Itinerary
Hear a classical concert at Capuchin Church! Capuchin Church is centrally located near the State Opera in Vienna's city centre and is known for the Imperial Crypt, which served as the Habsburg burial site for centuries. Its modest interior is also its major asset - visitors are fascinated by the wooden furnishings. In pre-Christmas time, the concerts in the heated church span a majestic arc of festive trumpet music and the finest Christmas carols - what a wonderful way to prepare for the approaching Christmas in a contemplative and joyful way.
Book a combo ticket and combine your concert visit with the most famous crypt in the world, the Capuchin Crypt, located directly under the Capuchin Church. The burial place of about 150 members of the Habsburg dynasty since 1618 lets you feel 400 years of Austrian and European history. Marvel at the tombs of famous ruling personalities, such as Emperor Franz Joseph and his beautiful wife Elisabeth "Sisi" or the impressive double coffin of Empress Maria Theresa. Last admission to the crypt is at 17:30, so it can be wonderfully combined with the concert.

A very accomplished and highly enjoyable performance by this talented string quartet. an interesting programme of classical pieces by Mozart, Strauss and other composers - all performed in the stunning surroundings of this beautiful church. Will definitely take in another concert here on our next trip to Vienna.
The acoustics in the church were fabulous to carry the music. Musicians were excellent in playing the varied pieces from different composers. Being in the church made it so personal and intimate. Highly recommend!
As good as we’ve heard anywhere
Even thought the músico and were Young, there TALENT and music was excelentes! I really enjoyed the concert and my guess everybody did, due to all the aplauses. The músicians were so please the have us 2 more incredible and outstanding performances.
The musicians were wonderful and performed beautifully, but unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by highly disruptive young children throughout the entire hour-long concert. There was frequent talking, noise, and movement, making it extremely difficult to enjoy the music or appreciate the atmosphere of the Capuchin Church. While families should certainly be able to experience classical music, an intimate evening concert requires consideration for the performers and the rest of the audience. The organizers should either establish a minimum age, clearly communicate expectations beforehand, or ask persistently disruptive guests to step outside. It was deeply disappointing to pay for what should have been a peaceful and memorable musical experience in Vienna, only for the disruption to continue unchecked throughout the performance. The musicians deserved better, as did the audience.
The church has great acoustics! As a history nerd, I loved knowing that the Hapsburgs were in their cryps below us while we enjoyed the classic sounds of Vienna.
The music was excellent. Lasted an hour. Easy to get to in city center. Seats were wood (hard). No air conditioning (warm), even at 7p. Loved the earlier time as it also allowed us to see the light show at Votive Church. All other concerts at 8p or later.
Great concert in a beautiful church although it got very hot as Vienna was in the middle of a heatwave. The three violinists and the cello player were all very good.
My 83-year old mother and I thoroughly enjoyed the one-hour concert in the church. Such a lovely setting for beautiful music! The musicians were very talented and clearly enjoyed playing music together. The fact that it was in a church and rather intimate made it more special and moving. Only wish there would have been a "Welcome" and "Thank you" from someone (other than the musicians even) to bookend the concert.
A talented young string quartet playing a collection of well- and lesser-known classics in a beautiful church setting. A great value for the quality of the performance. I will bring more visitors here, for sure!
The concert was one of the best I’ve ever been to. We went on 04.07, there was no line, so we quickly got in. The performers started right on time and delivered an amathing performance. The acoustics were also great. Too bad you can’t record the concert.
Very high quality string quartet
Excellent experience! Musicians were superb! Crypt was a walk through history! Great value getting the combo ticket.
If I had just one word to describe this experience that word would be beautiful. The church was simple yet elegant. When I heard the musicians warming up I knew I was going for be in for a wonderful evening. The sound was great and the music brought both a smile to my face and a tear to my eye. Tears of joy for the sure beauty of the music. When in Vienna you’re walking in the footsteps of the great composers so why not hear their music. Highly suggest to all
We stumbled upon this Concert and were surprised at the talent, intimacy, and beautiful church in which we heard music from the great musicians. It's in a perfect location. Only 4 musicians had all this talent to make you feel that you were at the Opera House. The acoustics in the church is amazing, as well as the statues and design.
Great evening and not too long after a busy day 😉. Totally recommendation. Go for it at your next stay.
Lovely experience. We would absolutely do this again and recommend to anyone else visiting Vienna. Thank you!
Beautiful! The musicians were extremely talented, and very professional. The church was a beautiful backdrop. The acoustics were amazing. I went to the crypt at 5:30, then went and got dinner and came back for the 7 o’clock performance. Heads up — the crypt closes at 6 pm.
This is a small, intimate church. The acoustics were terrific and the musicians were amazing. Performance is highly recommended
My wife and I were visiting from the U.S. and looking for a live concert to go to. This one was perfect and in a lovely Church not too far from where we were having dinner. It was about an hour and 15 minutes long and the quartet was very talented! It was affordable compared to alot of the other concerts and we had a lovely evening.
Wonderful Quartet. Very professional and music selections were lovely. Had a wonderful time and would highly recommend.
This was one of the highlights of my trip, exceeded all expectations. it was amazing. The music, her vouce was incredible. Let’s just say you absolutely are missing out if you don’t do this.
This was a beautiful concert in a lovely setting. Amazing acoustics, candle light and the setting of the chapel, with a portrait of baby Christ made it truly special. The soprano and trumpet also added to the specialness of the quartet.
