Spectacular visit, not super crowded and got lucky with beautiful weather. Probably more crowded in summer but in Oct, we were able to buy tickets on site and no lines. One of those places not to be missed. Incredibly beautiful grounds and extraordinary inside. We did both upper and lower museums, both very worthwhile visits.

Phenomenal displays with appreciated short narratives next to each piece. We did not do a guided tour and made a morning reservation which was helpful and the museum was not as crowded as expected. It was very enjoyable and worth the visit.
The Belvedere is a must do visit in Vienna. The art work is fabulous and not to be missed especially the Klimts.
Ticket package with the Big Bus company is worth it for the price and the skip-the-queue priority. Present ticket QR code at the palace ticket office BEFORE queuing for entry Superb collection Busy at times
This museum is worth going to! I took the tram from my hotel and then walked a block or so to the gate. Do yourself a favor and give yourself a little spare time to explore the grounds. They are beautiful! It doesn't take much time, but a photo from the gardens is worth it. They don't let you in even a minute early, so if you get a ticket for a certain time, I would say: be there exactly then. You walk in and explore the different levels - the exhibits are wonderful, and you should feel free to take your time. If you are going exclusively to see The Kiss, know that is where the biggest crowd is, so you will be next to the most people at this time. All in all, it was worth it, and I would go again! Do yourself a favor and get a coffee or hot chocolate at the restaurant after. I got a chocolate/espresso/orange liquor drink that was awesome!
We made our own way there by train and tram. Walked through the gardens to the Upper Belvedere and joined a small queue. The museum was far bigger than we imagined and although there for two and a half hours we were unable to visit every room so full were they with fantastic pieces of art as well as their own room decoration and information boards. My favourite place in the whole of Vienna.
Very knowledge and helpful guide
Wonderful museum with many fantastic exhibits. Plenty of time and space to walk around all the galleries.
A lovely experience. We spent just a couple of hours there so didn’t see everything. However, there is art to everyone’s taste, some stunning paintings and sculptures and you could get very close to the exhibits. Admissions were timed so, although congested in places, not too bad. Staff a bit invisible but we managed We were lucky to have chosen a glorious day so the gardens looked amazing, as did the facade of the palace/museum
Museum is very pretty, all the amazing paintings. Entrance is very organized
You can't explore Vienna without visiting this place. What does one say; the complex is breathtaking, and the art collection is incredible. Of course, Klimt is the star of the show, and quite rightly so, however, there is much more to explore. For any art lover this is simply a place you can't afford to miss. Another magical piece of Vienna.
Had a great time visiting the Belvedere! I saw both the upper and lower buildings. Thr Klimpt painting is absolutely equisite. I’m also in awe of his sunflowers. The layout of the galleries are beautiful and showcase the maters work perfectly! If you like art - defiantly check this out!
Excellent collection. Must visit. Be patient around klimt and wait your chance. Dont miss the modern art exhibition on the top floor, it is a revelation’
Was so excited to see the Klimt work and it didn’t disappoint. All the other works there were very interesting too, and the gardens were beautiful. I wish it had been a little quieter during the museum visit, it was quite busy and difficult to see / read some of the works, but overall it was excellent. And the gift shops were great as well.
Okay, this place is GORGEOUS! 😍 The palace itself is worth the visit, but then you walk inside and get Klimt’s famous The Kiss — definitely the star of the show! 💋✨ Beautiful rooms, incredible artwork, and the gardens are stunning. We wandered around, took way too many pictures, and soaked up the whole grand-palace experience. Visitor tip: Give yourself a couple of hours here, especially if you want time to enjoy the galleries and wander through the gardens. Comfortable shoes are a good idea — there’s plenty of walking! 👟 The palace and gardens make for some fantastic photos, so definitely allow a little extra time for that too. 📸 If The Kiss is high on your list, it’s worth knowing that it can get busy around the main gallery, so take your time and enjoy the other artwork too. Definitely worth adding to your Vienna list — another palace, another museum, another bunch of steps! 😂
We used this as a way to ensure we wouldn't have to queue as long and it worked wonderfully. Definitely recommend the museum as a whole, but of course The Kiss was a highlight.
Fabulous collection of Klimt and others in a very beautiful setting. We spent hours here! Definitely recommend!
The staff was incredibly accommodating. I hurt my knee the first day I arrived and they got me a wheelchair and brought it to me so I wouldn’t have to hobble around.
Came for the Klimpt, but impressed by the entire collection of artwork. People flow made it a bit difficult to move through the exhibits, but not bad.
Wonderful collection of art and beautiful view of St. Stephen’s in the distance. Gustav Klimt was well represented and beautifully displayed.
It was a beautiful location and the palace did not disappoint. It was truly a special experience to see the famous paintings up close.
You don’t need to stop at the ticket window. Your ticket gets you in. No meeting place; no one to meet
It was a beautiful museum, but I wasn’t informed there were gardens. I am very disappointed. I missed him. Had I had a Guide. They would’ve told us something about it, but I had to rent headphones. They were not included..
A must in Vienna Book online Avoid the lines
Nice collection especially the Gustave Klimt Collection
Somehow after a toilet visit I went outside following a group of others and I could not enter again to meet up with my husband even when I could show pictures of me inside proving the ticket was for me.
