical information: This place is very hard to find. We suspected that and went early, but up until a half an hour before the performance there is no sign or other indication. So here is what to do: Go to Singerstrasse 7, which is the official address and has a big "7" over the entrance. While facing the entrance, move one entryway to the left to the unmarked entrance. Half an hour before the performance you will find a sign here set up on the sidewalk.
