Tour Guide was very patient and provided helpful information all throughout the tour. He was even funny at times! Driver was great and got us back on time even after experiencing traffic jams. Hallstatt is a beautiful place to see.

It's a beautiful place and the staff are great. Good value for money, great day out. Would definitely recommend
Gabriela our tour guide was amazing! The experience is incredible, beautiful place and fun activities. She kept us entertained and explained about everything and shared interesting stories! Totally worth it.
Excellent day trip, well organized .Pick up place by the Opera house was easy to find.Hallstatt is a beautiful village. It was a long drive, but worth it, There was enough time to spend in the village. We also had a 30 min boat ride around lake included in the tour. Our guide was Gudrun, Great guide. She explained everything in English . We were a large group [55 people ).
Tour started on time , communication was great and journey was comfortable. Guide was great , they spoke English and provided barcode for other languages. Overall must do trip
Long bus ride but definitely worth the trip to see this gorgeous little town. The boat trip across the lake was a definite highlight.
Overall, this was a very enjoyable trip with well-chosen stops between Vienna and Hallstatt that broke up the drive nicely. Having audio guides available in multiple languages was a huge plus, and our tour guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and engaging throughout the day. That said, communication regarding logistics could be improved. Clearer instructions on exact meeting points and times would eliminate unnecessary confusion. Additionally, the boat portion on the lake was essentially just a quick ferry transfer; a longer, dedicated scenic cruise would have made the experience feel complete. Still, it's a solid, scenic day trip that offers great value with just a few minor tweaks needed on timing and coordination.
The town of Hallstatt is very scenic and there are plenty of shopping and eating opportunities during the day. The boat ride was disappointing. It is a rather large lake and there are other tours to take around the lake. This boat tour only goes directly from one side of the lake to the other to catch the bus. There is enough time during the break to book a full tour on the lake for visitors. I would visit Hallstatt again but without the boat tour offered, and would arrange a boat tour on my own.
Our trip was amazing. Our tour guide,Karen, was incredible and very funny. She is very knowledgable from the start of the tour explaining parts of Vienna to the end! The bus ride was a great way to see parts of Austria we may not have been able to see. Hallstatt is a beautiful lake town. The mountains and town are so picturesque that everywhere you turn offers a beautiful view. The boat ride at the end of the tour is a perfect way to bid farewell to the charming city.
We had a wonderful time on our day trip to Hallstatt. Our tour guide Christopher, was a wonderful guide. Very friendly and has lots of information for everyone. This is along day trip, so this isn't really for children. You'll have two stops, one on the way there and one on the way back for bathroom break and meals. The tour bus very clean and neat, the driver was very good and kept everyone safe. Hallstatt is very picturesquest. It is crowded with tourists, so be patient. Lord of walking around and lots of restaurants and shops.
Excellent trip such a beautiful town and people were great. The guide was very well informed lots of great history
It was an amazing experience but I recommend to take the tour from Salzburg which is much closer But the weather is also very important
Beautiful location, informative and excellent tour guide, comfortable and clean bus ride, highly recommended
Traveled from Vienna to Hallstatt in March 2026 to check out the town. It takes two train rides and a boat ride to get there. Pretty much an all day affair. Note that the boat ride was 8 or 10 euro and they only take cash. They packed everyone on the little boat so it was difficult to find a seat and it was raining. The town of Hallstatt is cute, but there wasn't a lot to do. Many of the shops are closed on Mondays and there were very few sit down restaurants open. I would definitely prefer to go when it had snowed or in the summer and understand it can get very crowded in the summer months.
Memorable experience. The commentator Theodora was excellent. Her commentary made a difference. This trip gives you ample time to relish this magical view.
That is a half day tour m, it would have been great to have a boat ride. I ‘ll ve back low season lees turist
By the clock, organized and must do. Sophie was the tour guide, well informed and with sense of humour. Excellent coach ride, boat ride and the location itself.
