It was an amazing, breathtaking experience. The views were too. Guide was a man, who knew a lot about history, culture and shared about it with us. The bus was really comfortable. Absolutely recommend this trip/ tour!!!

Reviews
Overall was good, but the time they allocated in Hallstatt is too short. We came back an hour earlier, could have spent the hour there in Hallstatt.
We really enjoyed this day trip. The bus ride was long and Hallstatt was quite busy, but even Sophia did an excellent job managing people's expectations, keeping us entertained, and all in all, things went very smoothly. A big thank you also to the woman who helped us sign in at the start of the day. We'd accidentally purchased tickets for the wrong date, but she managed to fix everything for us so much appreciated.
It is very nice lace to visit, hope the tour guy knows more things as we asked. Also he was very sick, it made us nervous more.
Great tour, and learnt so much from Alexander about Vienna, the country side, Hallstatt and much more. On the way back he asked who wanted to know more or have quiet and as many were tired, we had a quiet return. Communication on where to meet initially and throughout the day it was very clear so everyone knew where to be at what time etc. Plenty of time at Hallstatt to do skywalk , boat and a quick bite. It was predictable busy with tourists so going out on boat brought peace and beautiful perspective.
Absolutely gorgeous town. We also did the skywalk that was totally worth it. Highlight of our trip to Vienna.
Alex our tour guide showed up completely sick for the tour. It is unacceptable and frankly unsafe. He was non stop coughing and blowing his nose. He made many people feel scared and uncomfortable. I called him out on it and he claimed he is not sick and was only sick on Saturday but it is a lie. The deep cough and snot coming from his nose showed he is still very sick. Plus only after 2 days you are still infectious. It is not right to do to people for a long bus ride with no windows.
The Austrian police stopped our bus and the tour company did not have the appropriate paperwork for the bus and the driver. As a result, we had to sit in the crowded bus for an hour and wait for a different bus. Once we finally got to the village that we wanted to visit, we were then told that, "as compensation", we would stay an hour longer. Actually, however, we stayed over two hours longer because the bus for our return to Vienna was not released from the police until just before 6 pm. This meant that we returned to Vienna at 10pm, two hours later than scheduled. Consequently, some people on the tour missed out on activities and/or connections they had made prior to the tour. Last, I cannot honestly say that the tour company (I.e. the guide or driver) ever honestly explained to us why we were pulled over by the police and "held", thus delaying our tour. This was quite frankly the worst tour I have ever been on.
Beautiful places and nicely arranged
Quite large group travelling. We get on a double deck bus. Spend more time to wait for in and out for the whole group. Enough time to walk around. No rush at all. Our guide called Lily. She talked a lot of Vienna History as well. A hardworking lady. Overall experience is very good.
We booked a guided daytrip (by 7 travel) to Hallstatt with Skyview Option on Oct 21st Wednesday. Finding the meeting place no problem. Bus came relatively on time, no problem. Got on our way, no problem. Nobody introduced himself to me or anybody else when we boarded the bus. We had seats on the upstairs of the bus. He said his name on the speaker real fast, so I did not catch his name. Nobody came upstairs to introduce himself as our guide. The guide did not introduce himself to anyone (that I saw) when we stopped at the Landzeit rest area the first time. I saw a person quickly coming upstairs before the bus started to leave. He seemed to be counting heads, and went quickly back downstairs without saying a word to anyone. I asked the guy sitting next to me, and he agreed with me that the man must be our guide. When we got to Hallstatt, we got off the bus and he asked the people who had the Skyview option to "just follow him". In response to a question from a lady who was not doing the skyview option "where is the town", he pointed to a general direction and gave some mumbled short answer to the lady and then walked away. He walked away so fast across the road towards the Skyview funicular station that some of the passengers (us included) who were caught by a departing tour bus were delayed crossing the road, and we lost sight of him. Luckily our little group found our own way to the station. At the station, he started handing out the funicular ride tickets and realized he had more people than he had tickets. He started telling the ones without tickets they have to "buy their own tickets!!" Several people suggested loudly that maybe he should check everyone's email digital tickets to see maybe someone there may not have paid for Skyview option yet. Then he pulled out a list (I presume the list of paid customers for Skyview) and call out each party's name. The issue was solved when he finished with the list. He was very specific about the time we must get back to the bus (15:40pm) but told us very little about what to do once we got up there. He pointed us upstairs for the ride up to Skyview, I did not see whether he came up as well or not. The overall trip to Hallstatt was OK. But it never felt like a "Guided Daytrip."
