Built in 1837 and painstakingly restored to its glory, this is a journey into the golden age of Viennese music. Your ticket includes: - Museum access at your own pace - 15-minute multimedia show in the 1837 Strauss Hall - Audio guide narrated by Thomas Strauss (great-great-grandson) - Interactive exhibits with original Thonet chairs, costumes & scores Twice recommended by The New York Times in its "36 Hours in Vienna" series. Was looking for a concert whilst in Vienna but chose another option as no dancers and wanted to experience full package.
Was looking for a classical concert whilst in Vienna but chose another option as wanted to see dancers too.
Nice little museum. We enjoyed it a lot. It didn’t feel touristic and we were actually one of the few people that were in it and the café next to it. It was very, very nice outdoors and very clean and they were all very pleasant here so we really enjoyed it.
An amazing experience! Although only 11 pieces, the orchestra absolutely filled the hall! The soloist commanded the stage. Impressive to say the least. The museum itself is innovative, modern and has great interactivity. Absolutely worth the price and highly recommended.
Wonderful experience! Great variety of the classic composers and the musicians were amazing!
This museum is amazing! It brings you back into the Strauss era. Wonderful with kids (big and little). Very interactive
Absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! What a place. Outstanding is not enough!
Fanatics place for a visit it is so good
Superb experience. The orchestra was magnificent. A must try when in Vienna.
We attended House of Strauss this evening. It was such a beautiful historic place. Music was beautiful. Singer was amazing.
My wife and I attended a performance and absolutely enjoyed every second of the performance. What variety! Highly recommend.
We bought a combined Strauss museum and concert ticket and on the confirmation it told us to be there at 7.pm. This was to give us enough time to look around the Strauss museum ready for the concert at 8.30. It's not a museum as has no artifacts, it's only a history of the Strauss family and could be done in about 20 minutes. So there was alot of waiting around. It was worth the wait as the hour long concert was amazing with an opera singer for two of the pieces. The front two rows of chairs had pads on them and some were reserved, however my friend and I sat in the front row on two of these chairs that were not reserved. So we had a great view (the theatre style set up is not tiered). Definitely recommend, however be mindful you probably don't need 1.5 hours in the 'museum' section.
A lot of interesting facts about the history of Strauss (and the family) and other composers.
Very disappointing. Not so many interactive things to do, most musical pieces were not being played in the audio-guide. And the audio-guide was just a reading of what was written on the panels. Concert hall was not available because of a show. Not much for 21 eur
Loved the history overview and the special treat at the end. A wonderful way of knowing the family tree, how life was in the music world and identifying the talents at early ages. I recommend this as an introduction to the family and friends of Johann Strauss.
This is a superb museum, very well laid out with good descriptions in German and English. There are interactive displays which are also well done. To get a good overview of the Strauss family and the mark they made in music history, this is the place to visit. The museum is spotlessly clean and airy, there is a lovely shop and restaurant attached to it too. The staff were all so friendly, welcoming and helpful. It is easier to get to than one thinks. We took the tram to Schottentor, the lift from ground level to the lower ground level and then the no 37 tram towards Hohe Warte. We got off at Pokomygasse and the House of Strauss is a few metres away! We highly recommend making the effort to see this wonderful museum. We could not fault it!
I've been planning on visiting this place for a LOOONG time ever since I was a student and last today, my dream has finally come true. Visiting this place was the pinnacle of my Vienna tour. Not only I was able to enjoy this place as a music nerd, but it also left a remarkable memory as it was very welcoming and entertaining to be in. And the food was great too! My friends and I had a blast visiting the museum. Even for them who are not music fans, they enjoyed the experience and learned something during the tour. Highly recommended place
My boyfriend and I decided to visit the place because we are amazed by the pictures presented online but when we arrived at the place we were more than surprised because it is 5x better in person. The museum is astonishing the music and the food is very good. I will definitely go back there and I am planning to go back with my own so I can feel the view and music more. It is 10/10 for me!!
I had the best experience here. This is the best place to be if you really want to enjoy the historical view and learn more about it.The customer care and the meals were the best one could ask for. I would recommend this museum to everyone seeking to have a good, refreshing and informative tour.
This is the best place I ever visit in my life for vacation. This place is very beautiful and fabulous. Every person should visit in "House of Strauss Museum" once in their life. The music is just touched my heart and family and me enjoyed well. This experience is my most memorable experience. This is a very luxurious place and restaurant food is just delight full.
We really enjoyed our visit to the museum! We were warmly welcomed by the museum staff and given a brief introduction. Our highlight was definitely the show, where the history of the Strauss family is brought closer. It was really great!