This was beautiful and well done. The church and music was so complimentary of each other perfect way to start Christmas seasons. Highly recommend
Excellent concert, but image published on your site and their own show a more Christmassy scene. However, that said well organised, great music and overall a very nice experience
You are in Vienna for a day or two and would like to feel the true character of the city: get tickets for A Little Night Music in Capuchin Church and within one hour you will understand why so many people are inspired by this wonderful city. The musicians are passionate, the musical pieces recognisable (even if you are not typically a classical music fan), and the acoustics are out of this world. Dont be shy, sit as close as you can. An evening to warm your heart. Danke!
This was a wonderful experience! We toured the crypt first and then listened to the amazing quartet. They were quite good, and watching them perform in the Capuchin Chapel was so intimate and very memorable. Our whole family thoroughly enjoyed it — a wonderful activity for a Vienna vacation!
This was an amazing musical experience. The acoustics in the church are incredible and the talent of the four musicians just superb.. if you want to imagine, watch the rich Viennese musical environment would have been like in the 1800s then this night is for you. Although it is only an hour, it covers so many different styles of musical, thinking that it is well worth the visit loved it all.
Beautiful music, very professional performance in a tranquil setting. Intimate setting. Helpful staff.
A popular selection of classical music expertly performed. The church provided excellent acoustics that made the performance sound much richer than expected.
Lovely Christmas concert with outstanding musicians and soloist at Capuchin Church. Wonderful performance.
Perfect amount of concert time to satisfy all in the family. Beautiful church and setting - wonderful acoustics. Very talented musicians and soloist. Highly recommend!
I got the combined ticket to see the crypt as well, and it was definitely worth it. The crypt closes before the concert begins, so I had time to get dinner nearby and return for the concert. The concert was wonderful, the musicians all had great energy and I enjoyed their playful expressions. It was a fairly short concert though, I wish there had been some introduction of the players, or information about the songs, but overall I enjoyed it, and I love that even though the church is above the crypt, it's a joyful atmosphere rather than morbid.
This was a wonderful concert of well-known and much loved string quartet pieces, held in the historic Kapuziner Kirche, whose crypt is the resting place of many generations of the Habsburgs. We bought a combined ticket for the crypt and the concert and enjoyed both immensely.
incredible concert. the venue was beautiful. the benches were a little uncomfortable but it did not take away from the concert. I did the combined ticket with entrance to the crypt. If I were to do it again I would skip the crypt and just do the concert. highly recommend!
The music produced by just 4 instruments was amazing and in a lovely setting. Very talented musicians, just the right amount of time too as only an hour long. Loved the crypt as well.
The church is small, but very impressive. There are art and inlaid woods that make this a warm and inviting venue. The string quartet played for an hour. We applauded enough that they did one encore song. The selection of music was perfect. I very much liked that this concert started at 6:30 and was done by 7:30. Just the right amount of Viennese music to remind you of the genius of the composers that called Vienna home.
Incredible music! Beautiful church! Lovely people! The pews are a bit hard on the back so bring something soft to sit/lean on. 10/10 recommend.
I really enjoyed the concert not being a classical music fan I wasn’t sure what to expect but found the music to be easily recognisable and beautifully played in a stunning location. The crypts were also a fascinating experience and worth the trip
The music . But it was so uncomfortable in the church it spoiled the experience . The quartertet were very professional. There was a good mixture of music but it was uncomfortable and if it had been cold outside it would have been really cold in the church
One of the best outings we did while in Vienna. It is not a massive venue, but the quality was excellent and had a very intimate feel. We will definitely do this again if we ever get back to Vienna. Thank you for an excellent experience.
This is a wonderful way to celebrate prior to Christmas. The musicians were outstanding, the vocalist sublime, and the church itself beautiful. The audience was welcomed to the evening by a brief advent statement. The choice of music was beautiful. The acoustics are great. It was a superb blend of classical and contemporary Christmas music pieces. With so many concerts to choose from in Vienna this is one very worth attending.
Wonderful concert, fantastic violinist, beautiful historical church. The most wonderful interesting and preserved crypts.
The Christmas concert was a top highlight of our trip to Vienna! The musicians and singers were amazing!!! Goosebumps throughout the show on an amazing intimate church!
The quartet played beautiful classical music in the Capuchin Church. This was an excellent end to the day.
We were looking for a concert that was about the music - not costumes, dinner, etc. - and preferred one that didn't begin at 20:30. We came upon the Capuchin church while wondering, booked the 18:30 tickets and then sat in a sidewalk cafe until the doors opened. We were the first inside and when the musicians arrived, their attitude seemed to say they were looking forward to it as much as we were. The quality was excellent. And choosing a Brahms piece to close the program added some humor that confirmed they were having a good time too. We four HIGHLY recommend this experience.
The small church was filled with wonderful sounds from Mozart to Brahms to Bach and Tschaikowsky. Highly recommended!!
The choice of music was excellent and the playing impeccable. The concert lasted fifty minutes and no speeches! Excellent value.
This chamber concert with The Emperor Quartet Vienna in the historic Capuchin Church was a highlight of our visit to Vienna. The program, which included Mozart, Haydn, Schubert, Bach and other favorites, was expertly played by an extremely gifted quartet. The intimate setting, a beautiful historic church, made this a magical experience. We highly recommend it.