What a wonderful trip with breathtaking scenery eventhough its cloudy. The bus is comfortable and our guide Sabrina is fun.
Went to Hallstatt solo on an absolutely beautiful day. My tour guide was very friendly and very knowledgeable. I didn’t do the glass walk(?) where you take an elevator up to a higher vantage point and thank goodness I didn’t. I was free to explore the town and walk to a free vantage point on my own. Definitely recommend this tour if you’re in Vienna’
My only complaint about this tour was that one of the women checking people in was so rude. Her behaviour did not make a good first impression. Not everyone should be in a customer facing role...
I travelled solo to Hallstatt with Sabrina as our guide and if I’m not mistaken, our driver was Olga. To start with, the trip was very organized and on time. Instructions were clear and well planned. It was very comfortable and the driver was careful. Also, Sabrina gave us enough time to go around Hallstatt and she even recommended some spots on where to take good photos as well as where to try authentic and local cuisines. Hallstatt was beautiful and a must see whenever you’re visiting this part of Europe. It’s very picturesque and relaxing. I had the best time in Hallstatt with the help of Sabrina and her team!
Full day of travelling but well worth it! Hallstatt is very scenic and beautiful and the tour was professional.
Sofia was a wonderful tour guide. She made the bus trip enjoyable with all the history and various facts about Vienna and Austria. Hallstatt was absolutely fantastic. The architecture was beautiful. The Skywalk is not to be missed and the stops along the way (especially the one just before we reached Hallstatt. It is an experience not to be skipped.
The bus ride was great. Alex, our tour guide, was informative, funny, and knowledgeable. He kept it fun and interesting. We made 2 stops on the way, which allowed us to stretch, use the restroom, and take in some great views. The town was beautiful and we had more than enough time to do all the things we wanted to do.
We had two Ubers cancel on us trying to arrive by 7:00 am. We messaged repeatedly and eventually got the tour guide on the phone. Our GPS said arrival by 7:08. She hung up on us and left without us. Actually hung up on Subsequent attempts to reschedule and recoup our expense were largely ignored. We found a private guide who did the whole day for us at a lower rate. We had no problems and great experiences with every other company during our two week trip. Don’t waste your money with this group.
We had a great day. Weather was perfect! Bus ride was comfortable. We stopped at Schloss Ort- beautiful and picturesque. On to Hallstadt - breathtaking. Our ticket included the funicular. Well worth it!! The view was amazing. We had lunch at the restaurant and it was very good. We enjoyed the afternoon taking in the view! Olga was a wonderful tour guide. Very informative along the way. Explained everything so we knew what to expect and where to go. She is very kind and sweet!
This UNISCO site is nothing exciting, not worth the trouble to travel 600 km return trip from Vienna to visit. The old town fill up with restaurants and souvenir with no character. The only enjoyable activity is the self funded bot ride on the lake.
We took the Hallstatt guided day trip from Vienna with a group of friends in October, and it was a very good day overall. Hallstatt is as scenic as everyone says, with the lake, the mountains and the old village all in one place, and visiting in autumn made it feel even more special. It’s a long day out of Vienna, so expect plenty of time on the road, but that’s the trade-off for seeing such a far-off place without planning trains and buses yourself. The village is popular and can feel busy in places, so take your time and wander away from the main lakefront for quieter spots and better photos. I’d rate the value four out of five. It’s a convenient way to see Hallstatt if you’re short on time, and it works well for friends, couples or families who want a stress-free day. Bring warm layers and comfortable shoes, because it gets cool by the lake in October.
It was an amazing experience. Our guide Sophia (or Sofia) was an excellent host. She provided the necessary background and history in such a smooth fashion while also giving us some free time. We all made it to the bus on time after each breaks. Everyone was willing to help her keep us on time. I met some amazing people in this trip too! As I traveled solo, but I made very good friends with other solo travelers, had lunch together, took each others photos. Sofia was also very friendly to take other solo travelers photos as well. Overall it’s a 10/10 experience!