The museum is well curated and is in a beautiful setting, fun to look at the palace as well as the art. The tickets were easy to use digitally.
It was incredible to see so many art works by Gustav Klimt! Wonderful experience - would have liked longer but we were on a Danube river cruise so time was limited.
This museum was honestly so beautiful. The tickets were reasonably priced & it wasn’t too busy. We had to queue to be let in according to the time on our ticket but the wait wasn’t longer than 10 minutes so it wasn’t an inconvenience. Whilst you wait, there is a lovely view & it’s a perfect photograph opportunity. My advice is to take your time, enjoy everything you see and find what resonates with you as it’s different for everyone. There are lockers at the museum which you can put all your valuables in, I believe it was €2 but you get the money back when you unlock the locker. There is only one toilet for women so I would suggest going to the toilet before you go as we waited quite a while.
There were many Klimt paintings in the exhibit!
It was fine, nothing much to say as this is just entry to a palace but the paintings are lovely and worth seeing
It was a wonderful museum with inspiring Impressionist works of art. It was truly a highlight of our trip to Vienna to visit the Upper Belvedere and see the Klimt original works of art up close. I would strongly recommend visitors not to miss it!
Great experience - a lot of amazing artwork to see, plus the palace itself. Bought our tickets online ahead of time. The only disappointment was the gardens between upper and lower aren’t really maintained.
They have timed entry, so plan accordingly. Even at that, it was pretty crowded. The collection is nice it's always a privilege to see paintings/art in person. Klimpt's work was worth the crowd, but I'd suggest the rest of the museum not be skipped
Gorgeous palace. Klimt wing is stunning. Other areas thoughtfully designed. Great info and insight on art pieces.
I didn’t realise this was only an art exhibition- bigger fool me for not checking however I really enjoyed it. Spent time walking around looking at the art with plenty of info available on each piece/about collection. Highlight for most is Klimt’s The Kiss, but you have to get past the people there posing for photos with it not actually looking at it!!!! The grounds were also a nice walk although not all of it has been looked after, we didn’t go to lower Belvedere so can’t comment. We’d missed lunch so decided to have a quick snack in the cafe, waitress was nice but service was slow as she seemed to be the only one taking orders. 2 soft drinks and 2 strudels €24 - way too much but as always with museum cafes…
Seeing The Kiss was a must-do activity for me while visiting Vienna. Booking through Viator made it a breeze to just show up and get whisked through.
There are many Klimt painting here - not just The Kiss. There is a Van Gogh and many other beautiful pieces of art. The ticket I bought got me right in.
Very nice museum with some amazing pieces. Beautiful grounds and excellent beer garden nearby to “reconnoiter” and rest the feet! Only negative were the number of pushy groups.
a beautiful palace with stunning paintings inside. Definitely worth a visit if you like Gustav Klimt.
Like getting three for one value - the art in the museum is great, the Belvedere palace architecture is stunning, and the museum gardens are wonderful. If you don't like art, the building itself is amazing; if you like art - don't miss this museum; if you don't like either, the grounds are so lovely to walk through. The art is a good mix of old and new, with the Gustave Klimpt paintings as the highlight. The tickets are time entry, and the museum wasn't overcrowded. Great views of Vienna from the museum.
I’m sorry that my experience was negative. It has to do with the app’s advice on “meeting point” which was totally incorrect, as it directed us to meet at the Stephansplatz, even at this writing. By contacting the admin, we found that we were supposed to go to the upper Belvedere palace on our own and enjoy. We had to scramble to find the palace and ended up wasting over an hour in an unfamiliar foreign city. It is a unique exhibition but we were so tired and unhappy that we lost valuable travel time.
This is a must-do experience for any first-time visitor to Vienna. Come for Klimt's masterpieces "The Kiss" and "Judith", and stay for the incredible palace and gardens.
The Klimt collection is breathtaking. The palace and grounds are beautiful. Breakfast at the cafe was as good as any we had in Vienna. Better than some.
A beautiful building to house the collection and wonderful grounds for a stroll afterwards. So nice to see original works of art that you have only previously seen photos of.Well worth a visit.
What a treat!!! A beautiful palace, stunning grounds, and a world-class art museum all in one... WOW!! A must visit while in Vienna. We purchased skip-the-line tickets via Viator and rented the self-guided audio headsets (I think they were around $5 each, maybe a little more). The collection of art is beautiful, spanning many different periods. Their most famous piece is Klimt’s The Kiss. I’ll be honest — I didn’t know much about Gustav Klimt before, but after seeing his work, I’m now a big fan. After touring the art museum, stroll through the vast gardens. They are beautiful, both in the front and back.
This and the Kunsthistorischesmuseum are in my opinion the two greatest art museums in Vienna. The Belvedere's collection of Klimt is unparalleled but it offers so much more in so many areas of art. Always a joy and a revelation to view these masterworks.
Beautiful art and beautiful palace! Great information on audio about paintings and building and gardens
Just take your Viator voucher and go stand in line. Not necessary to trade the voucher at the ticket office. I didn't see any skip the line option for entry. But if you at 9 am, go straight to The Kiss because it gets crowded fast.
This was a last minute addition to an already full itinerary but l am so pleased l did it. The Upper Belvedere was beautiful and the artworks outstanding. Seeing ‘The Kiss’ up close was fab !