The guide is very knowledgeable and shares plenty of interesting information about the country. The place is magical and we had enough free time as well to do our own thing.
Hallstatt is an extremely beautiful town and we loved exploring it but be forewarned, it takes over four hours to get there so when you consider the round trip travel time, your talking about almost nine hours in a bus to spend barely four hours in Hallstatt. There was also a baby on the bus which did not help! The guide and driver were excellent
Amazing trip with beautiful landscapes and good explanations even if the road is quite long with a baby
If there’s one day trip from Vienna you cannot miss, it’s the full-day adventure to Hallstatt, Austria’s fairytale lakeside village that looks like it was painted by nature herself. The journey starts early from Vienna, winding through the breathtaking Austrian countryside — rolling hills, misty forests, and charming alpine towns along the way. I loved watching the scenery shift from city elegance to mountain serenity. Our guide shared fascinating stories and local legends, making the drive fly by. Arriving in Hallstatt feels like stepping into another world. The village is nestled between the glassy lake and towering Dachstein mountains — every corner is picture-perfect. I took the funicular up to the Skywalk for a panoramic view that honestly took my breath away (and made for some epic photos 😍). Afterward, I wandered through the cobblestone streets, explored the Bone House, and enjoyed lunch by the lake — the trout was so fresh! Don’t skip grabbing a coffee and apple strudel at one of the lakeside cafés; it’s pure bliss watching swans glide across the water. The trip back to Vienna was relaxed, with one last scenic stop at a nearby village for a quick photo op. By the time we returned, I had hundreds of photos and a full heart.
Beautiful lake area and town. Worth the drive and the battle with the crowds. Tour guide needs to have clothes or sign that really stand out. Was easy to get lost from her. Also, people of the tour should be given handout of highlights of areas to see and map of meeting points and times.
Nice and relaxed travel. 4+4 hours travel, with good 45 mins break after 2 hours. Spent 3-3.5 hours at Hallstatt which included beautiful boat ride as well.
Hallstatt is beautiful and you should definitely go see this gorgeous place. The tour guide was very nice and helpful! The boat ride was beautiful and a great way to enter into the town! However we did not know it would be a lot of time on the bus, expect at least 4-5 hours there AND back on the bus due to stops at rest stops for extended periods of time.
Trip was great but would have been better without the tour guide (or with a different tour guide). Tour guide rambled on for 2 hours non stop without breather jumping randomly in somewhat broken english between history, trivia, and whatever else came to mind on the way in and for another while on the way back while tour guests tried to drown out the sound using headphones. Hallstadt and the boat trip where beautiful - 5 stars if it wasn t dor the guide
it was great all of it and Hallstatt wow it heaven on earth dont miss it and even the tour leader and the coach driver where great
Good visit however bus stops for food and beverage too long. It was 45 minutes twice. Too long as we ended up arriving at drop off location at 8:30pm at night.
Hallstatt is amazing and you should definitely visit no matter what. The tour was very long and felt like mostly driving. 8 hours spent on the bus and just a few hours in the most beautiful town. The tour guide basically coerced you into taking her guided tour and it left very little time to go take the funicular and explore by myself. I was literally running around. The tour guide also talked wayyyyy tooooo much
Great time. Recommend it to everyone. Bus driver and guid were great. Amazing little town. Worth the long drive. Loved it.
Beautiful place but just choked with so many tourists that you can hardly move. Long bus trip to get there first a short while.
Hallstatt is a nice place to visit but the trip was a bit too long due to the length of breaks we took.
Long way from Vienna, but worth it. Beautiful little town, experienced your guide made the trip smoothly.
Very long bus ride with a one stop each way for food and washroom break, which you need to pay for. Information given during the bus ride was not informative enough and the guide’s voice was monotonous (and put me to sleep). Hallstatt was extremely beautiful but it’s obvious that the local people are somewhat tired of the visitors (I’m’ not sure I can blame them). The boat ride was nice and short; unfortunately we did not go near the castle.
