Our guide was very good at keeping us on time but gave very little information about where we were or what we were seeing. Spent time on bus talking and joking with the driver. Time seemed very short in Salzburg and we were not expecting a 25 minute walk from the bus to the old town. And 25 minutes back. The area we saw was beautiful just not sure this is the best tour to see it.

Good tour; but too long. Hallstatt was the highlight of the tour. I recommend taking both tours separately and if you don’t have the time, pick Hallstatt.
Excellent trip guided by Octtavia, who really went beyond the normal. Stunning town and village seen.
The bus was comfortable and safe. The Country is very beautiful but the guy had no information other than what you could read on your phone in one paragraph. The guide had no knowledge about the historical, economical, social, environmental facts about the sites other than the obvious. It was an expensive taxi.
🇦🇹 Salzburg & Hallstatt, Austria — Straight Out of a Fairytale! ❤️ What an incredible day exploring two of Austria's most beautiful destinations! Being a travel agent, I must say I enjoyed this outing as part of a shote excursion from a River Cruise. Its a great way to spend the day as an alternative Salzburg stole my heart with its charming streets, stunning architecture, and rich musical history. After all, it's the birthplace of Mozart and home to some unforgettable scenes from The Sound of Music! 🎶 And then there's Hallstatt… WOW! 😍 Nestled between towering mountains and a crystal-clear lake, this little Alpine village looks like something straight out of a storybook. Pictures simply don't do it justice! Days like this remind me why I love traveling so much. There's something magical about experiencing places you've only seen in pictures. 🌍 Thank you Next View Tours, you've been amazing to show us this tour. ✈️ Ready to experience the magic of Europe yourself? Let this tour company show you the way . Thank you to our guide Ilir!! 🐾 #Salzburg #Hallstatt #Austria #EuropeanAdventure #DoxieLuTravelAndTours #TravelWithMe
Take this tour if you want to sample Halstatt and Salzburg. The tour was just right if you have limited time. What really made this tour exceptional was our tour guide Ottavia. She made the trip wonderful. Ottavia was very knowledgeable and very organized. She even provided us with coffee, candies and a postcard as a memento. Excellent!
It was hard to rate this as we had a taxi driver take us to the meeting spot. He dropped us off and swore it was correct. After he left we realized quickly that it was not the correct address we gave him. We called Viator and they gave us the number of the bus driver. We tried to call the driver but he never answered. By the time we found the correct location, it was too late. Communication between Viator and the driver would have helped a lot. We lost all the money on this trip and we have taken several Viator trips in the past. We understand we were late but a little extra effort would have helped us tremendously.
It was beautiful to see Salzburg and Hallstatt. I wish we could have had less time in Hallstatt (it’s mostly just for shops) and more time in Salzburg.
Great trip, visiting both Hallstatt and Salzburg is well worth it. Very friendly driver and tour guide, she took our pictures and was very thorough, showed us the most important places and then gave us options. Very pleased either way this trip .
Beautiful trip. The tour ran very smoothly and tour guide was very knowledgeable . The tour person we had walked very fast and with a large group we got separated frequently which was difficult fir some of the group especially going thru Salzburg.
I saw couple of mediocre reviews and it’s nothing like the experience I had today. Hallstatt was beautiful but small so half day makes sense. Salzburg, I will definitely come back next time and spend a day or two here. Our tour guide is very friendly, he brought professional camera and took great pictures for us. He also gave us recommendations on where to eat and gave us postcards at the end. This is definitely worth the $ I paid for and very budget friendly compared to the experience I had. Overall, my experience was 10 out of 10. Thank you! For reviews regarding Wifi, lunch, not enough time at Salzburg, etc. This is 14 hour tour including transit time. Spend your time wisely if your lunch time is important. Pack your lunch or buy something light and eat on the go. We had wifi in the bus and I thought that was extra perk. I thank to the team for being so generous.
This was a great experience to see two amazing places. It was a very long day trip (14 hours) to be prepared to be exhausted. Instructions were clear and concise ensuring smooth transitions to the next location.
A very relaxing and lovely trip. Well worth it. The guide was very informative and explained the activities very well
The long trip is DEFINITELY worth it! Both towns are so beautiful and really magical. If you have time to eat at Halstatt, I recommend eating at the top of the Salt Mine skywalk...the goulash is AMAZING!! And our tour guide Ottavia was incredible! Very knowledgeable and so sweet!
Great tour, guide was fantastic! Very knowledgeable and nice. Had a decent amount of time at each stop. Comfortable bus.
A very full day. Lots to see. Excellent Tour Guide. Very informative and knowledgeable. Very pleased we did it.
classis bus tour, full day, didn't arrive back to Vienna until 9am. Hallstatt is beautiful, you drive past the lakes which is nice. Salzburg is also nice. I feel the term tour is very loose, you get yourself to the bus, they drive you to the place, they give some information on the bus. Then they walk from the bus stop through the village to the best photo spot, then you have some time to look around and walk back to the bus. the first bathroom stop, would of been good to stop where food was available. Some guests also can't follow time
We had a great time in both Hallstatt and Salzburg. Nice weather that day and Hallstatt was absolutely beautiful! We had enjoyed the walk along the lake and had time to get some goodies and grab food. Salzburg was different, our guide was very knowledgeable, he took us around and gave us some recommendations. Had delicious coffee and dessert at the Cafe Mozart! Our guide even provided coffee on the tour bus in the morning , super thoughtful and considerate. Highly recommended!