An amazing day. Beautiful with shops, restaurants and just downright magnificent views. Our guide was perfect!
Sabrina was an amazing guide, and Hallstatt was absolutely beautiful! Such a lovely day exploring this little Austrian gem.
We went on a gorgeous sunny October day. Couldn’t have asked for better weather. I liked our tour guide. She worked hard to keep us on time and make the most of every place and get back to Vienna on time too. The meeting location is very easy to find. We did the skywalk option. It was worth it to us but I also still would have had a great time without it. We ate at a lunch spot on the water in Hallstatt. I’d do that over 100 times. In English it’s called “the Green Tree”. Really loved this tour.
A long bus ride, a long day, pretty sites, tour guide not very informative or friendly, better was to spend your time or rent a car & drive your self
Beautiful sights but long, long day. The guide knew both towns (Hallstatt & Salzburg) very well. Both towns are beautiful in beautiful setting. But the day lasts from 7AM to 9PM - that turned out too long for us. In hindsight sight, visiting one or the other towns would have been better.
Sophie was really nice and had the most soothing voice to listen to she was very well organized and did a great job consistently how long the tournament was.
The place is breathtaking But we were rushing all the time I booked for the trip, for the sky bridge and for the boat ride, they told me my booking is only for the sky bridge and for the trip itself and the boat ride is not included!!? Recommend to visit this place on your own so you take your time to enjoy, sit and eat and take pictures
Very organized, Lidia was really nice and gave all detailed information, beautiful place
Amazing experience! Worth every penny. Loved our guide Sofia, excellent planning and communication! Highly recommend
Beautiful weather today in Halstatt! This is such a majestic town that you cannot miss if in Vienna!!
Hallstatt itself is beautiful village with amazing views. But the tour itself felt short, the guide didn’t tell us much about history or good introduction to the place. We were on a van for almost 3 hours so there was plenty of time for introduction, storytelling and facts about the destination. We hoped our guide would be more informative and helpful along the tour. Also wish we had more time at the village and didn’t make the quick stop at the castle view. This could be better planned by the guides. I recommend booking through someone else.
Visit was great but the stops were a bit disorganised. Too crowded and not enough space and time even to have a hot drink forget any breakfast, considering we had had a very early start. Hallstatt was incredible- just as expected. Overall a wonderful experience. Thank you
A big thank you to Sophia for taking care of our group; from checking in on our comfort during the bus ride to providing lots of history about each region. There could not have been a better way to spend a day away from the city and a perfect option for a Sunday, when most things are closed in Vienna. The weather was perfect for strolling, and it wasn’t too crowded since it was the end of September/shoulder season. I definitely appreciated the free time to roam, and although the Skywalk wasn’t functioning, I was still able to find plenty to do in the allotted three hour window. It’s worth re-mentioning to bring Euros for the bathroom, snacks/lunch, tours, and souvenirs, but if you forget, there is a machine that takes card to buy a ticket for the bathroom and there’s also a small grocery store, both by the main entrance.
The day trip with victor to Hallstatt was a lovely experience. The guide Sabrina was really nice and helpful. I will definitely recommend this trip to the next time.,
I made a reservation for September 28th and needed to change the date a week beforehand. I tried to switch the date to September 27th for free, only to discover that this option is a sham. TripAdvisor doesn't allow cancellations and directs you to a Viator phone number that goes unanswered and has no WhatsApp support. I installed the Viator app, but nothing showed up there, and there was no way to get in touch (just an FAQ section). I contacted the agency, and they also stated that everything was Viator's responsibility. Faced with this appalling lack of regard for the consumer, I bought a new ticket for the 27th that included the "skywalk" option. However, on the 27th, the train stopped running; I didn't go up, and I wasn't refunded. Nor will I be, since it once again depends on Viator. In short, I paid twice to experience the "skywalk" but never got the chance, and I wasn't even refunded for the time the "skywalk" was unavailable. I felt misled, but I chose not to let it ruin the outing; I’m only sharing this story so everyone knows that the "free cancellation" or "change reservation" button is fake and doesn't work.