This tour is extremely lengthy and tiring for what you get. You will find that the village is quaint but lacks facilites for tourists. I can understand why the people who reside here would not be open to tourists- i actually felt uncomfortable invading their space.
Early start and long road journey (adequate stops) were worth it. Although we were blessed with a gorgeous sunny day which allowed stunning views. I wouldn't bother going all that way on dull cloudy day as the visit would be a bit dull with not much to do. The boat trip was gorgeous. Our coach was a double decker where we sat upstairs and felt a bit detached from our guide. we weren't greeted by her so didn't even see what she looked like which led to confusion when it came to meeting for the guided tour!
The guide was very informative. Knew his details very well. Had a great time. It was a long day with a 4 hour drive either way, but still I would not want to stay in Hallstat so the option of a daytrip from Vienna was great.
We visited Hallstatt, Austria from Salzburg by car, and such an unforgettable experience it was! The breathtaking beauty of the snow-capped mountains and the serene lake created a picture-perfect setting, and the city nestling in was just magical. One of the highlights of the trip was the Hallstatt Skywalk. The panoramic views from this vantage point were absolutely stunning, offering a bird’s-eye view of the village and the surrounding alpine landscape. It’s definitely worth the visit! The Hallstatt Salt Mine Tour was another remarkable experience. The tour was well-organized, providing an insightful look into the history of salt mining in the region. The guided experience, complete with interactive exhibits and even a couple of fun slide inside the mine, made it an engaging activity. Both the Skywalk and Salt Mine Tour took about three hours, so plan your timing accordingly, especially if you're on a tight schedule.
A day to remember spectacular scenery great tour guide Sophia. Beware overpriced eating stops cash needed for toilet.
First and foremost Hallstatt is beautiful. Also the journey to Hallstatt is breathtaking. In general, this trip is mainly for sightseeing and enjoying the picturesque view. If you are visiting during winter time, you should think about wearing snow shoes. Our tour guide Stefan was a great guy with humour who was more than willing to show us around and suggest us ways to pass our time.
Great trip and guide. The drive to Hallstatt is long but the guide shared a lot of facts about it, making it interesting along the way. The stoppages while coming and going are good too. There was a guided walking tour in Hallstatt and ample of time to explore the town by yourself. We had a great time and enjoyed it.
A must visit tour you should get either in combination with the activities the place has to offer or just for the unique landscaping and the church We booked the one that included the sky walk, salt mines, and the cable cars with the panoramic view, although the guide we had was not very organised so we missed the ride with the cable cars since there were no tickets left by the time we got there, but we did took the liberty of arranging the boat ride on our own Book in advance your tickets Get comfortable shoes (boots if you visit during winter. It is very slippery in some parts) Do not try local snacks if you have the chance to get them in Vienna. They are cheaper and a lot tastier.
Amazing experience highly recommended. It was really informative and the guide gave us extensive information.
Modern comfortable bus, hotel pickup, knowledgeable guide, definitely worth the money. Great experience.
The tour guide was really nice. The trip was lovely. Even though it was raining heavily we fully enjoyed the trip
Terrible Travelling about 10 hours to spend 4 hours in a pretty but not remarkable place wandering around makes no sense. The guided tour of the town barely happened and the short boat ride and then bus back to the town was a waste of time. A terrible waste of a day when we could have spent the time better enjoying Vienna.
Beautiful place but way too crowded for me. Very touristy however The tour guide was very knowledgeable and the bus very comfortable. Was a bit confused with the selection of the morning pick up place.
I am glad that I get to see this amazing place. It was raining when I went there but still worth it.
Good tour but long drive on bus that stops at rest areas that are way overpriced. Bring food and don’t get sucked in.
Hallstatt itself is absolutely beautiful. Four hours there is way too long as there isn’t anything to do. The drive there is very long and they take you to an overpriced rest stop on the way there and the way back.
excellent tour, we loved it Stefan was great guide. The place is amazing. We recommend this tour to our friend!