Incredibly awesome trip, very well organized, precise schedule, friendly tour guide and bus driver, amazing scenery
Hallstatt is a beautiful place with postcard type scenery. Salzburg is also very nice particularly visiting the fortress.
We went on a tour from Vienna to Halstatt and Salzburg and it was amazing. Our tour guy ilie(spelling could be incorrect) and our driver were very nice and helped give us very useful information on the areas we visited. We were able to see a lot of amazing views, have some wonderful food and even had the chance to watch the sound of music on the way back. This was an amazing tour and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to see nice spots in Austria.
The tour was well thought out and very comfortable. We had an amazing time in both places and the recommendations were spot on!
it was an organized tour, the guide was great, the bus was comfortable, everything was great, we enjoyed the day.
Hallstatt portion was wonderful . Salzburg, not enough time to really see and explore. Our guide was very nice, pleasant . But IMO, too much time driving !
It was truly a spectacular experience, the views we saw were absolutely stunning, we learned a good amount of knowledge about vienna and the towns we visited The tour guide was very helpful she gave us a lot insight into the history of vienna aswel as great suggestions on places to eat/visit while on the tour and she was always very open to answering any questions myself or other tour members had. If you’re visiting Vienna you absolutely MUST take this trip!
Although a 13 hour day the country side we traveled through and the town of Hallsatt and city of Salzburg were worth visiting. Many picturesque sights during the trip as well as opportunities to try special foods of the areas. Our guide Illir was knowledgeable about the area. He was also friendly, helpful and kind. Our bus driver was experienced and provided for a smooth ride.
Make sure you eat on bus, enjoy the places and scenery while you are there. Hallstat went too quickly we would have loved more time there. Salzburg is huge and not quite the Alps and hills you are hoping for. I wish there was a short stop to take a scenery photo as the Alps are beautiful.
Great trip!! Guide was extremely kind and helpful - takes a photo of you in front of the lake in Hallstatt and then gave us a printed copy at the end. Very nice touch.
The description of the tour as Lakes and Mountain is deceiving. Yes we passed to the mountains and lakes while driving because that the way how to go to Hallstatt. The little town is nice, a short time of 1hr. 45min. to walk around is enough Not enough time to eat lunch at Salzburg. It was suggested to go inside the castle and have lunch with view, but just walking to the old town towards the Mirabell and coming back will not have enough time to go up in the mountain to see the castle and eat lunch. The experience was ok but whoever will take this should do their own research of the place and explore it their own way. Important: ask your driver that if they expect the passengers to be there on time, the bus should be ready with the AC on. All passenger was on time but we waited inside the bus while waiting for the driver to turn on the engine because he was chatting with another driver outside the bus and we waited for him.
Our tour guide Octtavia (not sure if I spelled it right) was very informative. She was great. The tour was very long. We left the meeting point at 7am and got drop off around 8.45pm. We were served some coffee abd biscuit in the bus. There’s bathroom in the bus. It was comfortable ride. Ride from Hallstat to Salzburg was very scenic. Hallstat was beautiful. Salzburg was nice and a lot to see. You need a day or two to explore it. This tour is great if you just want to see the 2 places quickly because you don’t have a lot of time. But I would recommend this tour. It was a very nice tour.
Cancelled 2 days before event no explanation. Very poor.
Priscila from Next View Tours led a truly memorable and informative tour to both Hallstatt ( approximately 2 hours total stay) and Salzburg ( visit approximately 3 hours total stay). It was an excellent combination of guided experiences and free time to explore at your own pace. We appreciated the time spent with Priscila at each location, as her insights enriched our understanding of the areas' rich history and culture. She added a personal touch by taking individual photos of each of us at Hallstatt and gifting us with these pictures—such a considerate gesture that made the experience even more special. Afterwards, we were given ample opportunity to explore independently, making the overall experience both engaging and personalized.
This tour was a fantastic way to see urban and countryside beauty between Vienna, Halstatt, and Salzburg. And a great way to add two more cities to your list of places you visited within Austria. The lakeside beauty of Halstatt is breaking, and the small-town vibe is pleasant. And the large-city environment of Salzburg is enjoyable and offers options to suit everyone's tastes during their free time there. Go dining, shopping, explore The Sound of Music filming locations, learn more about Mozart, etc... I had a great time during this trip.