The tour was rushed and felt unsafe. The driver made an error with my booking as he signed someone else in using my ticket, and therefore resulted in me being left waiting forn a long time while he checked what's going on. They ask you to bring a passport but checks people in without checking ID. This resulted in me getting rushed to a tour and the driver rushed me to cross a busy road while he ran across jaywalked and I almost got killed by a bus by following him. Later the driver was caught by police for driving and talking on the phone at the same time and the bus was stopped by the side of the road! The tour guide managed to call me by the wrong name 6 times despite correction and later just called me 'girl with whatever name' when she does the roll call, very disrespectful. Due to the driver's mistake of checking the wrong person I had to be the last person to get on the bus and had a seat surrounded by noise, in the aisle and towards the back. I have major car sickness and when I even emailed prior to the tour and was told to let driver know to get a seat towards front, via email, before the tour. On the day the driver just yelled at me and said 'I am not your doctor I am a driver only' and did nothing to rectify his own mistake! The driver is rude, arrogant and unsafe. The tour guide is disrespectful. Despite hallstatt being very pretty I find the tour not up to professional safety or tour standards. I would do anything with this UNSAFE company.
The destination was amazing and would really recommend it to everyone! However, the guided organization was not so good and a bit misleading. The title of the trip mentioned the Skywalk, but this was not done at all. The guide said it was under contruction, but it was actually inaugurated on the day of our visit and we could see the lift being used! The guide was very nice and helpful besides this, but there was an inaccurate detail in her description. She said that Habsburg descendants have stakes on Schönbrunn Palace because it was built by Maria Theresa's private fortune, but the building is 100% owned by the Republic of Austria. We had a great time in spite of all this because Hallstatt was majestic, but I'd recommend to go there on your own instead of with a guide.
Every stop is timed to the second with little flexibility. The time in Halstatt is good, but too little time to enjoy the stops along the way
The organization in the beginning was terrible but once we got on the bus it was great!! Saw some beautiful areas on the way and then it poured down rained the rest of the time. We still had a great time but would have been better in. Dryer day
Let's get one thing straight, Hallstatt is gorgeous!!! Go there on a sunny clear day and you will be treated to beauty incarnate. It's an experience worth ticking off! BUT. There is little to actually do there. You can eat, drink, walk, boat in literally a few hours tops. There is not much there at all. That being said the tour only gets you 3 hours on site and in our case we had a traffic collision (poor handling by Austria authorities) that wiped out 30-40 min of our time as well. But you have to travel on a coach for 3-4 hours each way (with stops) and that just feels iffy when you spend so little time on site. It may be better or cheaper to rent a basic car and drive it I don't know, you can go faster than a coach for sure. Guide was friendly though kept repeating instructions like we're all children. I don't need to be told the WC location 3 times over to get the point, but maybe that was for all the Asian/Mid Eastern tourist benefit I don't know. All in all, I'm glad I ticked it off my bucket list, but maybe there's a cheaper and more efficient way of doing it.
Small city at the lake very unique. We had two hours to walk around have lunch and took some nice photos . The atmosphere was very nice and high quality of air but unfortunately spoiled with the heavy smokers . I think they should prohibit smoking at the streets.
Beautiful town. Highly recommend lunch at the skywalk.
A wonderful day trip with spectacular views! As stated, its a long bus trip but they do make regular stops. You would need 0.7eur for the restrooms and they do accept cards. The stores during the stops are relatively expensive for snacks and meals, and stop are quite short to order and eat as eating isn't permitted on the bus. Overall it's well worth the money spent and would highly recommend!!
Super nice trip. From Vienna the distance is quite long, but worth to wait.
The views are amazing. The skywalk was worth the time and expense. Dress for temperature. Layers. Hat or head covering.Comfortable shoes. Take lots of pictures Enjoy!!!
Sergio was excellent, very knowledgeable, and a very nice guy
Had a very pleasant day on this Hallstatt trip. The journey time was very long but the very early start provided the opportunity to sleep on the coach. 😅 There were 2 stops on the way to Halstatt as well. This was adequate. Our tour guide Sophia was delightful. She gave lots of interesting information and cracked a few jokes. Moreover she was super helpful with me as I have a disability. She ensure that I knew how to access the disabled toilets at every location. Also at the end of the evening she was very helpful with restaurant recommendations and other tourist sites I may be interested in. Which I was super grateful for. I would recommend this day tour to all interested parties. It’s accessible if you use a walking stick.