What a disappointment!! I had booked this concert for my birthday, trusting the reviews. The package offered a visit to the museum with an audio guide: that was actually well done and interesting. Then a glass of sparkling wine and a concert of Austrian classical music (several composers) by an orchestra and a soprano. Well, a very beautiful lip-sync performance!! Many seem to believe it!! Yet there were no microphones, no earpieces for the musicians or the soprano; they weren't sweating, nor did they seem strained. And how could 11 musicians play like a big orchestra!! It's super disappointing! But clearly, this neophyte trap works well.
Dismal experience, I don't recommend it
Very nice, informative and also fun museum! Extremely friendly reception and many stations to look at and also join in yourself! The highlight is the big hall, where all four ostriches really played back then! Be sure to look at it!! Is easy to reach by U6 to Spittelau and from there a few minutes walk!
I write here with pleasure and recommendation and praise the HouseofStrauss for its entertaining and elegant cultural heritage. I went to see the museum and the Strauss concert with my girlfriend. A historical journey through time that brought the Strauss family and their life's work closer to us. The museum was varied with its colorful and modern design and even equipped with a small quiz. The most impressive for us was the magnificent hall. With the lighting effects, during the concert, it shone in all its facets!! To the orchestra I would also like to praise the violinist for his incredible sympathy! Thank you for this experience!
Very friendly welcome. A very nice exhibition with lots of interesting information about the Strauss family and their work. Especially recommended: The musical presentation in the beautiful concert hall. The House of Strauss is easily and quickly accessible by public transport. The way there is very worthwhile.
The house of Strauss was fun. In an entertaining way, we learned a lot about the Strauss family and the music just puts us in a good mood. The staff is very friendly.
A great experience! Especially the multimedia show in the concert hall is very special. We then looked at them twice and afterwards ate very well there.
Nice place, however perceives itself as quite expensive for a small museum but we do not feel fooled either because many special effects, private museum and little attended. We learn a lot about the Strauss dynasty of musicians. This makes you visit the city as it is located in a district far from the historic center. Nice walk but not necessary if you have little time
The museum meets really high expectations: the life and work of Strauss (and thus also the time in which he lived) is presented in a very entertaining way. That was really a good time spent in the museum and we enjoyed it as a small group.
Great museum!!! A part quite classic with lots of extensive data about the whole dynasty. A part with high technology, with interactive games and experiences - just great. Super nice recording nevertheless that I arrived half an hour early! I spent three hours there that were over as a moment. Truly great praise to all who drive it!
The museum is superbly designed: from the interior design to the scientific study of the Strauss dynasty. The museum is a must for anyone who enjoys dancing to waltz music, loves opalette music and values old Viennese cultural heritage. The multimedia show in the ballroom, which is not only acoustically unique, rounds off the experience in the House of Strauss.
A folkloric and friendly welcome. But disappointing content. A little lacking in meaning. Some fun activities that don't work. Damage. But the welcome is charming.
The Strauss Hall really gives you space and resonance and fills you up. Very special!!!I can only recommend everyone to immerse themselves in the combination of history and innovation.
This interactive exhibition is a must for every music and Strauss lover. Here you can really immerse yourself in the history of the Strauss dynasty, where the great musical family seems to come alive. Very impressive and therefore highly recommended!
Pleasant atmosphere, cool design...I felt very comfortable in the listed rooms and was transported back to the time of the Strauss family.
wow - a really elaborate and digitalized experience about the history of Johann Strauss! Offers a very good insight. The video experience with many well-known compositions by Johann Strauss was also impressive! A really great experience! I can highly recommend it!
Brilliant interactive museum. Absolutely top-notch - every room is engagingly designed and beautifully crafted. The opening was also completely in tune with the times, both technically and musically, a dream. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- 5 out of 5 Great interactive museum. Absolutely top-notch - every room is engagingly designed and beautifully crafted. The opening was also completely in tune with the times, both technically and musically, a dream.
My day at the House of Strauss was like a spontaneous dance through the melodies of Vienna. I got in without having to queue and was right in the middle of the chic halls, which vibrate as if Johann Strauss was just around the corner. With every step through the Zögernitz Garden Palace, I felt more like a part of the legendary waltz dynasty. And hey, the museum guide app? A real game changer! It made it super easy to swipe through the exciting stories and cool interactive exhibits. But the absolute highlight was the Strauss Concert Hall - man, you didn't just hear the music, you totally felt it! Honestly, for anyone who likes Viennese classical music, the House of Strauss is a hit. A cultural must-do that you won't be able to get out of your head any time soon.