A wonderful day trip from Vienna to Hallstatt and Salzburg by bus. This is a comprehensive tour if you are short for time in Vienna to visit neighboring landmark cities. Its give you a brief overview of Austria. The tour starts early and the drive is long however it makes up for having self-organize train or car rentals on your own. The bus had air conditioning and a bathroom. They provided espresso and biscuits during the ride. The tour bus was completely full about 50 people. The bus also stops at a rest stop between the two towns for a bio break. The guide walked us through Hallstatt and gave us tips and tricks how to navigate the mountain and lake town efficiently. She made recommendations for local shops for salt and pastries stores for signature Austrian style Viennoiserie. The guide took our pictures by the lake. Afterwards, we spent 1 hour of free time to explore. The walking tour in Salzburg was about 20 minutes, the guide shared facts about Mozart’s childhood home and the filming location of “The Sound of Music”. We had approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes to self-explore the town on our own. The guide provided a few restaurant and chocolate and souvenirs shop recommendations. The guides were professional and proficient in english. The tour is short on time, so spend it wisely based on the suggested recommendations for free-time within town. The guides provided seamless communication, and safe transportation. Long and compact day on the bus but it’s worth it if you want to kick back and relax without having to preplan and self-navigate.
We booked this tour (group of 4) over 1 month ahead of time, for our 4d stay in Vienna. The tour company cancelled our tour at 10:26pm the previous day, no communication and no replies on Tripadvisor to explain or apologize. This tour leaves the next day at 6am, which was a miracle we even stayed up late enough to see the email the night before. If the issue was that the group was too small/didn’t fill, they should have at least let us know 1d beforehand AT MINIMUM so that we could’ve made other plans for the day. Overall highly unprofessional and disappointing, try to avoid giving your business here. (We had an excellent Wachau Valley bike+wine tour experience with Vienna Explorer! photo attached to help boost visibility of this review)
The guide didn't give us time in Salzburg at all. I guess it wasn't his fault as the tour operator... Waist of time and money.
Today was a really nice tour of Hallstatt and Salzburg. The driver did an amazing job. It’s a long day for everyone but especially him. Thank you. Otti our guide was friendly and professional throughout. She explained every step of the day and gave historical information on the places we visited. Otti goes the extra mile and does simple things that really stand out and make a difference. Coffee for everyone on the coach. A biscuit. Taking photos and then giving people a printed copy totally free of charge. You are good at what you do Otti. Thanks for a great day.
Great experience. Our tour guide Priscilla was very accommodating and clear on her instructions. She went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a extraordinary time. The bus ride was smooth and the bus was comfortable.
The long ride was not worth the actual short visit we experienced. The bus was not comfortable nor did not have WiFi. They did they offer anything simple like bottled water. Overall would not recommend.
Great experience. This is an all day trip but it’s a must do trip when in Austria. My family and I enjoyed both cities.
Overall it was a beautiful day trip! The scenery was truly breathtaking. The staff was helpful and polite. The bus was very comfortable. But I have to complain they gave us less than hour in Salzburg due to a city event. We couldn’t enjoy the gardens or visit Mozart’s house. We barely had time to buy some to go lunch, buy a few souvenirs and rush back to bus, which was another 15 min walk (within the hour they gave us) It was very disappointing and I wish we had more time to enjoy. It wasn’t pleasant, it was stressful. The Hallstatt visit was beautiful! We enjoyed it more. I wish we had more time in Salzburg than Hallstatt.
It is a long journey. Bring more water with you. Also don't forget the umbrella if you don't want to get wet.
It was a long day ! but would have preferred longer at each destination by an hour or two !
It was a fantastic day trip. Everything was well organized and perfectly operated, seamless from start to finish. The tour was thoughtfully designed in a way to make the best use of time and also allow us to see those amazing sights and spots. The bus was very comfortable and the ride was enjoyable. My trip to Vienna wouldn't have been complete without this tour. Our guides Ottavia and Bashir were excellent. Their knowledge about each destination, suggestions and guidance provided to help us navigate each place, and their kindness extended to everyone of the group is much appreciated.
Poorly organized, not enough information, participants got lost due to lack of clarity, tour guide was not informative causing issues.
All in all it was a great trip. Unfortunately the traffic did not do us too much favour, hence, timing at the locations had to be squeezed a little. However, the host did everything possible to make the trip worthwhile and ensured sufficient time for the to do’s.
Milo was an excellent guide. Personable. The bus was clean and the drive went through beautiful areas. You get a snapshot visit of both places and can then decide if you want to return for longer visits.
Great full day experience from Vienna to Hallstatt and Salzburg. Our tour guide, Ottavia was really nice. She gave us a walking tour and also recommended best restaurants and shops. She was also very informative, and shared facts and history about the places we passed on the way. Absolutely worth it!
I was feeling sick (nauseous and stomachache) and when I asked the guide for help, she was very cold and showed no interest in helping. I then asked the driver to leave the bus, and he was extremely rude, screaming at me in German. I know that something else was going on but he didn’t event listened to what I said. I then left the bus (and the tour) in tears, nobody cared or came after me.
Very cool experience got to see some amazing scenery, only minor was that we didn’t have enough time to see Hallstatt (around 2 hours) but it’s definitely worth it
